Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

User interface streamlines task automation and improves efficiency
akaBot made a noticeable difference at Wika because it is lightweight and easy to use, and moreover, akaBot has a forum to answer many questions. The ease of use stands out because the design of akaBot is very friendly. The best features that akaBot offers in my experience include the UI automation in the browser or in the Windows application. What I appreciate most about the UI automation in browsers or Windows applications is the auto-generate selector in a browser and Windows application. This feature makes a difference because it reduced most of the time developing the bot.

Sometimes, we encounter system errors that could be resolved via support, but connection issues are more frequent in enterprise applications. However, these can usually be solved by raising tickets if you are part of an enterprise, though we are not, which makes it somewhat challenging. It is vital to ensure the connections of UiPath Platform are maintained because it has a larger community. If UiPath Platform website included more features and documentation accessible easily, it would greatly enhance the experience. Instead of continually needing to raise support tickets, having a documentation hub where details can just be entered to retrieve required documents would be extremely beneficial.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"At run time, Automation Anywhere can let you know which line of code the bot is running and what it is doing. It is very clear."
"The OCR application is excellent and has helped resolve many issues that I had been facing."
"Human errors have been rectified due to bot usage."
"Automation Anywhere has been an integral part of this product's evolution in general. A hindrance that we were faced with was companies who did not have API integrations for Salesforce. This is where RPA and Automation Anywhere came in and helped us with integrating solutions which did not have API integrations within themselves. That's how we've evolved in the past two to three months."
"It is very user-friendly. The AI capability that nowadays I am seeing in Automation Anywhere is very good. They have plug-and-play AI solutions."
"It has helped us a lot with our digitized work, and we have automated a lot of the bank's processes."
"Automation Anywhere is stable, scalable, and easy to use."
"When anybody talks about Robotic Process Automation, Automation Anywhere is the first thing that comes to my mind."
"akaBot made a noticeable difference at Wika because it is lightweight and easy to use, and moreover, akaBot has a forum to answer many questions."
"The cost is affordable, and it fits our requirements."
"The training platform of UiPath is very good; it helps the business user without prior experience in programming to automize the process by themselves."
"The price of investment is high but the benefits are uncountable."
"One of the best benefits is that instead of just doing their single task, it gets people to think beyond what they're doing and how other things impact them."
"Compared to other RPA tools that require knowledge of a programming language, UiPath requires less coding."
"In general, UiPath is the most powerful solution there is on the market right now for RPA, mainly because of the easy structure provided by UiPath Orchestrator for larger transactional business processes."
"We recently had a project that would take a human who's actually navigating through the screens and clicking all the buttons roughly a month's worth of work, if that was their primary focus all day long, and we were able to get that completed within two days using UiPath."
"We use this solution to automate business processes and save millions of dollars in operational efficiency."
"My favorite features of UiPath Platform are Action Center and Document Understanding, as I'm in Action Center all day; the benefits of these features for my organization are significant, especially with tariffs right now, as we're trying to save as much money as we can."

Cons

"We've had some technical difficulties connecting, but that's more on our environment and how we have the machines and everything set up. It's not specific to Automation Anywhere. However, it's pricier than some of the other tools."
"Automation Anywhere is a fantastic platform, but I rate it nine because I see one scope of improvement."
"We've had a lot of issues with the installation and performance on a variety of computers, onshore and offshore. Our network bounds multiple domains, and we've had issues there, as well. So, we are looking forward to the web-based development versions."
"As far as stability is concerned, there have been some challenges."
"I am looking for artificial intelligence and machine learning. I hope that they introduce them in A2019."
"I have experienced the issues of UI getting stuck. There seems to be an issue with server stability. This is something that can be better."
"The Help menu/description can be provided while hovering over actions so that it can help us better to know them."
"More interactions with PDFs would be great for Automation Anywhere."
"I used UiPath before akaBot, and I think UiPath has more features than akaBot."
"If they can provide more intelligent automation, it would be beneficial."
"Most of our automations have been without a user interface and we need the ability to interact with users directly."
"UiPath could be improved by offering overall solutions instead of just having the RPA process."
"Sometimes the technical support team gets repetitive with the questions they ask, and for complex issues, it drags on too long."
"They need to improve features around legacy systems."
"Beyond that, room for improvements is mainly focused on agents."
"They should expand on workflow type items and take another step up from the long-running workflows to offer more visibility of business processes within Orchestrator."
"Sometimes, I notice that UiPath Platform pushes out a product before it's fully ready for mass consumption, one example being the initial launch of UiPath Apps, which had limited capabilities."
"I would like to have cloud in the next release. It's one of those things that allows customers to be able to have an easier access point."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My understanding is that the license cost of Automation Anywhere is more reasonable than UiPath and Blue Prism."
"We have saved a lot of money on taxes based on the stuff that we run."
"It looks like it will be right around $115,000, not counting IQ Bot, which we won't renew until later."
"I find the license pricing to be competitive and reflective of the pricing models throughout the RPA space, and I believe there is a lot of value in continuing to maintain the free community edition platform."
"It's justified because we have saved quite a bit of money at the company and many manual hours. Overall, it justifies the cost."
"It's cheaper than other similar solutions."
"One of the key features that we chose, the bot as a service or the BotFarm, when they launched version 11.3, they decided not to have the BotFarm anymore. This put us in a situation because we expected to have bots on demand, just like our cloud software. This would have been cost efficient for us to use. We hope to see this again being realized with A2019. I hope the scalability from an on demand basis improves."
"Their overall pricing falls in the middle of the market. Cost-wise, Automation Anywhere is quite expensive because of their analytics, IQ Bots, and MetaBots. For a standalone machine, the pricing is okay. When adding in the licensing for IQ Bots (or MetaBots), it can become quite costly."
Information not available
"UiPath is priced high."
"In one case, I had the prices in front of me, and it was not expensive for the service it was providing."
"It is one of those things where you pay for convenience. Pricing-wise, UiPath is definitely way more expensive than other solutions that we have seen, especially since we also have Microsoft Power Automate, which is one of the latest tools. UiPath is on the higher end, but it is one of those decisions, "Is it worth the investment? How much are you getting as an ROI?" That is usually how the conversation goes."
"UiPath is a little more costly than competing solutions such as Automation Anywhere."
"The licensing model could be improved. UiPath charges more if you increase the number of components. It should be included within the premium licensing. We have 100 percent end-to-end automation for some of our processes. However, we're limited by the licensing from fully automating all of them. We can't use all the features."
"It is the most user-friendly RPA platform, but it is also the most expensive RPA platform."
"We are using the Community Edition. The cost is only that of the virtual machines. The pricing of the Enterprise Edition is a bit high."
"The price for the attended bot is between $1,800 and $3,000. The unattended bot was $8,000 last year. Orchestrator is around $20,000."
