Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I rate the tool's stability a nine out of ten.""The tool's most valuable feature is its integration with the banks. Its messaging and routing capabilities are good.""We can handle a large number of messages without any issues, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.""Compared to the current solutions I use, like Azure Logic Apps and other cloud services, BizTalk was far better and more reliable.""BIzTalk's integration with Visual Studio is the most valuable feature of this product.""The most valuable feature of BizTalk Server is that it will turn XML into flexible transactions.""Essentially, you can do whatever you like with these systems, and you do not have to take care about the scaling because if one server is overloaded, it just forwards the message to the next server, even if it were designated to a specific server. It weeds out the messages according to the load. If you want to scale it, you just add new servers.""The most valuable feature is its reliability and stability. The first version of BizTalk was released in 2000, and many companies still use it. It was stable until 2013 when we had support."

"The product has valuable on-call scheduling, escalation, and incident workflow management features.""PagerDuty is very stable and very reliable.""A cool feature is that it helps us to understand the flow of the alert. If the alert was coming to the current on-call and he didn't catch the call or didn't notice it for any reason, it starts being escalated automatically, according to the escalation schedule, or to other teammates. You can see the flow very easily on your phone or via the website, if you want to do a post-mortem.""PagerDuty's notification process is the most valuable feature.""The initial setup is straightforward.""The solution's most valuable features are that it adds each alert as a service, has good scheduling capabilities, and includes the ability to write logic based on texts.""Alert deduplication and noise reduction for alerts are the major features that I found useful.""The SMS pages and the mobile application are pretty much the top two features."

Cons
"The product could be improved in monitoring, managing, and support functionalities.""The product's deployment can be quicker""BizTalk is in the past, Microsoft is not going to evolve it any further or add any new features.""It's an on-premises system, requiring physical servers for deployment. This is different from Azure; you don't need any servers with Azure. If you have a subscription, you can do whatever you want. There are unit restrictions based on the environment (like non-production vs. production) in BizTalk. You need physical servers and databases. In Azure, those are not required – it's all in the cloud.""It's a complex product because you have many degrees of freedom to connect different parts together. Whether it's sensible or not, is up to you, but the machine does allow it. But because of the vast degrees of freedom, it's complex.""BizTalk Server is an outdated legacy system that does not support messaging.""The deployment could be simplified.""BizTalk lacks native cloud support. BizTalk doesn't offer in-built support for cloud. We need to use third-party adapters to connect it to cloud services."

More BizTalk Server Cons →

"It cannot be integrated with our upgraded Jira system.""The user interface could be more intuitive.""It is a very non-customizable product, so you cannot add things like root cause analysis or the classification of incidents based on the area where you are getting more incidents. For example, if you're getting a lot of database issues, that may be an are you want to probe.""They could include incident merging and alert grouping features in the product.""The biggest area for improvement with PagerDuty is noise suppression. There have been a handful of incidents through our use of PagerDuty over the years where one incident may lead to 30 to 50 pages because you're monitoring all these different things, and each thing is an individual page. There should be the ability to set up paging tiers and group correlations between some of the different pages. That is something that would be really valuable. We should be able to say this one page may have a group or a tree of effective other pages that may tier off of it. So, if you see those pages independently, go ahead and alarm, but if you see this plus that, don't do that.""The solution's analytics are okay. I don't think the features, at this point, give you a lot of insights. We have actually been trying to get insights from it but it hasn't really given us a lot of extra points to explore. We were looking at the number of alerts to see where many of the alerts were coming from. We never managed to get many insights on this.""The product can be improved by including out-of-the-box integration with other standard tools used in our fields such as Confluence, and Jira.""PagerDuty should be integrated with other tools, so it can import the IT roster automatically. Our other rules continue to work once they're configured, but the roster must be added manually."

  • "Based on the knowledge, it is relatively cheaper than Azure Identity Services and cloud services in general."
  • "It was not cheap, but it was affordable."
  • "BizTalk Server is not freeware. There's a significant licensing cost involved. Be sure you will actually utilize its features fully."
  • More BizTalk Server Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Licensing costs are around $700 a month, and the only additional costs, are phone costs in some instances."
  • "The cost is quite high. But if you want to get a full-featured application and you have a big team..."
  • "If you add more people, then you have to pay more, which is always a thing with the SaaS solutions."
  • "If we wanted phone calls or additional SMSs, we would have to pitch up for those. They give us so many per month per user, then we have to pay extra if it goes over that."
  • "They're very good in pricing compared to the competitors in the area. I would rate them a five out of five in terms of pricing."
  • "The solution is paid on a monthly basis and represents about 1% of the platform's budget."
