I have faced stability issues when upgrading BeyondTrust Password Safe solution. The upgrade process can be lengthy compared to other modules. For example, upgrading the appliance and reconfiguring HA is easier in PRA. However, in BeyondTrust Password Safe, the upgrade activity can take longer, and I have occasionally experienced being stuck during appliance version upgrades, sometimes duplicating the upgrade. Regarding additional features, we have good features in BeyondTrust Password Safe compared to other modules, such as Secret Safe to secure secrets and the check-in, check-out functionality. We already have the main features, but I think it would be helpful if BeyondTrust implemented a heartbeat check feature on the privileged account level. This feature would allow PAM to check the credentials of privileged accounts, indicating if they are correct or not, showing if the heartbeat has failed if they are wrong.

One of the challenges regarding Saviynt is the lack of material available on the web, as searching on Google or YouTube often yields little information. Advertising Saviynt is necessary because I was not aware of it a couple of months ago, and it is a very helpful product for many organizations. In India, IGA solutions are not widely recognized, and Saviynt can utilize this point by promoting itself in the cybersecurity field. A significant challenge is the lack of people discussing Saviynt in the open market, as the forums provide slower responses compared to platforms like Reddit. Advancements related to AI would be very helpful. Saviynt should provide pricing for their university certifications, which is currently not publicly available. Information about enrolling requires an ID that is not easily obtained, as it can only be acquired through an organization. Some small wishlist features are related to APIs. As I work on projects, I find certain features to be much needed, but at a glance, they may not seem necessary. As I continue working with Saviynt, these small API-related features become apparent and would greatly enhance the experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the architecture capabilities, which allow designated server components for high availability and failover. It works well with identity and access management solutions, allowing users to be automatically onboarded and offboarded. The account mapping feature makes rollout seamless. The session monitoring capabilities are excellent, with keystroke and graphical monitoring. This enhanced our security posture by providing detailed accounts of user actions. It helped us pass our SOX audits."
"From a management and audit perspective, we've seen a lot of improvement because now, we're secure in the sense that we know where that access is coming from, and we know who is requesting the access."
"It simplifies your compliance and tracking to benchmark other credentials and analytics."
"BeyondTrust is three times less expensive than CyberArk."
"The ability to manage privileged account passwords is the most valuable feature, giving us the capability of rotating passwords as soon as an event is triggered."
"The CI/CD and REST API are also satisfactory; the solution has a full PAM feature set and they all work well."
"Overall, I rate BeyondTrust Password Safe as nine out of ten."
"Team Passwords gives us better control over our passwords."
"Saviynt has improved our organization, as it is a straightforward solution that allows you to configure things very fast, partly because of the JSON and Autobox functionality."
"Saviynt has better integration with enterprise systems like SAP, Microsoft, Adobe, and AWS."
"The dedicated Freshdesk platform is a user community and a step in the right direction for offering learning resources."
"We have found the implementation process to be very easy."
"Saviynt has a lot of potential with many features available for users."
"Saviynt has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing the time for a project where we previously used a spreadsheet for manual work to keep the data, and helped reduce that time from around two weeks to two to three days or even less."
"Saviynt has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing the time for a project where we previously used a spreadsheet for manual work to keep the data."
"We use the solution primarily because of its great features."

Cons

"If there was one thing, it would be having the documentation standardized."
"BeyondTrust Password Safe wasn't compatible with the patching we used to put on our server."
"There is a limited capacity on the appliance, which I wasn't informed about when I purchased the product. I can have a maximum of 150 rules per appliance; any more than that and rule processing becomes very complex, especially regarding password revision."
"Its documentation is currently complicated, and it is not good."
"The pricing is not cheap, but it could be better."
"There is a limited capacity on the appliance, which I wasn't informed about when I purchased the product. I can have a maximum of 150 rules per appliance; any more than that and rule processing becomes very complex, especially regarding password revision. Hitting a capacity limit you don't know about can be problematic. Ideally, we would not have a limited capacity, allowing us to be in a completely managed state with password rotation for every service account, not just the highly privileged ones."
"The early version of this solution was not stable. It was terrible, but I think they eventually got their act together and it's better now so that they can compete."
"If they can create a single platform to create a connector, it would be better than using the RBS server."
"Both SailPoint IdentityNow and Saviynt have some bugs, but SailPoint is considered more mature with fewer bugs due to its longer establishment in the market since around 2005. SailPoint had its share of bugs in the early days, but they have resolved them over time, resulting in a stable product. Saviynt, on the other hand, was launched around 2013 or 2014 and is actively working to improve its product. Despite having some bugs, Saviynt is making progress and aims to build a stable product, but it is not there yet."
"It is time-consuming to troubleshoot issues."
"The company needs to do more to establish standard practices within the product itself that are common in the industry."
"On a scale from one to ten (where one is the worst and ten is the best), I would rate my experience with Saviynt so far as maybe only a four-out-of-ten."
"The product's stability is not easy to maintain."
"The configuration process at the beginning can be difficult, depending on the complexity of the company."

"The customer support and implementation services need to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution is not cheap—it's a very expensive solution. Very, very expensive compared to the features and functions that they offer."
"The product is quite affordable."
"When you buy Password Safe and perform your initial Discovery, you have all these servers that are added to your assets in BeyondTrust, but you're not using a license until you actually start managing the systems. BeyondTrust's licensing is based on the systems when they're managed, which means when an administrator is able to connect to the server through BeyondTrust with a managed account. There would be a privileged account on the endpoint when the licensing starts. A significant advantage to that is that there are many organizations that want to evaluate their environment prior to automatic management."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"The pricing of BeyondTrust is very good as compared to other products. That was the main reason we decided to go with BeyondTrust at first."
"At the time, BeyondTrust was significantly cheaper than CyberArk. Pricing-wise, if I remember correctly, it goes by assets. The pricing was negotiated for our instances based on the number of assets that we onboard into the system. It is a little different from CyberArk, where the pricing is by users. So, it depends. If you have a lot of assets, it can get very expensive."
"It has subscription-based licensing. BeyondTrust is three times less expensive than CyberArk."
"We just pay for Password Safe. Session management is included, but we don't use it. There aren't any additional costs besides the standard licensing fees. We pay for an annual license."
"We are not into the licensing part. The clients take care of the licensing part."
"The price of the license for this product is quite expensive."
"Saviynt has a competitive price."
"If you are investing in securing your data and avoiding any non-compliance issues, then yes, it is certainly recommended. To put it plainly, if you're willing to pay fines and aren't concerned about the misuse of data, then there might not be a problem. However, if you intend to safeguard the data of your employees, vendors, and customers, it becomes crucial. In this context, managing data security requires preventive and detective measures, such as enforcing segregation of duties and regularly reviewing permissions. Throughout an individual's life cycle within an organization or customer life cycle, various access permissions are granted. Without taking action on these permissions, there is a risk of exposure later on. If individuals retain access after leaving the organization, it poses a serious security threat. Implementing solutions like Saviynt can address these challenges, ensuring continuous access review, generating reports, alerts, and identifying potential risks."
"If you need to make any changes then there are additional fees."
"The pricing is comparable to Azure Entra ID. Kind of the same"
"Saviynt's pricing is acceptable and licensing costs are yearly."
"Saviynt's pricing is reasonable."
