Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Simplifies device management, making performing various administrative tasks easier
Sometimes, the server gets slow. The dashboard is only getting loaded. Jamf Pro offers many features, but some improvements could make it even more user-friendly. For example, streamlining authentication controls would enhance its security value. Too many complex settings on the dashboard make it hard for users to navigate. Simplifying the settings would make it easier to use. Adding a more interactive and cleaner UI design would also improve the user experience. Additionally, automatically categorizing policies and configurations by type would be helpful, making the dashboard more organized. Introducing auto-filtering based on categories would streamline configuration management. On the security side, enabling two-factor authentication for console login would provide better protection than single sign-on. Only authorized users can access sensitive data, like the asset inventory stored in the console. 2FA would help keep the system secure, preventing unauthorized access even if login credentials are compromised. Device management needs automation, and Jamf is likely to integrate Apple's Apple Intelligence into its framework once it's available. This integration is expected to be a significant enhancement for the Jamf console, potentially transforming the way device management is handled.

Provides effective mobile security for small companies yet needs a clearer user interface and better support
We provide services to small companies with ten to fifty clients. It is important for us, as we operate as an IT company and system integrator, to deploy solutions like Sophos Mobile for mobile security and device management The features that stand out for maintaining mobile security are…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Intune device restriction policies enable me to enforce limitations on the device, like blocking the mobile camera or restricting the employees from using and inserting USB devices, including thumb drives and flash drives."
"It's easy to manage."
"Overall, the stability is good."
"Microsoft Intune is easy to use, and it is able to enforce policies towards multiple devices. It is able to bring multiple classes of devices into the same security posture. I found that very useful."
"I am easily able to manage devices and assets, especially laptops and desktops."
"The solution is easy to use, simple to understand for those new to using it, and combined with the other Microsoft products it makes for an overall good package."
"The solution has significantly improved managing a diverse range of devices. We have observed enhancements across Android, iOS, and Windows devices."
"The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types, we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager(MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company detail on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."
"Being able to easily deploy apps and patches to our client computers with minimal hands-on time from our techs has been huge."
"We were able to dramatically enhance our cybersecurity, and better support our users."
"The time that we save in hours for new deployments, redeployments, application upgrades and OS upgrades more than makes up for the cost of the product."
"The zero-day support regarding new Apple hardware and Apple operating systems is very good."
"It is a first-rate product and well known in the industry as the gold standard for Apple device management."
"Jamf Pro is the only product we can use at the moment because they are ahead of their competitors in zero-touch deployment for the end-user. Jamf Pro has a self-service feature that has helped us minimize our support cases. That's a feature the customers like very much."
"Smart groups and just the way MDM works are valuable. We like all the features that they have. We try to use it as much as possible, and then we have the support and community involvement to reach out to."
"We are able to manage our full fleet of devices and can simply integrate with all of our systems."
"The solution provides us with data protection."
"The most effective features for device security are the policy and management capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is the mobile device management capability. You can easily manage all of your mobile devices."
"Sophos has good customer support, and that is crucial for sustaining business relationships."
"The remote management and cloud-based maintenance features of this solution are very useful for our organization."
"Sophos Mobile offers features like cash mode and safe mode, and allows for central management, which I find effective for device security, though it depends on the clients' needs and the types of mobile devices used."
"The solution is quite user-friendly."
"They always add more features to this product."

Cons

"The reporting dashboard is really limited."
"The solution could improve its flexibility."
"When we implemented Intune, it would have been helpful if Microsoft had provided some videos or data about Intune."
"Sometimes, customers compare it with AirWatch, but the concept of Intune is different from other solutions. It's an application management app. It gets a bit difficult to explain it to customers, but it's not a product limitation. It takes a presale document or presentation to explain it to customers."
"What would make this product better is adding more security policies and features in the next upgrade."
"I'm still playing around with it and haven't had any issues with the product yet, but support can definitely be improved."
"It would be awesome if Microsoft opened their API so we could filter more properties. If we have to do anything outside of Intune that requires a third-party solution to talk back to it, we're very limited in what we can do."
"It would be better if they can reduce the cost of the license."
"I would like to see improved integration of some of the additional tools that users create within Jamf itself."
"I think that there should also be more integrations with Jamf that could better the intelligence-gathering when making business decisions."
"Jamf Pro should be standardized into one MDM product to make it more affordable and accessible."
"The integrated patch feature is good but needs some tweaking."
"An in-house chat room would be a great way to communicate with your team when you aren't physically present with them."
"The new remote support tool is still lacking features compared to other industry solutions."
"We would like to have some of the extension attributes configured so that those extension attributes can be part of the core structure. They can make some of the extension attributes the actual attributes. They shouldn't be like add-ons."
"The self Service UI needs some real improvement; they recently revamped the app, but I don't know if those changes have been for the better."
"There is room for improvement in Sophos Mobile's security management for endpoint security."
"To manage the Apple devices is not that straightforward there are a lot of features the other third parties solutions are offering which Sophos Mobile is not."
"I noticed that the VPN aspect is not included in Sophos Mobile."
"The application might have issues with other software."
"There's a need for better protection against hackers trying to access key accounts such as bank accounts."
"There may be necessary adjustments that need to be made because we are facing certain restrictions within the work profile."
"We encounter issues while working with iOS."
"The setup should be made easier."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost is handled through our Office 365 license, so I have yet to be able to compare it directly with other tools in its class."
"The Intune license model is costly."
"It's bundled with Business Premium and an E3 license, which is beneficial. If you have to pay extra, it's pricey, but with the bundled package, it's acceptable. They recently increased the Business Premium pricing, which we don't appreciate. The price increase and yearly commitment are causing some problems for us."
"I rate Intune an eight out of ten for affordability. It's bundled with the 365 licensing, which is competitive overall."
"The tool is cheaper than our company's other MDM tools."
"Intune comes with the licensing that is common for large organizations. However, Microsoft has recently released many add-ons that are very expensive, especially for large organizations or corporations."
"It's a part of Microsoft 365 and E5 licenses. Microsoft's strategy of making every feature in Microsoft Intune paid needs optimization. Remote control is one of the basic features, not a luxury feature, yet we must pay for it. I"
"Microsoft Intune is not cost-effective as a standalone product."
"The only thing that is kicking us a bit is the rand to the dollar exchange rate. It is priced in dollars. Every time the rand goes worse, it just costs more. I would rate it a four out of five in terms of pricing because it is very unpredictable because of the rand to the dollar exchange rate."
"We have signed a licensing contract for three years. There is an option to buy an annual license subscription, but we opted for three years as it came with a 25% or 30% discount."
"I know that as a school we get a discounted price, which is good because without it we would not be able to afford it."
"The price of this solution is a bit high but it is worth the money for the features. There is an annual license for the use of this solution."
"The setup cost is in the training, which is the most important step of your journey."
"I think it pays for itself to let Jamf host the server."
"This product is surely worth the cost of implementation."
"Jamf Pro is on the expensive side and could be slightly cheaper."
"The licensing fees are paid based on a one-year or two-year subscription."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"The licensing is paid on a yearly basis."
"The product is not suitable for smaller companies because its price is high."
"My company needs to make yearly payments for the licensing charges attached to the product."
"Sophos Mobile is inexpensive."
"Apple is starting to do beta testing with their own solutions and for much cheaper than Sophos Mobile's price."
