Continuous replication has protected critical servers and supports seamless disaster recovery drills
Some features that I personally feel can be improved are more simplified monitoring and reporting. As I previously mentioned, the console shows the replication status. If it had more detailed dashboards or built-in reports for DR readiness, it would make it easier for the teams to track everything in one place. Another improvement would be cost visibility and optimization guidance in optimizing the cost and also giving us visibility of it. Because the staging resources and replication storage are running continuously, it would be very helpful for organizations and users if AWS provided clearer cost insights, recommendations, and remediations to optimize the DR environment. It would also be useful if AWS added more automation options for application-level recovery, such as easier ways to handle IP changes, domain name system (DNS) updates, or application dependencies during failover. Additionally, we can simplify the setup and configuration process. For someone new to the service, understanding the staging settings, launch templates, and networking configurations can take some time. Setup simplicity and more detailed monitoring and alerting features would be beneficial. If we could add that, we can easily track the replication health, lag, and potential issues. Instead of relying on other additional tools for monitoring and alerting features, we can rely on AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery itself.

Easy to work and offers features for tape backups, disk backups, and whatever you want
NovaStor NovaBACKUP is still working on new features because they listen to the customers and integrate their needs into new versions. You can see they make progress with each new version. They are much faster than IBM, where you sometimes have to wait years for new features. It is very quick and fast. NovaStor have big competitors like Veeam, which is very fast and aggressive. It's good, but it depends on the price. I think NovaStor might be cheaper. They have a direct connection to their developers and sales teams, which makes getting answers very fast. Veeam has a lot of features, like a special reporting tool. However, I've heard from some customers that Veeam wasn't always the right decision because it couldn't work with their environment. But Veeam has aggressive marketing, which is why they are probably in first place at the moment, besides Commvault. IBM has lost its competitive edge and is trying to catch up, but it might be too late.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Pros

"What I like about ECR AWS is that it is a fully managed service, so I don't need to manage the underlying infrastructure or worry about scalability in AWS concerning building, maintenance, security, and high availability."
"I appreciate the automated orchestration of recovery processes in this solution, especially integration with Route 53 and automatically using Route 53 to switch to a different region directly."
"The strong points are the stability and scalability of the solution, as well as the convenience of it being cloud-based."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward, it's not complex."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward, it's not complex."
"It's on the cheaper side and not too expensive for users."
"We went from an organization with minimal to no disaster recovery. I was able to spin up the disaster recovery environment with AWS rather quickly and meet business requirements."
"AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery is a reliable and cost-effective solution for business continuity."
"NovaBACKUP protects your entire system with a single solution."
"It is a very good and easy-to-use tool for non-technical people."
"It's the easiest way to configure it."
"Veeam Backup and Replication is in its own world - Nothing out there that is even close to this product that I could recommend."
"The solution is easy to use and have good performance."
"Storage gateway feature is very flexible."
"The solution can work for companies no matter the size or scope."
"I was blown away by the manageability and scalability of Veeam and after a little more research ordered it."
"Rotating HDDs for offline backups use case Instant VM recovery with vPower NFS and SureBackup, also known as Recovery Assurance by other vendors."
"The most valuable feature is the instant recovery."
"We managed to restore all of the VMs from Veeam and disaster recovery was executed as expected within our SLA."

Cons

"When I started working with AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, one of the major issues I faced during my learning phase was understanding the initial setup and replication process."
"However, the user interface and monitoring features could be improved to make the overall experience better."
"Since I have to view everything on the console, the previous application solutions like IBM and Sanavi showed the RPO and RTO status directly. In AWS Disaster Recovery Service, these details are not available, making it difficult to check my replication status."
"The user interface, customer support, and the recovery time for the current customer query could use improvement."
"I would like to see better support for creating and working with archives."
"CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is charging clients $20 to do the DR backups. It is an expensive solution."
"The failback could be improved. It should be more intuitive."
"We believe that customer support for AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery needs to be improved because although we do raise tickets, the response can take some time."
"The price of NovaStor NovaBACKUP is an area that can be considered as a weakness or drawback, where improvements are required."
"The room for improvement lies in the compatibility of NovaBACKUP with older operating systems."
"My main concern about Veeam is that I hope our backups will still be secure in the event of a security incident such as a ransomware attack."
"The whole graphical user interface is very easy, but the details are hidden deeply and aren't easily visible. You cannot easily see the details and explore or choose the settings. We should be able to easily explore various settings and options. If you can see more details while choosing the settings or setting it up, it helps in getting the software running easily. For example, in Microsoft Office, you can see much more in the interface than in Veeam Backup & Replication. It is a complex software. It is not easy to use, and you must know what to do and where to do. The user manual has more than a thousand pages. They should give some direct information through the software and improve the software. On their website, they can have some videos and step-by-step information to make us come straight to our goals."
"think backing up from physical servers and ransomware security needs some improvements."
"There should be better use of the external hard drives."
"Veeam Data Platform lacks cyber security tools."
"Creating reports is a bit difficult, and you have to spend some time on it."
"Device backup could be improved."
"Apart from security improvements, enhancing compatibility with various platforms and addressing limitations related to integration and verification would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We were happy with the pricing that they gave us."
"It has saved us money from having to buy hardware for disaster recovery."
"I feel the product's pricing is a good value. Licensing is pretty straightforward."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is charging clients $20 to do the DR backups. It is an expensive solution."
"Where the price adds up, there are CloudEndure licenses, then there is the AWS environment, and finally, there is the AWS storage, so cumulatively, it adds up."
"The pricing is better now that they had come out with the Tier 2 which replicates a little less often. In comparison to what I would have been spending with any other type of solution, the pricing is fair."
"I rate the price of CloudEndure Disaster Recovery a six out of ten."
"My company has to make yearly payments towards the solution's maintenance and support."
"Pricing is not the cheapest, but you get a lot of value for your money."
"We pay on an annual basis. We pay roughly $12,000 for our software subscription."
"The pricing of the solution could be reduced."
"The product is not that expensive."
"If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive."
"The pricing is reasonable and falls within the average range."
"If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
"The cost is based on the number of core servers."
