Ability to segregate data, well-suited for medium enterprises and installation is quick
We have some challenges. If we look at the challenges we face in the market, there are a few products like Sophos, where there are features of MaaS360, and the IBM EDR product, ReaQta. So, there are features from both ReaQta and MaaS360 available in Sophos, as well as a few other products, which we have challenges in replacing. MaaS360 definitely caters to a few of the requirements, but when someone is going for a solution, all the features are not available in MaaS360. It is like a combo, MaaS360, and IBM ReaQta, that is, EDR, ReaQta. Both of them, together as a combo plan, actually offer a very good proposition in terms of market competitors. There are a few products like Sophos and another product which have features from both endpoint detection and response and mobile device management. Because we have two different products with those features, we face challenges in proposing a particular product for the client. It is like a marketing challenge. The way other competitor products are available in the market. So it is better to have a different positive team, but, again, to remain in competition and have better scalability. So, IBM needs to integrate a few features that the competitors have in their products. No doubt, this is a different product, MaaS360. We call it MDM. We call it endpoint mobile device management. Then we call it different names that MaaS360 falls into. But when we are talking about competitor products, to remain in the competition, you need to have features that others provide. IBM surely has those features in other products, but not in MaaS360. The only challenge was replacing already existing competitor products with MaaS360. So, that’s the only area where we struggle because they always come with those requirements that they are already getting in the competitor’s product, which is not available in IBM’s MaaS360. So this product lacks some features, like Unified Endpoint Management.

Simplifies device management, making performing various administrative tasks easier
Sometimes, the server gets slow. The dashboard is only getting loaded. Jamf Pro offers many features, but some improvements could make it even more user-friendly. For example, streamlining authentication controls would enhance its security value. Too many complex settings on the dashboard make it hard for users to navigate. Simplifying the settings would make it easier to use. Adding a more interactive and cleaner UI design would also improve the user experience. Additionally, automatically categorizing policies and configurations by type would be helpful, making the dashboard more organized. Introducing auto-filtering based on categories would streamline configuration management. On the security side, enabling two-factor authentication for console login would provide better protection than single sign-on. Only authorized users can access sensitive data, like the asset inventory stored in the console. 2FA would help keep the system secure, preventing unauthorized access even if login credentials are compromised. Device management needs automation, and Jamf is likely to integrate Apple's Apple Intelligence into its framework once it's available. This integration is expected to be a significant enhancement for the Jamf console, potentially transforming the way device management is handled.

Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"All features that we have deployed are useful. We do access office emails on our smartphones, and we have complete sync with Active Directory. Our calendar also gets synced in the MaaS360 application. We also ensure that the data from these official applications is not being misused by any of the employees. We have disabled cut, copy, paste, and all such features. It ensures that all the official data that our employees have on their smartphones is secure. Security is the paramount feature that we value in this product."
"MaaS can force people to lock their phones. Not everyone likes having a PIN and other security features on their phones, but this sets a requirement that you can't get your emails unless you have a PIN on your phone. That was a good feature, and we were able to easily increase the PIN from four digits to six digits. Overall, it was pretty user-friendly."
"It is a stable solution."
"The best feature is the ability to control mobile phones, wipe and containerize the data, and keep employees' work data separate from personal data."
"The most valuable feature is that it's comprehensive - it covers mobile devices and laptops in one package."
"The most valuable features are mobile device management and security (which allows you to quarantine infected devices)."
"I like the way mobile device management works in terms of how the data is segregated, as well as the office and personal data."
"The product’s most valuable feature is email, browser, and application security."
"The solution has good integration with Google and has high performance for our Mac fleet of devices."
"The action and trigger is the main thing for us. We like the kind of repetitive script which we can use there."
"I have found the most valuable feature to be the policies."
"The most valuable features are the Jamf agent and the API."
"Jamf Pro is the only product we can use at the moment because they are ahead of their competitors in zero-touch deployment for the end-user. Jamf Pro has a self-service feature that has helped us minimize our support cases. That's a feature the customers like very much."
"Jamf Pro has allowed us to make sure settings for our devices are easily installed so our end-users don't need to worry about a significant amount of steps for setup. We also use this to send applications to devices."
"The zero-day support regarding new Apple hardware and Apple operating systems is very good."
"It offers professionals an endless amount of possibilities to keep users and the company happy."
"The features I found most valuable in Intune are its user visibility and troubleshooting options."
"Previously, we used on-prem SCCM to deploy applications we built manually. After migrating to Intune, we automated and streamlined the process of deploying applications with autopilot. I can do more with my day. I can manage more applications and ensure that they're updated without monitoring and manually starting that process all over again."
"The security-related tools are excellent; these features allow us to secure devices, lock them down, and ensure compliance."
"Intune significantly simplifies application deployment, mobile application management, and policy enforcement, such as restricting user access to specific applications, thereby enhancing overall environment security."
"When managing a large number of devices in an organization, it becomes easy to handle them on one platform using Microsoft Intune."
"Stable product that's easy to set up compared to other MDM products."
"I like how Intune brings everything into one place. For example, you can set up conditional access to applications and devices inside Intune. I also like the segregation inside the Intune devices. You can segregate them by Windows, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Android. You can sort it by platform, so you don't need to go into the devices section."
"Dynamic groups allow us to set conditions for automatic membership, eliminating the need for user intervention or manual review and ensuring a seamless workflow."

Cons

"An area for improvement would be handshaking with Microsoft in terms of trying to get a DLP on Microsoft OS."
"Can be added process of export/import environment configuration to simplify any migration processes."
"The user interface could definitely use some improvement."
"It's difficult for someone like me to set up a phone that doesn't require a SIM card, like Apple's new phones."
"The user experience really isn't so good."
"Configuring policies is difficult in IBM MaaS360. It also needs to improve usability."
"The interface is clunky and the layout is a bit outdated. Also, I don't think MaaS360 has as many features as Intune. It doesn't integrate with Office as seamlessly as Intune does, which isn't surprising, given that Intune and Office are Microsoft products."
"The product needs to improve tech support."
"I would like to see Jamf add more training tutorials and documentation."
"A more modern UI in the next release will make the product absolutely perfect."
"There is room for improvement with Jamf Pro, especially regarding updates."
"Sometimes, the server gets slow. The dashboard is only getting loaded."
"I think it would be best if Jamf had support tiers."
"Patch Management needs work to be efficient."
"For patch management in Jamf, two Smart Groups are required as patch policies cannot be scoped as of now. This is not a major issue, as there is a great workaround by using a wrapped "member of" duplicate Smart Group. However, being able to avoid two Smart Groups for patch management would be nice."
"The patch management needs improvement in Jamf Pro."
"There should be more focus on mobile device security and integration."
"Technical support is not that great."
"The configuration could be better by consolidating options and making it simpler."
"Microsoft support was not very responsive, and it took approximately one and a half months to get on a call to clear what the problem was."
"I would like to see Intune improve its handling of hybrid domain joins."
"I also hope the cost of Remote Help will decrease because it's a much-needed Intune function."
"There's a significant discrepancy in Intune pricing between tenants."
"A major challenge is making all the products work within device management solutions like Intune. It would be beneficial if Microsoft removed support for older products much earlier in the process."

"I rate IBM MaaS360's pricing a six out of ten."
"JumpStart looks a little bit pricey; however, it is worth every penny."
"We have signed a licensing contract for three years. There is an option to buy an annual license subscription, but we opted for three years as it came with a 25% or 30% discount."
"The cost of any licensing is certainly outweighed by the time saved from manually managing Apple devices."
"I know that as a school we get a discounted price, which is good because without it we would not be able to afford it."
"Don’t go into a sales call without knowing all the details of your system because Jamf has a ton of tools outside of Jamf Pro to offer and knowing them ahead of time is a must."
"The licensing costs for this solution are high."
"The cost of Jamf is certainly worth the investment."
"The only thing that is kicking us a bit is the rand to the dollar exchange rate. It is priced in dollars. Every time the rand goes worse, it just costs more. I would rate it a four out of five in terms of pricing because it is very unpredictable because of the rand to the dollar exchange rate."
