Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Delivers increased productivity and streamlines fraud processing in banking, though technical support could be faster
Before AutomationEdge, we had to hire coder-level experts with Java or Python knowledge. This approach took considerable time and required error handling to automate processes. With this tool, all processes are automatically handled with errors, and no-code automation is available. The cost for a developer is now significantly lower. Previously, we hired highly efficient developers with high salary packages. The license cost of 5 to 10 lakhs per year for one person to automate is equivalent to a person's annual salary. With the license and a developer hired at 3 to 5 lakhs, we can automate 40 to 50 processes.

Automates browsing tasks without needing a server connection
I have worked with Microsoft Power Platform and UiPath. Kofax RPA offers a comprehensive solution with built-in capabilities for executing tasks like running Excel files and web automation without additional servers. They provide their browsers and extensions. For functions such as OCR, image processing, and data extraction, Kofax has built-in features powered by their engine, eliminating the need for subscriptions to external technologies like Microsoft Cognitive Services or Google Search. One of Kofax RPA's strongest features is its on-premise solution, which is particularly beneficial for organizations operating in regions with data regulations, such as the UAE.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automation Anywhere is a very good tool because it helps you along the process."
"Automation Anywhere uses a single dashboard that you can access anywhere, and it also provides more insights versus other products, which is an advantage of using Automation Anywhere."
"There is one user registration process in one application where there is no API which has been published by that framework. This is a very proprietary in one application by a third-party. So, there was a help desk, and whenever a call went to the help desk, they had a front-end where they created these user registrations. Now, this is completely automated for all employees who are onboarded. We receive the data, it is put it into Excel, and from Excel, it will update it into the particular tool where the registration happens."
"One thing that I want to highlight AA for is their security standards."
"Training videos are very good and include detailed examples, which is really helpful for beginners."
"None of the commands are unique to Automation Anywhere, which allows beginners to leverage external knowledge."
"One of the most valuable features is object cloning, the ability to get into websites and do things faster."
"This product has helped us a lot by improving and growing the business in different domains."
"It helps us with cost optimization and easy implementation."
"The support from the vendor is very good."
"The initial setup was easy and straightforward."
"We can quickly adapt to our end users."
"The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, even surprising us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary."
"AutomationEdge has shown the most productive impact, and the productivity was excellent before, and now it can increase by 20 to 30% more with AI implementation."
"The studio design is fine compared to other similar products. There is nothing extraordinary about it, but at the same time, there are not any negatives."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...I rate the technical support of the solution a nine out of ten."
"The most valuable features are workflow and process automation."
"The product provided all the security controls that we asked them."
"If you don't have a computer science background, you can easily use Tungsten RPA because this is a low-code platform and it is easier than other RPA tools."
"Kofax handles UIs via the browser well. If it's not possible, they have other features like modeling screen scrapes, etc."
"Kofax RPA has provided our organization with a lot of savings in many different areas and we have improvements in data quality."
"The scalability of Kofax is very handy, because with a few clicks you can have your scalable environment up and ready and it is not so complex to configure the entire environment."
"The solution is scalable."
"The tool's most valuable feature is web browser automation, which makes it easy to interact with any website. We can assemble a robot in a few hours with web automation, depending on its complexity."

Cons

"It would be nice to have the IQ Bots integrated with the Enterprise Edition without requiring extra licenses. That would be great."
"I would like more integration into the entire Microsoft Suite of products, not just Excel. Companies use all of Microsoft products at the same time, and being good at just one Microsoft tool is a limiting factor. Being able to use Microsoft Excel, Access, and Outlook together and have them integrated (as standard) into the tool would be very useful, especially when you go into attended automation."
"New versions keep coming up. The challenge for us is to have the downtime to do the migrations. This could be improved upon. We would like fewer version changes and upgrades happening to the application. While the downtime is not that much, depending on the business processes, there are times few critical processes are running on a daily or hourly basis. We would expect the downtime to be even less for them."
"Excel functionalities, the macro interface can be improved in the next release of RPA platform Automation Anywhere."
"While the community provides a platform for interaction and resource sharing, not all training content aligns with the specific needs of developers."
"On the document automation side, the document learning features are not as robust as one would expect them to be. When I am doing document automation and a document fails due to low confidence in populating a field, it requires manual correction."
"The Excel part needs improvement because we use it as a database. Right now, we are using UiPath for this feature, as that RPA tool allows us to sort, search, and filter in Excel databases."
"Although the UI and elements are user-friendly, it is still difficult for business users without experience to understand how to use Automation Anywhere."
"They could provide more technologies for IT and security to enhance machine learning capabilities."
"While I find AutomationEdge generally stable, I believe that stability needs to be improved a little."
"It's not an intuitive tool."
"The ease of use is the main thing on which they really have to focus. If they want to go against the giants, it should be improved in ease of use, and it should be more user-friendly. It would be helpful because everyone should be empowered irrespective of whether they know how to code or not. They should enhance its user interface and make it more intuitive."
"There are some shortcomings in the product's stability that need improvement."
"With other automation solutions in the market, we can simulate the process in our notebooks where the solution creates the code for us, but with AutomationEdge we can't do this."
"In AutomationEdge, I think there could be improvements. The variables sometimes are really confusing when you use them because the aspects around the variables are confusing, particularly the global variables and the local variables."
"The price of the solution could be improved."
"We are on version 10.6, and the current version seems to be 11. Kofax is cycling the capabilities of the product very quickly. One of the difficulties has been to actually keep up with the capabilities as they've evolved. On the one hand, it is good that the product is getting better, but on the other hand, it is difficult to implement the best way with a product that is evolving constantly."
"The solution needs to be scalable."
"We've faced a few challenges with Tungsten RPA. One issue I recall was with sending emails that needed multiple attachments. At the time, the feature only allowed attaching one file at a time. We discussed this with Tungsten RPA, and they planned to add multi-attachment capability to their backlog. I'm not sure if it's been upgraded since then. The solution's desktop automation is tricker."
"The process discovery could be a bit better."
"RPA technology is constantly changing, and sometimes Kofax lags behind."
"Exception handling needs to be improved."
"Other than that, I think that there are other tools on the market which may be better to work with for automation."
"The technical support must be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you are looking into Automation Anywhere, get the Community Edition and play with it."
"The initial setup and licensing fees are high, and although it saves costs in the long run, reaching the break-even point can take at least six months."
"Automation Anywhere's price is considerably better than UiPath's."
"I would rate the price of Automation Anywhere a six out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
"It saves me around $100,000 a year."
"It is affordable for us."
"The cost for scalability is much cheaper than developing a new system."
"Automation Anywhere's pricing is significantly higher than other RPA solutions."
"Price-wise, AutomationEdge is pretty affordable, making it not so expensive when you compare this with other tools in the market."
"Pricing can be made better. Currently, I think the pricing is based on the market. The pricing also depends on the business partners that offer you the solution."
"If you are looking for a budget solution, you can consider AE. It has all the features. Scaling it is way easier because of the cost itself."
"I give the price of the solution a nine out of ten."
"The licensing for this solution should have a more competitive pricing model. The price is in the top five of similar products."
"It is expensive but its value can justify the cost."
"The product is available at the lowest price."
"The cost depends on the number of licenses and the number of RPAs."
"The pricing model for automation solutions like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Microsoft Power Platform is subscription-based, where costs are calculated based on factors such as the number of hours used and the scale of automation required.......With Kofax, you purchase a license upfront, and that's all you need. You can create as many automation workflows as you require without additional costs for individual use cases."
"There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
"Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
"Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
"Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
"Kofax RPA's licensing costs are yearly and expensive."
"Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
