Our company uses the solution as a VPN for 2,000 developers.

What is most valuable?

The solution is a super product that works as designed.

What needs improvement?

The solution's performance and stability are average.

The licensing model is expensive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability and performance are average.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is quite scalable.

Good services with a quick setup but if we lose connectivity we have to re-authenticate
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is easy."
  • "Whenever there's a drop in internet or a connection fluctuation, it gets disconnected automatically."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for connection. We connect to the internet with it.

What is most valuable?

It serves the purpose of allowing us to see the connection.

The initial setup is easy.

What needs improvement?

Whenever there's a drop in internet or a connection fluctuation, it gets disconnected automatically. If it would automatically reconnect, that would be the best thing so that we can have continuity and no breakdown in connectivity. It would save us from re-authenticating.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for four years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable unless there's a fluctuation in connections as the internet can fluctuate anytime. We can lose stuff, or the whole connectivity, the moment there's a slight microsecond of connectivity. It tries to reconnect. However, it's not always successful, and that's where the pain is.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I can't say the solution is very scalable. You need a specific version. Even if they come out with a new one, I'm not sure scaling is on the list of priorities.

We have more than 50 people using the product currently.

How are customer service and support?

We only really dealt with them during installation. The installation itself has a lot of hurdles to get the right version and right connectivity. We had our internal support team and they worked with Cisco to resolve everything.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Cisco is recognized across the industry, which is why we used them.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation is quite easy - if the person is aware of the right version. The only challenge that I have been facing with Cisco VPN is the version. If we are using an independent version, it's next to impossible. Therefore, we have to always ensure that we are using the right version of Cisco VPN, as there are multiple versions available on the internet and one can download anything.

Once you are using the right version, it hardly takes more than five minutes to set everything up.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The version I am using is free. There is no license cost.

What other advice do I have?

We are a customer and end-user.

I'm unsure which version of the solution we're on now.

I'd advise new users to ensure they get the right version. Otherwise, they will run into trouble.

I'd rate the solution six out of ten.

  • "The most valuable feature of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is its ease of use and simple interface. It's always available as long as I have a good network connection."

What is our primary use case?

I use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client all the time to connect to my operator's portal.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is its ease of use and simple interface. It's always available as long as I have a good network connection.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for more than 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is highly stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Since the pandemic, we have been forced to work from home. Everyone that wants to continue working, and access the corporate resources we have to use a VPN. Almost everyone uses this solution in my organization, which is approximately 1,000 people.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is very easy. The link for the solution was given to me by my headquarters and I installed it. Initially, we needed separate login credentials, but now we only need to use our normal corporate login credentials to log into the solution.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is very stable and very reliable. What I recommend is for others to have a stable network, that is all. The solution works well.

Easy for the end user but can be tricky for the developer
Pros and Cons
  • "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is very stable."
  • "The setup could be simplified for solutions engineers with a wizard."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client has been remote access, especially since the start of the pandemic. We use it to give our technicians access to our applications.

We also use the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to create secure firewall-to-firewall connections for certain applications.

What needs improvement?

The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is easy for end user to use. However, it can be difficult for the developer or solutions engineer to use because you need to have the infrastructure in place first. This is to do with key validation, certificates, and domain trust.

The setup could be simplified for solutions engineers with a wizard.

For how long have I used the solution?

I initially started using Cisco routers and switches in 1998, but I stopped using them for a while as I was focused on my other work. I started using Cisco again in 2012 and have been using it since as I do a lot of security solutions.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is scalable. However, the bandwidth and latency you need to use this solution is sometimes not available here in Africa. We run into trouble sometimes because of bandwidth.

How are customer service and support?

Overall, I prefer Microsoft's tech support because I noticed that Cisco does not provide enough of it. Sometimes, we do not have access to tech support. Also, you can only get tech support for registered devices.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend it. However, you first have to be sure that you have all the basics in place. You have to do your research and understand what the requirements of the solution are. It works for millions of people, so it will work for you.

It is also important to run some tests. That is what I always do. Don't go to the real alderman directly. Make your own tests.
