I work as an innovation and technology officer for an educational institution.

When considering a cloud-hosted email security gateway, what are the products available and which ones rate the highest? Which would you recommend?

There are quite a few options out there - Cisco, Mimecast, Barracuda, Proofpoint, Etc. -- I would definitely research them all to see what works best along with doing a proof of concept if possible. Nothing works best but most of these are also listed in Gartner as well - another good info source.
