Long-term testing workflows have improved integration of test planning and defect tracking
The deployment depends on whether you are deploying it on your computer or across the program. Cloud-based system deployment takes some time, as it depends on your rights to your computer. I would rate the deployment as a seven on a scale of one to ten. It took a couple of hours to get it right. The IT department deploys it.

Everyone knows the tool and adapts swiftly, making teamwork efficient
Jira Align has become a standard in this industry, so everybody knows how to use it. Everybody knows Jira Align, so it is not hard to adapt to projects and customers. That is the aspect I appreciate the most. It is very scalable, and I appreciate that. Because it is a standard, as I mentioned, though not an official one, Jira Align is adapting to the latest approaches such as Scrum and Kanban. It is really easy to set up a project and start working with the team. Everybody knows Scrum, everybody knows Kanban, or a combination of both. That is the benefit I see, and the UI is very intuitive.

Real-time dashboards provide clear insights into project progress and team velocity
Rally Software is easy to use for Agile project methodology because it follows Scrum and Kanban, helping with sprint planning and backlog management. Rally Software provides real-time dashboards for different kinds of stakeholders and governance, giving clear insights into project progress, team velocity, and potential risks. Backlog management is present in the product, allowing prioritization of tasks. The dashboards provide all types of insights through analytics. Capacity planning helps optimize resource allocation, ensuring balanced workload and realistic sprint commitments for our projects. The solution integrates with GitHub, and we can also integrate with Excel and CI/CD pipelines.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The interface between the repository and test plan stands out as valuable, and I appreciate building the tests and scenarios in Test Lab and the ability to link defects throughout the system, which Atlassian ALM does better than any other testing products."
"The Atlassian ALM suite consists at least of JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket and HipChat - just the tools you need for organizing your teams in a very efficient way."
"If you can spend the little effort to configure Jira to support your more complex requirements management, then you can concentrate everything in one tool."
"The most valuable feature is the Scrum board."
"As a general purpose tool, JIRA and Confluence are still ahead of the competition."
"The main power of this tool is the integration between the different products of the Atlassian suite. We have good integration with work management with Java. This is the major strength from this provider."
"This solution fits very well into our agile product management environment."
"The main power of this tool is the integration between the different products of the Atlassian suite, and we have good integration with work management and software build automation (Bamboo), which is the major strength from this provider."
"Jira Align is good for project owners and managers and Release Train Engineers because it offers them more visibility."
"I found Confluence most valuable."
"The most valuable feature of Jira Align is the overall team vision."
"Jira Align's most valuable feature is the view of strategic control reports for high-level directors."
"Defect tracking and dashboards are the most valuable features of Jira Align."
"Align enables the capture of all capabilities."
"Align enables the capture of all capabilities and that's its best feature."
"The tool helps us to stick with the timeline and budget of our projects. It also helps me to identify dependencies and red flags and intervene wherever possible. I have found the key metrics tab also useful."
"The Defect feature. In one view you can see all your defects and you can push them into the different releases."
"I would recommend it; it is a very good product, very helpful in managing, and pretty good at checking things."
"Agile Central makes the transition easier and we don't have to think twice about how to implement this or keep track of features and user stories."
"Everything is right in one place, correlated, and related in the right way, and at the right level that allows for planning, execution, and tracking afterwards."
"When we moved to Agile, we were just using standard scrambled writings on the wall, and we knew with the scale of our organization we needed something to suit our needs, so we decided to invest in this product, which did meet our needs, especially in terms of scalability, as we knew that there were going to be so many licenses we would need."
"The most valuable features are the team-level interactions tracking of stories, features, and sprint."
"We've actually used it for virtual PI planning. We have teams in different locations, and we actually virtually do PI planning, big-room planning, using the tools."
"The most valuable feature is actually creating a field within there for architectural review, so when teams are struggling or have questions on the architecture or strategy that they take, they can actually flag that particular story, release, or project, and those can then be reviewed by the architecture team and the teams actually get additional information on how to course-correct, build on the architecture that we're trying to build throughout the organization, and get over road blocks much quicker."

Cons

"The solution is stable but at times, the performance is poor. It takes time to load and the response time is not up to the mark."
"The reports are not really customizable, which is something that they should improve on."
"Confluence is just a super-inadequate tool for editing documents."
"All Atlassian products are based on JAVA which makes it a bit difficult to trace problems if you don't have much JAVA skilled staff around."
"Frankly it's a really daunting exercise - challenging, problematic and very flaky."
"For project management, the scheduling of the project tasks should be simplified because it's complex and too rigid using the Atlassian Portfolio."
"The automation for scheduling software and doing software tests should be simplified because it's complex and too rigid."
"There is room for improvement in the high-level project management."
"The tool's corporate pricing is expensive."
"I've encountered limitations in using Jira Align for certain aspects, particularly in implementing OKRs. Jira Align's highest hierarchy is Epic, which may not always align perfectly for specific initiatives. Additionally, while Jira Align offers functionality for tracking OKRs and generating dashboards, I've found that it lacks in some areas. As a result, we've explored alternative solutions that better meet our needs in these areas. Its Kanban feature is also limited."
"The solution’s stability could be improved."
"Jira Align's setup process could be more straightforward, and they could make training and educational documentation more accessible."
"For future releases of Jira Align, I would suggest making workflows simpler and more user-friendly."
"I think the customizable reporting in Jira is inadequate as well compared to Azure DevOps."
"The solution needs to improve its pricing. It also needs to provide an integrated view of how other tasks are to be tracked. It would be also useful to see the integration of Confluence, Teams, and Slack into the product. I want to be able to communicate directly with others while using the product. I am also not sure if the integration of third-party alternate workflow tools like SAP would be possible."
"The framework could be better."
"More customization capabilities would be helpful. Providing a little bit more structure around how the system should be set up in terms of the hierarchy structure might be helpful as well."
"A lot of the features that we would be looking to add, I am learning may not be within Agile Central, but part of another CA tool set."
"It needs to become more mature for large organisations with better integration required to DevOps."
"Overall, standard/canned reporting options are probably the weakest part of the platform but exporting a data dump for reporting outside of the tool is very easy."
"One area for improvement might be the rigidity in role and access configurations, which require many process changes to fit the tool."
"The text editor is for sure an area with room for improvement."
"The navigation within the tool sometimes is a little tricky for me. I'm sure with more use, more practice, I'll become accustomed to it, but some of the things just aren't intuitive."
"Also, the defect-management cycle needs work."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a community edition available, but if the price were lower for the addons then more people would use the full version."

"Our customers buy licenses. We are not involved in its purchase."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate Jira Align a seven out of ten."

"The license for Jira Align is priced fairly."
"The tool is moderately expensive."
"Jira Align is quite expensive for small-to-medium companies, but it's quite reasonable for larger ones."
"From a price point, it's a cost effective solution for our needs."

"Frankly, pricing is expensive and needs to be carefully planned for when budgeting."
"I understand it's a little more expensive. That is why many people prefer Jira."
"It is expensive and may not be worthwhile for a small company."
"I don't know the exact pricing, but I think the tool is priced high. They provide quality workmanship, good software, regular upgrades, and they're always attentive and listen to users. Everything comes with a price. I think it's an expensive solution compared to Jira or other competitors, but it's a complete package."
"Rally Software costs $50 a month, and for a base account, that price is acceptable."
