Remote Wipe is one of the vital options everybody looks for in 42Gears SureMDM or any MDM product. We are trying to get the latest product updates as much as possible, and it is mostly automated. Two to three engineers are involved in the solution’s maintenance. I would recommend the solution to other users. Overall, I rate the solution an eight or nine out of ten.

Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Useful inventory tool, scalable, and initial installation straightforward
My advice to those getting started with Snow Device Manager would be to set up the support starting with the full package because most people normally only get the inventory section. It can be complicated in the beginning when you first start with the solution, we did not have support and it would have been a benefit to have. There are different license models and we could not find a lot of information about them. They have a decent library and we can find data on the different topics such as some types of license models. However, you have to be a paid member to have access. I rate Snow Device Manager a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution primarily to control mobile devices."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"This solution is very dynamic. I can do what I need to do with it."
"The most valuable features of 42Gears SureMDM include tracking location and pushing applications."
"The tool's most valuable feature is a remote connection to the devices. You can also push and lock applications. It helps us lock devices for professional use to control which applications can be installed."
"Its dashboards are valuable. It is easy to access dashboards and implement policies."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"The solution's customer support is good."
"We work completely in a Microsoft environment. Its interface is similar to other Microsoft solutions that we are using such as Microsoft Defender. So far, for our administrators, it is easy to use."
"It is very easy to use. It has a very easy interface."
"Its price is reasonable. It is a part of our M365 suite."
"What I like the most about Microsoft Intune is its ability to manage mobile devices. Through integration with System Center, it can also manage desktops and laptops."
"The solution is stable."
"The solution has reduced the risk of security breaches by 30%."
"The most valuable feature is probably mobile device management. Small businesses are coming under greater scrutiny and requirements for compliance as time goes on. We don't have to worry about a VPN because we can manage these devices, control company data, and lock users out. If needed, we can remotely wipe devices and deadman-switch them."
"Its price is reasonable. It is a part of our M365 suite."
"The inventory tool is the most valuable. We have some clients that would only do the entitlements section and search for contracts using Excel sheets. The inventory tool is a lot easier for the managing of licenses, installations, and devices on the tools is a huge benefit."

Cons

"The solution’s pricing could be made cheaper."
"The user interface and customization features are not the best and could be improved."
"User creation on Mac must be improved."
"The dashboards could be improved."
"The product is not so convenient to deploy or to configure."
"42Gears SureMDM needs to improve support because it may take around one to two days to receive a revert."
"Online information regarding used cases specific to 42Gears SureMDM will help us do configuration changes more comfortably."
"As a partner, we consider 42Gears to be a unified endpoint management (UEM) solution. So, we should be able to manage users with this particular solution. This is something that is currently not there. It is probably an area for improvement for 42Gears."
"Its configuration is fairly complicated. You have to do quite a bit of discovery to be able to deploy it for a customer. You have to ask them a lot of questions. So, its initial deployment is the biggest challenge. They should make it easier to deploy with the use of Wizards or something else. During the deployment stage, there could be profiles for the customers who are particularly wanting to use certain feature sets of Intune."
"Additional application deployment options e.g. MSI deployment with more complex parameters or additional side-by-side files, and non-MSI deployment options."
"Although Intune is from the same provider, its integration with other Microsoft products, like Microsoft Defender or Microsoft Purview, could be improved."
"While no specific feature requires immediate improvement, the ongoing expansion of reporting and inventory capabilities promises to enhance its utility."
"The main disadvantage seen today is regarding Linux clients. We have a lot of development resources that have Linux on their clients, and we can't manage them on the same platform, as we do with other clients such as macOS and Windows. So, it should have support for Linux clients. It should also have better support for macOS."
"There could be more wizard-driven policy development or creation. Some of the policies can get quite complex. If they have a wizard that assists the administrators in creating the policy, that will be a great job."
"The reporting causes problems because we're trying to gather data to present to the management, but we can't get the data they request. If a user has removed an application from his device, but it won't report it at exactly the right time. It takes time to sync from the device to the portal. Let's say we are preparing a list or deck for the number of compliant devices that meet all of the organization's requirements. In a real-time scenario, that device could be compliant, but it is showing as non-compliant on the portal. It sometimes hampers the overall decisions that we make on our end."
"In Microsoft Intune, there is significant slowness, and there needs to be more logs when we deploy software, parameters, or scripts to troubleshoot problems and errors in the interface, workstations, and Android devices."
"There are some licensing models that could be able to be managed in Snow Device Manager that are not, such as token-based models. This would be a benefit since the growth of blockchains."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Their pricing structure is very good against the competition. Pricing is definitely not a challenge here."
"I rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
"There is an option to make yearly or monthly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. Price-wise, the product is okay."
"I am satisfied with the price of this solution."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee for 42Gears SureMDM, which is comparatively expensive for an enterprise license."
"The tool is expensive and priced at 39 dollars yearly. The pricing is fixed and I would rate it a seven-point five out of ten."
"42Gears SureMDM is not an expensive solution."
"Microsoft Intune is expensive."
"Microsoft Intune has a user-based subscription model. You can go for a monthly or a yearly payment."
"Generally, we get favorable discounts, so it's not too bad. Obviously, we're looking at decreasing those wherever we can to bring value back to the public purse because it's all charity based. It's all publicly funded."
"The pricing for Intune and the competitor products are all within the same range, there is no true advantage when it comes to cost."
"Microsoft Intune costs about $7 per user per month, which is somewhat on the pricier end. That said, it's a reliable product, so it's fair."
"Microsoft Intune is available for individual purchase at a low per-device cost."
"For organizations that are a Microsoft shop, the pricing is compelling."
"Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
