Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Significantly reduces manual effort and improves team workflows through automated ticketing
We've used Agent Builder, IXP, and Maestro for orchestration. We have created context-grounded searches or chatbots using context grounding, and we also use context grounding within an Agentic flow where a bot or agent reads ServiceNow tickets to determine whether it has been assigned to the right work group. If it has not been assigned correctly due to human error, it automatically reassigns it to the right group. I would assess Agentic AI's ability to extract data points as effective. We created an agent for the purpose of extracting data, though not in a document. We created what we call an email conversation agent that engages with a customer, vendor, or someone in an email conversation with a set goal of extracting specific data points for an action to be performed subsequently. The one automation we have deployed in production involves the agent interacting with team members to collect data points and create a ServiceNow ticket. We appreciate almost all features of UiPath Platform, with one of the most successful ones being the use of Coms Mining. Most of the new features related to AI have all been good, and we use Agentic. We have already created a few agents and have started to use Maestro for a few flows, though we are not yet there to orchestrate an end-to-end workflow. We have good ROI from the automations we have developed with UiPath Platform, which far exceeds the investment in the platform. It has saved us tens of thousands of hours in manual effort, making the team members happy to pursue other things of value.

Citizen developers have automated finance processes and created reusable modules across entities
There are some weaknesses, though nothing on the top of my mind at the moment. From a process and OCR point of view, for example, we are currently doing a use case about e-invoicing. We feel the accuracy that the OCR provides from UiPath Studio was not as high as we had initially anticipated. We had to not go with that module that UiPath Studio offers. UiPath Studio has an a la carte mode where you can buy specific functionalities without having to buy the whole package. We decided to test out a few other tools in the market and bought a customized tool specifically for OCR purposes because UiPath Studio's accuracy was not as great. It comes more on a use case-to-use case basis. Certain use cases that we try show that certain functionalities could be improved, and there is definitely a scope for improvement. That being said, the functionalities that we bought UiPath Studio initially for work pretty well. We wanted a centralized automation hub, an Orchestrator, and maximum license utilization for the bots we were purchasing. They are basic, but at the same time, they are easy to use. The ease of use is one of the main reasons why we still favor UiPath Studio. The AI and OCR parts are something we are looking to explore more in the coming year, and that will probably give us more insights into the functionalities and their value. At the moment, we use Oracle as our ERP. We have not had much success integrating with Oracle so far. UiPath Studio offers a lot of customized integrations for SAP, but not much for Oracle Cloud. We had to leverage our internal ERP in-house team to build integrations. We used Oracle Cloud integrations rather than UiPath Studio integrations with respect to ERP. Every conference or event that UiPath Studio organizes, when we have a chance to speak with someone from UiPath Studio, we bring up Oracle Cloud integrations. I believe that in Europe and the US, Oracle Cloud is growing in usage, so we would appreciate more effort focused there. However, with Salesforce, we used a couple of cases with customer service in our company, and we integrated with it very smoothly without any blockers. At the moment, we have not explored AI and ML capabilities of UiPath Studio as much as we should have. We conducted a series of process discovery workshops in our company, and the use cases we received did not require AI or ML functionalities because they were core finance operations, and we did well with just the regular functionalities of UiPath Studio. We are still looking forward to finding a case where we could leverage AI and ML capabilities. We do not want to use AI functionalities just because we want to use them. It is more of a situation where we ask if it is needed, and we are still looking forward to finding a case that demands the need for AI functionalities or a nice-to-have feature. At the moment, we still have not used or explored those things of UiPath Studio.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The ability to create automation itself is a benefit that reduces human error and enhances efficiency. Technical support is unsurpassed."
"The valuable features that I see for automation with enterprise RPA are IQ Bot and Bot Insights."
"AA control room is one central system to manage our tasks. We found it excellent to administrate. It was used for easy scheduling of process/task in Remote desktop. This helped to avoid manual intervention to trigger tasks."
"Implementation of Automation Anywhere (AA) allows us to automate business processes and has brought productivity gains, error reduction, and speed of execution in multiple HR and Finance operations."
"We have used document processing from the beginning. We have a few use cases running in production, processing thousands of documents. With the success rate of more than 80%, it's efficiently extracting data for us."
"Its ease of deployment is the most valuable feature. We have found with many customers that it's quite easy to deploy."
"We valued the ease of use, when we were thinking about scaling out to the business. The recording feature, while not a developer tool - it is a tool for a business user who may not possess the thought process of a developer - we valued that in our evaluation."
"Its ease of use is the most valuable feature. It is easy to train developers and find the right people, then use them to build the tool."
"Technical support has been good. I am happy with their response times."
"One thing that I personally like very much is the drag-and-drop capability in UiPath. I don't have a coding background. One of the major selling points of the solution is that it requires very minimal coding to create a program. It's very easy to drag and drop to create the required fields from the tool."
"Overall, this solution is awesome."
"They've got the bolt on the market, so even with the new launches that happen with some of the new tools that came in, I think Connect really speaks to an overall automation strategy. I think that sets it apart."
"UiPath is a fast, time-saving, money-saving, energy-saving solution."
"What stands out about UiPath Platform is its feature set compared to other tools, and I would recommend this product to other users because of its extensive features."
"Since we automated the RPO process, our employees' submission and closure rate have been increased."
"We have about 150 processes in production with UiPath Platform; the one department that has the majority of those processes has not had to hire anybody else for those two years— their people are happy, and we've saved them money and the need for more people."
"Compared to other tools, UiPath Studio licensing cost is low."
"The fact that with UiPath Studio we can build reusable modules that we can use across automations has been specifically very useful to us as a company and team driving this project."
"UiPath Studio is good for automating business processes and repetitive tasks within my company."
"There are a lot of great things in UiPath Studio; whatever is required for the development is there, and I do not think I face any difficulty during the development of any use case from UiPath Studio's side."
"Right now we have it deployed, and it is dealing with about 50% of our document volume."

Cons

"When it comes to stability, complex bots always have issues."
"I attended and successfully completed the certification for the Document Automation Masterclass. For this, we tried to automate handwritten documents, but it was not successful. I believe there is room for improvement. This was the only use case we had in the last couple of months where we attempted this and did not get the desired results."
"The scripting can be a bit difficult."
"Automation Anywhere is troublesome for some people because of the way it is organized."
"If the deployment is not right, you get the frustration, not the automation."
"I would like to see GitHub or GitLab integration in the next version."
"The help Automation Anywhere offers during setup isn't great for smaller companies like ours."
"The only thing I would advocate for is making Automation Anywhere's developer environment Mac-enabled because many of our graduate students are coming out of school with Macs. Everything else in the Automation Anywhere world is built for Windows."
"There is not an out-of-the-box way to configure granularly."
"Orchestrator can be improved by making the landing page dashboard customizable based on what information and stats we want to see as an organization."
"I find UiPath Platform to be a bit expensive compared to other platforms, including certifications."
"The only thing missing is something to track the development cycle. We use third-party tools to do that."
"The UiPath community has grown quite a bit, but it's still not on par with the kind of support that you would find with Automation Anywhere. That is still missing because UiPath is a relatively new entrant in the market. The community support is growing, but that is definitely one of the areas that can be improved."
"UiPath could gain a lot more customers if they lowered the price a little and improved the license model with some more affordable tiers."
"UiPath needs to improve Orchestrator and its back office licenses."
"The quizzes were outdated. Some of the responses that are being rated aren't accurate."
"We are not seeing improved ROI because the bigger chunks of use cases we have already addressed. When we take it down to the medium size, the cost of development and deployment is something which is prohibitive and it doesn't make a good financial business case."
"We feel the accuracy that the OCR provides from UiPath Studio was not as high as we had initially anticipated."
"On the improving side, concerning costing, I am not sure because the cost of the new product is very high."
"Some of the recent upgraded versions, the package sometimes create problems, so that has to be tested first and then it should be available in UiPath Studio, because everybody wants to use the latest package, but sometimes when we are using the latest package, it creates problems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think the solution's pricing is reasonable."
"Automation Anywhere is thought to be quite expensive, especially for smaller organizations."
"We have saved time and money using this solution."
"Costs savings have been seen by employing bots for multiple shifts instead of people."
"While calculating the setup cost you should account for the server, virtual machines, product licenses, maintenance costs, and running costs."
"I am not responsible for the pricing part, but I know the pricing is competitive compared to other tools."
"In terms of pricing, it's not at all cheap, and that's a concern. The licensing cost is very high. While I don't know the exact prices of other tools, Microsoft offers the lowest pricing for its RPA platform compared to UiPath and Automation Anywhere."
"We purchase on a bot basis. Our costs are approximately $5,000."
"The licensing mechanism allows us to share licenses between different users."
"The licensing is too expensive. It is not a cheap product. We constantly have to build business cases where we have to justify our existence as an RPA team."
"The pricing and licensing are okay. It's quite affordable."
"The pricing is good compared to other software. Based on the features that UiPath is providing, and the community support, the price is reasonable."
"The way that the licensing is structured is confusing for some because there is different licensing if you're on the cloud versus if you're on-prem. There are unattended licences and then there are non-production licences and people get confused by that."
"There are three leaders in the market: UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism. UiPath is in-between the two. BluePrism is on the higher end when it comes to pricing. Automation Anywhere is on the lower side when it comes to pricing."
"I'd advise others to consider sharing the costs after ensuring they understand their expectations for utilizing the capacity of the robots."
"We find the yearly licensing cost affordable, and the UiPath pricing team is very accommodating to us. They allowed us to pay in installments during the integration phase. The friendly pricing is one of the main reasons we chose the solution."
