Worked right the first time out-of-the-box; we were provisioning to AWS within 10 minutes
Ironically, most of the features that we might have wanted to see were already introduced in the product announcement today, from what we saw in the beta, which was kind of cool. You can't come to market unless you have Azure support, and Azure was all over every slide we saw, so that was pretty cool. A couple of things that I did see, there are a couple of security features that need to be enhanced. It is way too easy to provision a VM onto a public cloud, wide open to everybody. So, there are a couple of issues there. We are obviously going to talk with the product teams and the architects about some of those things; a handful of things here and there. Most of the things we were looking for were already included. Things that we had requested a month ago, we are now seeing them here: Azure Stack integration and the OneView integration. These were the things we were saying, "Hey, if these were there, it would be really cool. We could use this." All of a sudden, "Oh hey, guess what is going to be at launch?" I am very eager to get my hands on the next version of this product, and to see what may or may not be missing.

Significant enhancement in operations with powerful discovery and analytics, yet pricing structure poses challenges
ServiceNow IT Operations Management provides out-of-the-box dashboards. Along with the dashboard, it also provides the Operations Workspace, which is very useful for operations teams. There is a functionality called Performance Analytics, which we are also using to develop some dashboards for the senior leadership and operations team where they can perform trend analysis of alerts and events happening across the infrastructure and application landscape. These dashboards are really useful here. ServiceNow IT Operations Management's biggest plus point is that it is a platform. ITOM is just one module that ServiceNow IT Operations Management offers, but they provide seamless integration of ITOM with their other modules such as ITSM, where we can leverage the AIs for discovery, perform impact analysis, which essentially helps to enhance the overall IT operations and reduce the downtime and MTTR.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"OneSphere being a SaaS platform, you do not have to deal with those issues, it is in quickly and you can begin utilizing it right away."
"With all the time and investment in all the competitive products, still it makes them not even a competitor anymore, with how this works."
"It provided out-of-the-box integrations, requiring only minimal effort, typically a couple of days, to massage those systems into a seamless operation."
"The most valuable features of the solution are discovery, cloud governance, event management, and service mapping."
"Our ROI since implementing ServiceNow ITOM has been significant."
"From my perspective as an asset manager, the most valuable feature of the solution is the configuration management portion, where I can actively add something to the database."
"The solution is easy to use and has great orchestration and automation capabilities."
"It is easy to use and simple to learn."
"Before that, if a switch went down, we'd get 600 tickets; now, we get only one."
"You can improve integrations of the operation with the solution."

Cons

"We are looking to be able to set a hard budget for the workspaces or projects."
"A couple of things that I did see, there are a couple of security features that need to be enhanced."
"The service discovery tool should include HR automations that automatically remove an employee who is leaving."
"The most complaints we have received from our clients are the solution's discovery aspect. I've heard a few concerns from the customers where we have to integrate with a third-party tool to make a full-fledged discovery along with ServiceNow. ServiceNow alone does not do the total capacity of the discovery. The discovery portion of ServiceNow IT Operations Management is not in-depth as what the customers are looking for. The information that it gathers from the assets is a little more limited than what other tools provide."
"The pricing is high."
"The solution needs to add mobilization, where we can connect mobile devices or wireless devices to do wireless scanning and bring assets into the database."
"ServiceNow's pricing is expensive. A more streamlined configuration process tailored to use cases and industry would be beneficial."
"Service mapping is pretty limited."
"There are not enough apps in the app store to expand functionality. There should be more made available."
"There are some limitations with Discovery; some areas are not available in the installation. I would like the solution to be able to discover more devices. That will remove the need to have multiple tools."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It is expensive. It is around 10 Euros per server per month."
"There are additional costs, you have to pay more for everything."
"The price of ServiceNow IT Operations Management is expensive."
"We obtained discovery licenses at about seven dollars Australian per unit, which we found to be reasonable and competitive."
"The pricing is high and may be excluding the small to medium-sized enterprise businesses."
"ServiceNow IT Operations Management is a costly solution. I'd rate the price at ten, on a scale from one to ten with one being the lowest and ten being the highest price. Some clients do have a problem with the price, but most find that the solution is worth the cost."
"It is moderately expensive. The pricing itself and the licensing options are depending on the model and the customization."
"The solution is costly compared to the products offered by its competitors."
