Automates processes efficiently with cost-effective scaling and robust customer support
Web scraping is quite good since it offers a lot of possibilities. Another important feature for me is its compatibility with MBI, the Power that is ISEQUADO Centers. I appreciate the ability to scale and increase the number of bots or studios without additional expense. Automate's non-reliance on additional orchestrators makes it quite cost-effective.

Stable with good cross-integration between modules, but the training needs to be improved
We mainly use UiPath as our RPA platform. I have looked at several other solutions that include the bigger ones, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere. We have experience in developing bots in all three of these. It is difficult to move from UiPath to EdgeVerve when UiPath is so good at getting people in the door. They've got a great ecosystem and a great training model. Every other system is more challenging to use. To get an EdgeVerve license, for example, you need to have an NDA in place to use it. Blue Prism is even worse, although, with them, you just have to pay more money. By not democratizing the software and the way to utilize it, smaller companies like EdgeVerve and even Blue Prism, to a certain extent, have suffered in terms of growth. The three leaders at the top do a pretty good job. Outside of workflow, they do a pretty good job, and that's why the customers buy, so you have to be strong on those. As far as the tools are concerned, RPA is RPA, and everybody generally does it in the same way. What is probably going to start distinguishing between products is the use of AI. When AI really overtakes the selectors for RDA, robotic desktop automation, when you have to really rely on the backdrop of the DOM to get at the element, the use of AI and more efficient on-prem AI solutions is going to really make that a better experience. The on-premises distinction is important because there's latency when you hit the cloud. Ultimately, to me, the toolsets are all the same. Drag and drop, the ability to create custom activities in terms of creating your libraries, and that kind of thing, they're all there. This past year has been ridiculous in terms of how all of the tools have progressed. What they were a year ago versus what they are today, is a considerable and significant difference. For example, I have totally redesigned my solutions and architectures over the past year.

Automation streamlines onboarding and reduces the load on customer service agents
As the head of the division, I do not use UiPath myself. However, I am the decision-maker, so I review the features. The combination of both full-attended and half-attended automation, where you can automate tasks and still interact when required, is very useful. It provides efficiency by freeing staff from unnecessary tasks, resulting in a balanced workload and more productive use of an employee's time. The tool has a noticeable ROI, and the investment is worth every penny as it reduces tedious tasks and improves scalability. It is very easy to use. During the COVID lockdown, my son who was 11 at the time attended a UiPath and Automation Anywhere training with me. He has already automated his school tasks requiring saving data and uploading some documents to the portal. If a kid can do this, it shows how easy it is.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find it very user-friendly. Our IT department and other departments can seamlessly collaborate without requiring extensive training. As a business department, we particularly value this aspect, as our team doesn't consist of many IT users. However, we couldn't solely rely on a drag-and-drop approach to implement and utilize the solution within our departments."
"We have tried other RPA solutions like UiPath or Automation Anywhere. They are fantastic products but complex, and it's hard to understand everything. It would be best if you had a skilled developer or several. Automate is easy to implement, administer, and use. It's appropriate for us because our cases are simple and easy to automate. We don't need complicated tools with many features; We prefer to get a significant ROI quickly."
"The product effectively handles all the tasks we require."
"The licensing of the product is very good. You only need to license it once and then you have it forever."
"This product is quite easy to install, learn, and use, with our new employees being able to start using it in projects for clients after only two weeks of internal training."
"The solution is continuously adding more integrations to help with workflows and bot and task creation."
"We are still in the process of rolling it to production and tweaking it (our AD groups are a mess), but the improvements are priceless. Having users ID's created the same way every time without human error is the best part. We don't need to worry about why groups were not added, user rights not set to folders or missing a private folder being created, typos or just even knowing when things are done and logged."
"I like the interface; it makes managing automation easy. We can set different schedules and templates for each task."
"I would say that the cross-integration between different modules, such as between the OCR, RPA, and ML, is the most valuable feature."
"Compared to other solutions, training is very valuable. You can easily access the resources. There is a community edition which is a plus and something that other tools don't offer. Accessibility is the best feature."
"The Orchestrator is great because you schedule it, and that's it, you don't have to worry about it."
"The solution is quick and easy to implement. It's fairly easy, and it means clients don't have to get IT involved."
"The product has freed up employee time - and it's not just the employee time. We do have some triggers that run. Some jobs are run that people use to manually do at night and weekends. We also don't have to hire additional people just to learn 80 different types of things in a claim and identify correctness manually. The robots will go through and then they can identify if there are specific things that are wrong. That part will go to our experts and they'll review those exact issues."
"The tool's most valuable feature is unattended robots."
"With UiPath, we can automate any module, whether it is a desktop application, web application, or native application."
"StudioX allows me to build simple automation projects without the need to engage our development team."
"Scraping data from the application using OCR and other text validation features is amazing in UiPath."

Cons

"The solution has a very weak knowledge base."
"The intelligent automation feature could be improved. It's interesting because it's simple, but the automation quality isn't always good. It's easy to use, but sometimes you need to make a slight improvement to the automation, and that's not so easy."
"The documentation for errors needs improvement as many of the error messages we receive are very vague."
"The OCR for Hebrew text needs to be improved."
"While this solution is continually improving, as it is now, the user interface could use improvement when I compare it to a product like UiPath."
"The interface could be more user-friendly and easier to navigate."
"I would like the updates to be easier to deploy. Integration with Amazon S3 is somewhat lacking."
"I would like to see some better web automation, a wizard like the one in the product WinAutomation would be very nice."
"Better training and better accessibility of the tools are the things that need to be improved."
"There is room for improvement in browser automation, particularly regarding access and success rates."
"There is some room for improvement in the area of error handling. I had to create a custom approach to error handling. If there were some sort of activity or workflow that could be easily dropped in to help support that, it would be good. Error handling and logging, as well as process logging would be a big help."
"You can't get the response that you want until the people in the field decide that they want to change and adopt it. That will be the challenge. Managing the change is huge for us. It's always an obstacle. It's not that, can you automate something, it's more of a question of, internally, will they let you automate something?"
"Some of the transitions from the forum to submitting a ticket are a little clunky. If a ticket could be submitted on my behalf on the forum, then have me boot over to where the ticket is, that is fine. Just kicking me out of the forum, then having me submit a ticket seems counterintuitive to me."
"The community can be increased and enhanced. That way, if we are facing an issue and need an easy solution, we can then use the community."
"The error handling is in need of improvement. We'd had a problem tracking when errors occur, and troubleshooting how things are captured in production."
"With UiPath, one needs the UiPath Assistant installed on every machine, which is unrealistic as many people use the same machine in the hospital."
"Support should be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I'm only involved in running the product and maintaining the systems, so I can't speak to the cost."
"Compared to other products, the pricing model for this solution is much more convenient, flexible, and adaptable to the Portuguese reality."
"It has gone up in price. The price of Fortra's Automate has increased since we first started using it. It does a lot but also costs a lot. It was a lot more affordable before Fortra owned the software."
"It comes with a package that costs approximately $20,000 USD per year."
"Once you buy the software, you just pay for the support for backend help."
"While solutions like UiPath and Blue Prism cost around $11,000-$12,000 for each license, this product costs around $7,000 and you can keep it forever."
"The pricing is quite reasonable. We can run the process with one bot. The limitation is at the server level because they have some resources, and sometimes that is enough. It isn't too expensive, so you can get a good return off of one, and you can also have a pack of five bots that is quite competitive."
"From a distributor's side, one of the biggest selling points is its price point. Without going into any numbers, compared to UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism, we're significantly cheaper. The main difference is that other competitors usually charge you per process. However, in Automate's case, it's priced per bot. So, a bot can run multiple processes at the same time, but you are only priced for a single bot."

"It is a bit expensive, but it is cheaper than Blue Prism. We have six robots in total. There are no other costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"We saw ROI in 15 days."
"An area for improvement comes down to licensing. We need to sell UiPath to our company first... If we could have more of a trial period, since we're already licensed with Studio, and go through that trial period for key applications to see if they can benefit us, that would be helpful."
"Licensing should be reduced and price should be cut down a bit."
"The price and setup costs need to be supported by a strong business case."
"This solution is priced less compared with other products."
"Its price is reasonable. UiPath's licensing is not a problem for us because we are a big company, but for small companies that need automation, it is difficult to afford. I am from Sri Lanka, and in our country, SMBs do not invest this amount of money into licensing. For a big company, it is not an issue."
"This solution is worth the investment."
