AI has helped classify threat types more accurately but product ownership can improve
Ease of use is important, and Abnormal Security's responsiveness and ability to deliver solutions when issues arise are crucial. However, there is always room for improvement, as achieving a perfect 10 means there is no more room for enhancement. For Abnormal Security, it's about leveraging AI even more, which they are already working on in their roadmap.

Centralized protection has transformed email security and incident investigations by reducing false positives and improving behavioral threat detection
The challenges include the challenge of finalizing a product that has all the security features or capabilities that are usually required. For example, if there is an EDR platform that's just monitoring IDS signatures, it won't be as beneficial as one with behavioral monitoring and other critical aspects required according to the best practices of the industry. Additionally, if there is a product that can provide a centralized view Trend Vision One does, it really grabs the customer's interest because customers usually don't have to buy separate EDR, XDR, or SIEM solutions or a console for their SOC analyst or email security team. These challenges consist of managing multiple teams and products. Trend Micro Email Security comes in and solves these problems.Trend Micro Email Security is generally a bit more difficult to implement compared to the rest of the solutions such as network security modules or EDR modules, which are much easier. Trend Micro Email Security has some complexities in implementation, but there aren't any significant shortcomings that require Trend Micro to improve.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Initial auto-remediation allows us to auto-remediate before the email lands in the end user's inbox for a split second."
"I like Abnormal's threat protection with auto-remediation, but I also love its abuse mailbox feature, which automatically responds to the end user. That feature has a super-valuable security component and helps improve the user experience."
"One of the things that I love about them is that the setup and installation are super easy. All you do is give them access to your Microsoft 365 tenant, and through APIs, they are able to do their work. They are doing all this through APIs, so you do not have to install the software and take a month to get it all set up to even see the value of the solution. You could be up and running in less than an hour."
"It does some really cool stuff that other tools aren't doing. We found it to be really effective, and the AI/ML functionality is really what differentiates them."
"Their ability to take things out of the mailbox and catch things much faster than users is excellent."
"What I like about Abnormal Security is that it notifies me if any of my partners or suppliers are experiencing a security breach by analyzing their database and identifying potential cyber threats."
"Ease of use is undoubtedly one of the most valuable features of Abnormal Security."
"It protects us from being business email compromised, which is invaluable for maintaining our security."
"The integration capability of the solution is good."
"The interface is really good."
"The solution's initial setup process was easy since it was deployed on the cloud."
"I have seen a huge decrease in phishing emails and spam being received by end users, with about 80% of observed spam and phishing emails being reduced."
"The product is quite strong, and that is one reason most clients are replacing their existing email security solutions with it."
"Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] has too much of an edge when comparing apple to apple; it is far better than other products."
"Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] has impacted my organization positively, and after implementing it, we noticed certain things which were missing, especially with the virtual analyzer, such as sandboxing and email continuity, then more on the plain text verifications and large emails."
"From an email security standpoint, the best features are that it is very convenient to configure new rules onto it and it gives very good insight on what has entered my system and what the email security solution has taken action upon."

Cons

"Abnormal should add more automatic reports. I have an open request to our account team for more notification and report types that can be sent automatically. For example, they have an awesome report that gets sent weekly, and I also want them monthly, so I don't need to do so much adding up when my director wants numbers over time."
"The biggest pain point for us is the lack of support for on-premise email systems."
"I would like to have the ability to customize the auto-remediation feature."
"The pricing for academic institutions and student mailboxes is challenging."
"There could be room for improvement in enhancing integration with other cybersecurity tools."
"One feature I'd love to see is outbound scanning."
"I, as such, do not have anything that I do not like or would like to add, but you could argue that because they are doing it API-based, there is a chance that something could slip through temporarily before they are able to pull it out. In theory, it could happen just because of the nature of the system. They are not in line with the delivery of the mail. They are kind of asynchronous, which is a pro as well as a con. If it is synchronous, then I know it would always stop them, but because it is asynchronous, things could get through temporarily or because of some system issues on the Microsoft side or their side. It is the nature of the beast, but it is a little bit of a con."
"There could be more selectable options and more granular selections available."
"There is a limitation when customers are using their email from a third-party solution that isn't from Trend Micro."
"The solution's interface, which we get from an admin perspective, sometimes gets confusing."
"The send box needs improvement to match other products."
"Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] can be improved, especially with the API, as more security enhancements and features such as a dashboard are needed to keep up with today's market of cloud-based solutions."
"The initial setup was straightforward. This is a virtual appliance, it takes a short time to deploy the solution. However, it is not difficult if you understand the technology. You must have good knowledge of the email security area to set up the product correctly. There are many features in this solution and a high risk of having mistakes with the configuration."
"The tool's dashboard is old."
"I rate Trend Micro support four out of 10. The support in our region isn't very good. They do not respond quickly when we open up a case."
"The areas of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] that could be improved or enhanced are the reporting side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Overall, we'd certainly prefer lower pricing, but Abnormal Security doesn't seem unreasonable compared to similar offerings in the market."
"Abnormal Security, on the other hand, provides the same level of functionality for just over $60,000 – that's half the price!"
"The pricing appears fair, and they demonstrate a genuine willingness to work with us on it."
"The license is based on the user count, so the number of users that have an email address in the organization."
"The tool must improve its pricing."
"Trend Micro Email Security's pricing is reasonable."
"The solution is inexpensive so we recommend it to small to mid-sized businesses."
"The price is more accessible compared to some other solutions, like FortiMail. It offers excellent value for the price."
"The cost is about $6,000 for 300 users for one year."
"I rate the product price a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"The solution's pricing is very optimum, given its quality, features, and stability."
"It's a VPN solution. Trend Micro is reasonably priced."
