Stable with good cross-integration between modules, but the training needs to be improved
We mainly use UiPath as our RPA platform. I have looked at several other solutions that include the bigger ones, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere. We have experience in developing bots in all three of these. It is difficult to move from UiPath to EdgeVerve when UiPath is so good at getting people in the door. They've got a great ecosystem and a great training model. Every other system is more challenging to use. To get an EdgeVerve license, for example, you need to have an NDA in place to use it. Blue Prism is even worse, although, with them, you just have to pay more money. By not democratizing the software and the way to utilize it, smaller companies like EdgeVerve and even Blue Prism, to a certain extent, have suffered in terms of growth. The three leaders at the top do a pretty good job. Outside of workflow, they do a pretty good job, and that's why the customers buy, so you have to be strong on those. As far as the tools are concerned, RPA is RPA, and everybody generally does it in the same way. What is probably going to start distinguishing between products is the use of AI. When AI really overtakes the selectors for RDA, robotic desktop automation, when you have to really rely on the backdrop of the DOM to get at the element, the use of AI and more efficient on-prem AI solutions is going to really make that a better experience. The on-premises distinction is important because there's latency when you hit the cloud. Ultimately, to me, the toolsets are all the same. Drag and drop, the ability to create custom activities in terms of creating your libraries, and that kind of thing, they're all there. This past year has been ridiculous in terms of how all of the tools have progressed. What they were a year ago versus what they are today, is a considerable and significant difference. For example, I have totally redesigned my solutions and architectures over the past year.

Easy to use and clear documentation with notes explaining each step available
Areas, where I see some room for improvement would be the use of reading details from an Excel file. Most of the time, it's difficult when I say looping through a huge data set, and it's very difficult for the bot to interact with those data sets unless it starts offering the Excel file. As of today, from the reports I've worked with, I noticed that most reports are empty columns and two rows. So if Kryon can associate with that and extract those deposits into a variable, and the tools can easily fit out to column dash and two rows and columns, it will be nice. But as of today, the bot doesn't have the functionality to detect variables. We have to do it on the Excel file itself. I also noticed that when it comes to the use of bots, not everyone has the same knowledge, and it can be difficult to do certain research unless you have advanced knowledge of what you need to do. I also noticed that in the community, most people don't use it, and it's quite difficult when you need certain support.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"EdgeVerve is a bit like Appian, where they have full suites that have a great deal of functionality."
"I would say that the cross-integration between different modules, such as between the OCR, RPA, and ML, is the most valuable feature."
"The recording feature enables us to record what we're doing, like typing or clicking the mouse, and to identify objects on the screen. We basically teach the program how to type, instead of a person. That's the most powerful feature."
"The thing that we find the most value in is the Process Discovery component and the ability to really see what users are doing on a day-to-day basis. We're starting to make sense of the processes that they're doing and getting visibility into what they're doing. Overall, the Process Discovery is very good."
"It has improved our organizational process in inbound and outbound tourism; the previous process was very complex and took at least a day for the users, now it is fully automated and saving a lot of hours for our back office."
"I like Kryon RPA's ability to use automated and manual processes with any bot."
"All our users have no technical background, but Kryon is really simple and intuitive and our business adapted very quickly and easily, which is why we love the system so much and are always trying to put more processes into the system and make more use cases because of the simplicity and the intuitive nature of the system."
"Errors have reduced by 80 percent based on the processes that we have automated by the sheer fact that we don't have people touching so many of them."
"We have been using Kryon Process Discovery for about a year now. With our initial tests and monitoring just a couple people, we were able to identify 79 possible use cases within a one-month period."
"[One of the valuable features] is the triggers. It's relatively simple to activate it. You can activate it via Control-M or via email. It has a lot of built-in triggers which enable us to easily activate the jobs."

Cons

"Better training and better accessibility of the tools are the things that need to be improved."
"Better training and better accessibility of the tools are the things that need to be improved."
"When a project is very big, a lot of memory is taken up. Then, machines don't have enough memory. This could be improved upon to be more efficient."
"We need stronger governance to know, when a transaction is done, whether it worked or failed; strong logging. That would be helpful."
"There isn't any additional feature I'd like added to Kryon RPA because it's a good service, but the support is very, very bad, so that area could be improved."
"Kryon could be easier to use, especially in comparison to UiPath."
"There are limitations on integrations with other platforms like ServiceNow. There are some issues integrating. It's not a really an open system. The product, its design, etc., is really good, but they have to look at the openness, how to integrate with other products which are available in the market, as well as with our own solutions. You can do integration but it is not so easy."
"I have seen some very minor occurrences where Kryon's interactions with Microsoft Office might cause the robot to hang. However, it is about one to two percent of the time where we are seeing this happen. It is such a small percentage that it's not even something that we are overly worried about. This would be where they might have some stability issues, but it could be the Microsoft Office API or how they are interacting together."
"Kryon RPA need to enhance the robustness of our multi-board architecture to ensure the availability of bots on multiple machines."
"The fact is that we found this bug something like six months ago and it's still not in the new version."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"They license per robot and we have 25 robots. You get so many robot licenses and can allocate those licenses to either attended, unintended, or Process Discovery bots. If you have 25 licenses, for example, you could have 20 automation bots and five process discovery. This allocation is flexible. There are also maintenance costs."
"In addition to the standard licensing costs, there are manpower costs."
"Can't beat the price... There are different pricing levels for every bot or unattended bot. You can buy however many you want. You'll need an additional virtual machine for it to work on."
"We're paying in the neighborhood of about $66,000 a year. The cost is fairly similar to its competitors' costs. It might have been a little bit more reasonable than the others, and that cost was with Process Discovery in addition."
"It is very cheap. I would rate the pricing a three out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"Compared to its competitors, Kryon RPA's pricing is very competitive."
"Kryon is slightly more expensive compared to UiPath."
"We have a yearly license. It's about $5,000 per year."

Although Nintex RPA is expensive, it is somewhat affordable considering its features. I would rate the cost aspect as an eight out of ten.
What needs improvement with Nintex RPA?
We need better training and community support in Indonesia. It would be helpful to have more representatives who can provide training and share knowledge, as our team lacks the deep skills required...
