Simple to use but incredibly powerful
Great for rapid root cause, data is presented back in a way that is easy for non technical stakeholders to absorb (DBAs, Cap Analysts, testers, developers, application support), easy deployment on Oracle and SQL systems. Trending all SQL statements over time is invaluable to understand step changes. i.e is this slow because it is processing more or because an explain plan has changed.Dashboards and reports are very powerful.

Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Pros

"Great for rapid root cause, data is presented back in a way that is easy for non technical stakeholders to absorb (DBAs, Cap Analysts, testers, developers, application support), easy deployment on Oracle and SQL systems."
"Gives an excellent perspective on the state of the system at fault as well as the past!"
"New Relic has positively impacted my organization by providing peace of mind to my clients, and it also gives a lot of insight to their marketing department on how users interact with their websites or how they work with them."
"Great product which helps in quality and performance assurance of your webapps."
"Helped us pin point the exact piece causing the performance bottleneck by using the transaction trace view."
"To me, the most valuable feature of New Relic APM is the traceability, mainly based on the time travel method, so you get the overall response time, which is pretty helpful for developers and ADR techs looking into issues on a deeper level. New Relic APM is a very good, tailor-made solution."
"Its most valuable feature is application performance monitoring, as it gives me a complete x-ray of the application to understand where the bottlenecks are, then improve and fix issues."
"The simplicity of the dashboard is very good."
"The alerting is by far the most valuable feature, closely followed by the way the platform correlates incidents across applications and components."
"Overall, it improves the experience of the customers and site users."

Cons

"Web monitoring could be more robust and intuitive."
"The user interface requires little change-but this problem is small compared to the capabilities of the tool"
"I would like an infrastructure network that provides real-time views, showing the issues."
"It is very difficult to award the service level cycles at an endpoint level."
"The support could improve because they are not very fast and the information was not very accurate."
"There are certain scenarios where I feel additional functionalities could enhance New Relic, such as gaining more data about calls."
"Alerts tend to show how an entire cluster is performing, and not only that a given node is having an issue."
"I wish it had more insight into what might be causing a particular slowness issue. It finds the function, but it would be great to have insight into what’s slow."
"There are some 5 minutes interruptions that we don't know where they come from, 24x7 confirmed the web was ok so it must be the tool."
"The APIs could be better. I would also like more APIs and features to integrate with streaming solutions, like Kinesis or Kafka."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing is fine."
"Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was easy. The product is easy to deploy and manage, which is why our company purchased through the AWS Marketplace."
"The solution is less expensive than AppNeta."
"New Relic is either free with low retention and minimal functionalities, or expensive with full options and retention."
"The solution is quite expensive. It costs around $5,000 a month. There aren't any additional costs above that."
"I think it's overpriced for the technical support that we get. We spent over 1,00,000 USD a year."
"They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."
"The price of New Relic APM could be less expensive. We are using the New Relic APM pro account and it is more costly. When compared to competitors the solution's pricing should be much more realistic."
