Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] and Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) compete in the email security category. Trend Micro seems to have the upper hand in malware scanning strength, while Microsoft EOP provides better integration within its ecosystem.
Features: Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] offers robust malware scanning, spam filtering, and sandbox integration along with machine learning-driven threat detection. Microsoft EOP provides strong spam and phishing protection, Safe Attachment, Safe Links, and integrates directly with Microsoft ecosystems for seamless user experience.
Room for Improvement: Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] could improve its phishing email filtering, scam detection, and user dashboard interface. Microsoft EOP needs enhancements in providing better backup options, improving user interface design, and offering more detailed reporting functionalities.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is flexible with deployment options in Public Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, and On-premises but faces challenges in implementation complexity. Microsoft EOP mainly operates in the Public Cloud which simplifies deployment, benefiting from its Microsoft cloud integration, earning it positive customer service feedback.
Pricing and ROI: Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is seen as expensive but offers value in ROI by enhancing security posture, making it cost-effective long-term. Microsoft EOP's pricing is considered high; however, it's justified by its ecosystem integration, providing value despite user concerns about additional feature costs.
Since Trend Micro launched in the Pakistani market, it has offered a great return on investment with competitive financial costing.
The IT security team now spends significantly less time investigating phishing emails, cleaning up spam-related tickets, and responding to user-reported malicious messages.
Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is the best solution to provide email security.
If I had to rate the support I received on a scale of ten, I would give it a ten because he went way beyond what was expected for me.
Microsoft offers excellent 24/7 support.
My team is able to get the help they need when necessary.
We have local support here as well, with local Trend Micro engineers that visit the site whenever there is a high escalation case, arriving within hours if there is a geolocation difference, or within five to six hours.
Clients are generally very satisfied with the various types of support available.
The area of support that requires improvement would be the response time.
Overall, stability and scalability are two of its strong points, especially for organizations that want consistent protection without managing underlying infrastructure.
All of the SaaS modules I've worked with are highly scalable, and I do not face any reliability or availability issues while scaling.
We have a company that sends almost 2,000 to 3,000 emails per hour or more.
Once your MX record and all configurations are in place, you don't experience downtime.
I have never experienced downtime with this platform.
The reliability and stability of Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] for me is quite solid; till today, I have not found any downfall issue or any compromise issue.
Improving the search process by allowing searches with different types of parameters and facilitating searches within emails would be advantageous.
The user interface of Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) has room for improvement.
From an end-user point of view, I am quite happy with Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) because my favorite feature is the ease with which I can identify if an email is a phishing email or spam email.
If there is a product that can provide a centralized view Trend Vision One does, it really grabs the customer's interest because customers usually don't have to buy separate EDR, XDR, or SIEM solutions or a console for their SOC analyst or email security team.
I would apply different policies to classify or categorize emails such as spam or not spam and inspect the content of the email and attachments to check for viruses or malware.
There are other areas for improvement with Trend Micro Email Security [EOL], especially with the AI security, where additional protection should be added such as LLM, which is called large language models, AI agents, then there should be a vector database, AI APIs, that integration, and AI-generated contents, which would be great, especially with current features with Mimecast, and especially with the banners.
The pricing is reasonable.
Microsoft Exchange is more expensive compared to other services like Gmail.
I find the price of Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) to be fairly reasonable, and I have no problems with it.
Prices range from 11 to 12 dollars for licenses and can fluctuate up and down.
A great benefit is that if you buy a license for 100 servers and 100 mailboxes, and if your mailboxes increase to 120 while your servers decrease to 80, you can reallocate credits from unused email security to your mailboxes.
This is the biggest consideration companies think about when deciding to implement Trend Micro Email Security.
We've benefited from the anti-phishing features of Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP), as it has been quite accurate and has eliminated most of our phishing emails, making it really impressive.
The security features provided by Microsoft are robust.
It offers more features and better security, making it the best option for corporate environments.
It does provide me with centralized visibility and management across protection layers. It can integrate all of the separate EDR, XDR, or SIEM solutions, and if you have cloud security applications, all can be integrated and viewed in a single console.
When we implemented Trend Micro Email Security, we found that about 80% of emails were blocked because they are phishing and spam.
The service updates to the latest antivirus solution signatures from the cloud and identifies threats in emails.
