Trend Vision One is one of the best XDRs that has been introduced to the market. It has really good features and is basically inspired by Microsoft Defender. If you have gone through both of the consoles, you can see that Trend Micro is really inspired by Microsoft Defender. It has almost 14 applications integrated into a single console, along with the compliance part. It includes mobile device management, network security, endpoint security, as well as cloud app security. It has a really good GUI as well.
It does provide me with centralized visibility and management across protection layers. It can integrate all of the separate EDR, XDR, or SIEM solutions, and if you have cloud security applications, all can be integrated and viewed in a single console. If you have logged into just a single XDR console, you can access all the applications in that. If you're willing to access the EDR or server protection module separately, you can. But as I said, XDR provides a centralized view, and you can just navigate to that single URL, and with just a click, you can view all of the organizational assets within a single console.
Vision One sensors are basically endpoint security agents, and we are using them on multiple endpoints and servers as well.
Endpoint coverage is crucial because that's where the attacks can begin. For example, if a user receives a phishing email or an attachment, the EDR agent is very much capable of detecting those sorts of malware, which can be predefined IDS signature-based malware or a specially crafted ransomware file. The IDS signatures or traditional antivirus signatures will not be able to detect it, but what the Trend Micro EDR agent does is profile every user of that computer. Whenever there is a baseline violation, it creates a behavioral monitoring alert, and you can get an alert that this file has a behavioral behavior that resembles ransomware and is violating that person's baseline. In that scenario, a specially crafted file is detected by Trend Micro.
I have used the cyber risk exposure management capabilities, C-RAM capabilities. Cyber risk exposure management, as referred to C-RAM, was formerly called attack surface risk management, and it has three or four steps. The first is Discover, which usually discovers all of the organizational assets because sometimes identifying the right assets is crucial and is a compliance aspect as well. The discovery part is very important as it discovers all the organizational assets in your network. After that, it assesses the overall security configurations of those discovered assets. For example, if it has identified a public-facing asset, it will briefly look into all the security configurations of Trend Micro Email Security assigned to it, and if any best practices are missing, it will let you know. Additionally, it has a very good comparison chart. For example, if you are in the automobile industry, you can compare your organization's overall risk or exposure with some other brands in the same industry. If there is a company A in automobiles, it can compare its overall organizational risk with company B in the same automobile industry. That's a really good part of it as well.
It does help reduce noise from false positives. As I mentioned in the detection module, we can tweak the alert or the rule based on organizational needs. For instance, if there is a company A that wants to escalate alerts only when there are 40 or more login failures, I can easily change that threshold to 40. Alternatively, if another company prefers to escalate on even 20 or more login failures, I can tweak it likewise. We can create new custom rules and adjust already created rules to generally remove false positives.
It's a great feature. We have seen a lot of advancements in AI across multiple domains. The advancement of AI in cybersecurity is significantly beneficial. We can leverage the AI module for anything regarding alerts or configurations during investigations. When investigating an alert, I can just ask Trend Companion to provide a summary of that alert, making it very easy for the analyst to work.
Trend Micro Email Security is generally a bit more difficult to implement compared to the rest of the solutions such as network security modules or EDR modules, which are much easier. Trend Micro Email Security has some complexities in implementation, but there aren't any significant shortcomings that require Trend Micro to improve.
I rate the tech support an eight.

The implementation phase of both products is different. Barracuda Email Security is a standalone product, so it was a bit easier to implement. However, Trend Micro Email Security within Vision One has a multitude of protection modules and various protection policies regarding spam, filtering, IP reputation, etc. This complexity extends the time it takes to implement the solution and requires more expertise for deployment.
The advice I would give, tailored to Trend Micro, is to consider a solution that encompasses all the necessary protection modules, such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and email attachment checking, including links and embedded HTML injections. If a product meets those criteria, it should be your first consideration.
I would rate it a nine since every product has room for improvement. Thus, I wouldn't say it's a perfect ten. However, it does have really good features. I rate this review an eight overall.
It helps to reduce silos among vendors because it comes with a rich set of features in just a single console. That's why you don't have to delve into multiple cybersecurity solutions. You can just rely on a single console and product offering a comprehensive security module.
We are using the SaaS model for email security.
The detection modules that Trend Micro has generally have a very large dataset. It has more than 1,000 detection rules, so if an analyst investigates a single alert and spends around 15 to 20 minutes on average, Trend Micro correlates all related alerts based on source IP, destination IP, or baseline violation policies. It correlates all of those alerts into a single case and provides a generalized summary from Trend Companion AI, which makes it very easy for the analyst to understand what happened, along with root cause analysis graphs. It visualizes, for example, a computer that ran a CMD command resulting in another PowerShell script, etc. Other products require analysts to investigate alerts one by one, spending time, whereas Trend Micro simplifies it by converting it into a case using AI, making it easier for analysts to investigate and reducing response time.
For example, if there's an alert that triggers regularly, such as a PowerShell script that runs daily by a system administrator, I can whitelist it to save 15 to 20 minutes on the escalation part. Generally, in our SOC department, we follow a practice of creating a fine-tuning sheet. We ask clients about their thresholds, requirements, and industry-specific needs before tuning the product. With Trend Micro, I typically use that fine-tuning sheet to adjust the SIEM or solution according to those needs, effectively reducing false positives and ensuring that alerts triggered are genuine.

Business Email Compromise protection detects impersonation and spoofing attempts, quarantine management allows administrators to review and release legitimate emails when necessary, and detailed reporting and threat visibility help monitor email security trends and incidents.
The advanced phishing detection has been the most valuable feature for our organization. Phishing emails are one of the most common threats we face, and Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] does an excellent job of identifying suspicious sender behavior, impersonation attempts, malicious links, and other indicators of phishing attacks before they reach users. This makes our day-to-day work much easier because it has significantly reduced the number of phishing-related incidents that require manual investigation. Instead of spending time responding to user reports and analyzing suspicious emails, the security team can focus on more strategic tasks. Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is for email security, so all incoming and outgoing emails pass through this firewall, and after scanning and completing the whole process, the emails get delivered to the end user.
Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] has many features that track phishing and spoofing emails, and it also works on tiny URLs that are combined in the emails. I have seen solutions from email security gateways like Barracuda and Kaspersky, and I found these solutions work on a signature basis. Trend Micro has an edge because they can perform sandboxing inside and alter the URLs that are fake. These URLs get modified by Trend Micro, which is one of the best things about this product. The rest of the features are mostly common, such as regular expressions through which they reduce false alerts. These features remain common with the rest of the products, but Trend Micro has an edge on the modification of URLs, especially in the email.
The main benefits I have noticed since starting to work with Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is that it always gives protection in terms of cybersecurity attacks and international attacks when they come via email. It provides shelter and always protects you.
The areas of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] that could be improved or enhanced are the reporting side. When I was using the oldest product, IMSVA, I saw the reporting mechanism was not appropriate for representing information to management. The interface and this feature need to be improved. In a technical manner, Trend Micro is working awesomely.
For improving the user interface of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL], the best way to improve it is with things such as the search mechanism and exporting the results. The state of these capabilities at the moment is readable, but it needs to be in a more improved way.
I have been using Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] for more than two years.
The reliability and stability of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] for me is quite solid; till today, I have not found any downfall issue or any compromise issue. About three years back, we saw a Barracuda device get compromised from all the rest of the world, and at that moment, Barracuda just took back all the devices and appliances from the vendors. I have never heard about things such as these with Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] product, so right now it is a safe one.
I would evaluate the scalability of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] as favorable because this solution is scalable in terms of high availability. I found this is another feature in terms of scalability and the HA solution. I have seen that in Barracuda and even Kaspersky, it was not appropriate and comparable with Trend Micro.
It is very important for me to stay scalable and work at scale. When we are targeting any product and we just start to configure this product, there is a problem. For example, I started my mailbox user from one hundred, and after two years or after passing one and a half years, the number of users got extended from one hundred to five hundred. At that moment, if my firewall is not scalable, then I would definitely face another challenge. I have found this product remains very scalable, and it has the capability to overcome this issue.
I do often communicate with the technical support of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL]. In Pakistan, there is a company whose exact name I do not remember, but it has something to do with security. There is an engineer named Abid Baloch who is one of the finest consultants of Trend Micro email gateway I have found. He is a very fine person.
I decided to stop using Barracuda and start using Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] when I realized that most of the emails containing a malicious link and malicious code were being bypassed by Barracuda and even Kaspersky, which was not good for us. When I started using the IMSVA Trend Micro product, I realized it stops all sorts of junk emails which contain malicious code and malicious links. The link modification option was an awesome feature that supported us as email administrators.
The process for configuring Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] involves very few requirements. They just need a static IP and your domain name, and these are very small things that are not time-taking.
I have found it to be overall straightforward in configuration, and I have not found any challenge in configuration.
I did participate in the initial setup and installation of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL]. I worked on configuring it on an appliance rather than on a hardware box.
Regarding the return on investment with Trend Micro Email Security [EOL], a few years back I was using this product with that organization. Right now, I am not part of the management where the product was decided, so I cannot say anything about it. We are using this product and we are satisfied with it, but when you talk about getting the return on investment, I have never noticed it.
Before choosing Trend Micro Email Security [EOL], I evaluated other options and vendors such as Barracuda and Kaspersky. I have even used a FortiMail product, but when I started comparing it in terms of technicals, I found IMSVA to be a much better and finer product.
Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is better than other tools in respect to email capturing and the rules which have been set. Sometimes we have created rules and they did not work due to some relations, but I have found Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] product is very fine; it has the capability of deep inspection of email. Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] has too much of an edge when comparing apple to apple; it is far better than other products. Based on my experience with Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] so far, I rate it a ten out of ten.
I have been using Trend Micro Email Security for 10 years. Trend Micro initially called the product Hosted Email Security, and the name has changed year by year. Currently, it is called Cloud Email Gateway Protection, and the latest name is Trend Micro Email Security.
We use Trend Micro Email Security across large companies and small companies. Email addresses are at the core of these companies because of billing and sending notifications about other things to customers. We are using it in many places across many companies, both large and small.
The best features of Trend Micro Email Security are the logs and the quarantine functionality. I find it very helpful to locate something that was blocked or placed in quarantine. The search capability in the console is excellent.
Trend Micro Email Security is a great point and a great advantage for us. Here in Brazil, we experience a lot of spam and phishing, which are the most common attacks. When we implemented Trend Micro Email Security, we found that about 80% of emails were blocked because they are phishing and spam. Out of 100% of emails, 20% are clean mail and 80% are blocked as trash, phishing, and spam.
What I dislike is that I cannot change the spam score. The only changes available are low, very low, and high. I cannot make minimal adjustments to the score. I agree with Trend Micro in this situation, but I cannot change the settings for spam and virus detection. However, in content filtering, I have many changes available to me. I have many settings that I can adjust, including the ability to move emails to quarantine, stamp emails, or delete attachments.
Another limitation is that I cannot create a bypass by mail address. I can only create a bypass by sender. Last week, a customer reported to us that this is not ideal for them and not ideal for me.
I have been using Trend Micro Email Security for 10 years.
Downtime does not occur when I am using the solution. Mail arrives at its destination and is inspected for all elements, from connection to content filtering. I have never experienced downtime with this platform. I am not actively monitoring the solution at all times, but when I connect to the console, it is working normally. We do not have downtime issues.
Trend Micro Email Security is very scalable. We have a company that sends almost 2,000 to 3,000 emails per hour or more. I have not checked in the last month, but the capability is excellent. We do not have delays in delivering or receiving emails.
I contact technical support approximately once a month or every three to four months, depending on spam or phishing attacks. The solution normally works on its own, and I only open a case when I cannot resolve something. My team and I can solve most things ourselves, such as creating a bypass or a rule to bypass something. When I need high-level support, such as to classify spam, I contact Trend Micro.
If I were to rate the support on a scale from one to 10, with 10 being the highest, I would give it an eight. Sometimes I need to contact them one or two times, and eight is a good score for that level of support.

Deploying Trend Micro Email Security is very easy. I work at level three in my company, and I work with partners who are level one and level two. Last year, I followed the implementation, and they reported that it was very easy. The implementation, monitoring, and reporting for Trend Micro Email Security are all very easy because level one and level two technicians can implement it without any issues. Of course, the person needs to know about mail flow, MX records, and other things to make it work normally.
One person can deploy Trend Micro Email Security easily. However, that person needs to have access to external DNS to change the MX records and other settings. The requirement is knowledge about DNS, which makes the implementation very easy.
I cannot access pricing information at my company because I am only a technical person and implementation engineer. Based on what I understand from last year, I think the price is about one to three dollars per something, though I am not certain. For most companies in Brazil, this is a high price. This is the biggest consideration companies think about when deciding to implement Trend Micro Email Security. Companies understand how much this solution can help them, but the price is the major question regarding the acquisition of this solution.
The company I work for is a partner of both Trend Micro and Fortinet, and we have also used other solutions like open source options. We have used Rspamd and FortiMail by Fortinet. These are the alternatives that we have used.
Trend Micro told us about a feature called Cyber Risk Exposure Management. I have never tried this feature because I believe it requires another license. I have not implemented it.
Trend Micro Email Security has helped us detect and respond to threats faster. Email spam and phishing attacks are dynamic, and Trend Micro can help us block most of these attacks. However, sometimes when we encounter a zero-day spam variant, it takes time for Trend Micro, FortiMail, and other solutions to understand and classify the spam attack. The response from Trend Micro is helpful because we have access to a partner portal where we can send spam samples to Trend Micro, they reply and update the database for us, and we can become more secure.
Trend Micro Email Security requires minimal maintenance on our end. The maintenance and updates are handled by Trend Micro. I have never experienced downtime with Trend Micro Email Security. The SaaS deployment of Trend Micro is excellent, and I have never encountered any downtime with the solution. I think the deployment and development of Trend Micro Email Security is very strong.

I work with Trend Micro Email Security as a customer, and I also worked with an integrator.
I use Trend Micro Email Security to secure all access for all endpoints, for example, for enterprise or for company, and deploy the solution called ZTNA, Zero Trust Network Access, to secure all access and do not trust any device or any user regardless of the type of user or devices. The goal is to secure devices and control access for services such as email, servers, authentication or Active Directory, and sharing files, while securing all devices from malware, viruses, and different attacks from the internet. I deploy this solution with other solutions such as WAF for web application firewall, proxies, reverse proxies, and solution PAM for privileged access management, providing a comprehensive package for security on infrastructure, not only XDR or EDR or email security.
For centralized visibility and management across protection layers in Trend Micro, I use a console deployed on cloud services SaaS, which is the console for all the email solutions or devices or users, to manage policies, get information, and monitor all logs or information. This helps me follow if there are attacks or attempts to exploit vulnerabilities.
The coverage provided by Trend Micro Email Security is critical for my company network, as we correlate logs using a solution such as Splunk with EDR to manage different incidents handled by SOC teams.
Trend Vision One helps to reduce my time for detection and response.
Trend Micro Email Security reduces noise from false positives by deploying the solution in staging mode or learning mode to learn all traffic and compare it with signatures in the database. Sometimes legitimate traffic gets dropped by Trend Micro Email Security or our solution despite being valid and classified as false positives. In these cases, after learning traffic patterns, I manually check the reasons for drops or blocks and authorize the traffic, applying the new policy to permit this traffic.
For email security, I believe it could be improved by configuring different relay for SMTP, for example, with public email relay trust such as Safe-T-Go or SendGrid. I would apply different policies to classify or categorize emails such as spam or not spam and inspect the content of the email and attachments to check for viruses or malware. This process also involves testing the origin of the mail and applying policies to check, block, or redirect emails to quarantine.
I have been dealing with Trend Micro Email Security for three years or four years.
Regarding stability, I think Trend Micro Email Security is effective for protection, although I might occasionally notice some glitches or latency problems.

I think Trend Micro Email Security is not expensive compared to Cisco, as I am aware of Cisco's prices, which are significantly higher. Compared with other solutions such as Fortinet, Trend Micro is generally affordable.

CREM is a solution called Splunk, which I use with XDR, Trend Micro, along with different security components such as firewall, WAF, and proxies to collect all logs and centralize them on the database Splunk, database CM. This allows us to correlate and identify attacks, for example, by inspecting signature for traffic or flow count from the internet and analyzing different cases while providing reports for SOC teams if we find an attack signature that matches with the signature in the database.
In general, I recommend Trend Micro Email Security. I would rate this review a 7 out of 10.
I am still working with Trend Micro products, particularly Trend Micro Email Security. I work as a consultant as well as an architect using Trend Micro solutions. There are various organizations I work with—some in healthcare and some with their entire infrastructure on the cloud who do not want any on-premises deployment. Some organizations use Trend Micro for their server protection and laptop endpoint protection. For these customers, I recommend Trend Micro, and these customers are not particular about the price. Even if it is a little bit higher, they want Trend Micro because it is a good brand, so such customers would always prefer Trend Micro.
Trend Micro Email Security's anti-spam feature and endpoint protection against any kind of phishing attacks are very useful and work well when it comes to email security. The detection of spam and phishing attacks is excellent, and the false positive rate is very low.
Trend Micro Email Security provides visibility through a centralized dashboard. Across all their Trend Micro products, we can integrate and have dashboard visibility of the threats.
We deploy sensors at customer locations on the cloud or on-premises and connect them to their network, which gives us visibility of any network threats as well.
We were able to reduce the time by 30% in terms of detection and response around 40%.
Trend Micro Email Security has integrated AI features recently, but the more the learning of their AI engines will yield much better results. There are many zero-day attacks coming out into the market, and if the AI engine improves, then the product can be even more excellent.
AI capabilities need further enhancement. When there are repetitive emails, Trend Micro Email Security should provide the ability to scan the existing inbox as well. If a new spam email comes in and the sender has been blacklisted or detected, then all existing emails from that sender should automatically get quarantined. We should not need to rescan the entire inbox, and I think Trend Micro should bring in that kind of feature.
I have been using this solution for almost more than 15 years.

I recently came to know that Trend Micro changed their licensing model to a credit basis. Earlier, we used to have separate licenses for Trend Micro Email Security and endpoint security. Now they have come out with a credit-based licensing model. If you purchase credits in bulk, you can use them for any kind of solution. You may want to use 10 credits for email and 20 credits for endpoint, so across their Trend Micro products, you can use the credits. This change will definitely help customers and also Trend Micro in increasing their revenue.
Trend Micro Email Security deployment is very easy, and they have made it very simple. The configuration and implementation are pretty easy, and I did not find that very challenging.
Trend Micro Email Security was able to identify blind spots, and on a 10-point scale, I would say nine. Of course, there is fine-tuning which we may have to do in the implementation phase, which can improve the organization's asset discovery and detect blind spots.
I would rate Trend Micro Email Security at nine overall. Typically, when we deploy on AWS, we go from the AWS Marketplace. Wherever we have our own cloud, we go with a Trend Micro Email Security direct deployment.
For bigger organizations, we typically recommend Trend Micro Email Security. For smaller ones, if the customer is willing to go with Trend Micro Email Security only, then we go for that. If a customer is price sensitive, then we go with other competitive products.

My impressions of Trend's Vision One platform's ability to make it centralized is central management. I think centralized management or centralized visibility is very good. There is no problem, and perhaps only a minor case.
In the education portal, Trend Micro does not have the training or subscription training for Trend Micro Email Security gateway. One year ago, I had the training, but not for the email security gateway; it was Vision One XDR. At this moment, the training for Trend Micro Email Security gateway does not exist. The best features that Trend Micro Email Security offers are spam and phishing detection, which are the most preferred and commonly seen. It also scans attachments and includes ransomware protection features. The service updates to the latest antivirus solution signatures from the cloud and identifies threats in emails. It includes spam filtering, anti-spam, phishing, connection filtering, and scanning for all those aspects.
Since installing Trend Micro Email Security, it has significantly improved the overall security of my organization. It provides a detailed disposition of all threat types, including how many emails are quarantined, and delivers the best daily reports. I can configure it for visibility regarding what is happening in the organization on a day-to-day basis.
One improvement for Trend Micro Email Security would be addressing services that sometimes stop during updates from the internet. This can create issues at night when I need to manually reboot and restart services because they fail to operate or function. This poses a big challenge, and Trend Micro needs to work on that.
Regarding improvements, the user interface could be enhanced. If they could configure a better GUI, it should be easier to use; the current UI is not very good and could be improved.

Recently, I worked on a scenario where many spam and phishing malicious users targeted my organization through an attacker. The email came through the third-party email security gateway somehow, and when it reached Office 365 Exchange, since Trend Micro Email Security is deployed on the Exchange server, it quickly scans the email and identifies that it is malicious. After that, Trend Micro quarantined that email, and the threat was prevented from my end. I looked into the SMEX console on a daily health report and found that there were hundreds of emails quarantined. I did further investigation and found that the email was actually malicious, preventing the rest of the organization from being targeted by that phishing campaign.
I have noticed a big difference in the volume of spam and phishing threats being blocked with Trend Micro Email Security compared to before. Before using it, there were situations where emails passing through the exchange were not identified as malicious. Since SMEX works in the backend, it quickly identifies these threats, resulting in more than 6,000 emails getting quarantined weekly due to spam, phishing, and malware categories. I suggest Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] gateway as a solution and then implement it for that customer. After deploying, the customer receives a minimum number of spams with many emails quarantined by the product.
Some customers also come with DLP requirements. I create policies related to identifying specific keywords in mail subject or mail body and develop separate policies for those specific requirements.
The best features Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] offers are cloud sandboxing capabilities. All URLs and attachments are checked using their threat intelligence. Additionally, they have an email continuity feature where if a customer's email server goes down, Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] gateway queues their emails for nearly 10 days.
With many zero-day attacks happening today, solutions cannot find known virus signatures. Because of that, I check in the sandbox environment. These samples are uploaded to the sandbox environment and it provides fully detailed reports so I can see what the sandboxing capabilities output.
They also have domain-based tools and virus policies for both inbound and outbound protections. In the API solutions, they provide security solutions to OneDrive, SharePoint, and Google Workspace.
Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] has positively impacted my organization and my customers because after I deploy the solutions to customers, they protect against email-related attacks consistently.
