Huntress Managed EDR Reviews

We are a managed service provider with a wide range of clients. We support their businesses and computers, and as a standard, we install the software on any of the computers we manage.

Huntress is very easy to use. That is one of the reasons why we switched to Huntress two to three years ago. The console is simpler and quicker than the competitor I was using. There are not many actions to take. It just runs, and if there is something to look at, they send us an email to escalate. It is one of those things where when you install it, you do not have to log in and check unless they alert you.

Once they did an awesome thing where they scanned the computers for any files that said passwords or logins. Sometimes people keep all their logins in one Excel file and call it passwords. It basically scanned the computers and gave us a warning about the computers that had a file called passwords.xls and informed us to let them know to not do that. I reached out and I ended up converting a few of those clients to use password managers and things like that. It was a one-time scan they did, but it was awesome of them to do that.

We were able to see its financial benefit immediately. After a month or two, it started caching things and alerting us. It was pretty quick. Within the first quarter of using it, we were already happy with it. I knew I was going to keep it for a long time.

SMBs do not always have a big budget for IT. Huntress is the best you can get without ramping up your budget. There is another one that we use for the companies that have more budget. It is called BlackPoint, but it is not an apple-to-apple comparison. I cannot compare these two because BlackPoint does a little bit more than what Huntress offers at this time.

The solution is fully managed by Huntress 24/7. That has been great. It has affected us in a positive way where we get an alert, and we know if something was already done by Huntress or if we need to take action. If we need to take action, they list specific instructions on what needs to be done, which is nice. We do not have to figure out how or what. That has definitely helped. We are also able to manage Windows Defender. When we want to put exceptions in and things like that, we do not have to go to each computer. We just put it in the policy, and it alters the settings of Windows Defender.

For remediation, Huntress can automatically remediate low-severity threats. There is one option where they automatically do it, and then depending on the issue, there is also a button that you can click to remediate the issue right from the control panel. That saves so much time investigating. If you need to isolate the computer, you can isolate the computer, so it does not spread out to the rest. It is definitely positive.

Huntress helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts. They basically do it all. The only thing higher is an MDR, but I assume they will eventually get into the MDR space. I know they have recently added something that looks at your Microsoft 365 tenant, similarly to how they look at your computers. I can see the product growing and growing. They keep adding things that their competitors are doing.

It has taken our security up a notch from where we were. It has not missed anything. It was not like something happened where I was like, "Why didn't Huntress see this?" That has not happened in the past two to three years. It has made our security stronger. Because we protect our clients, we need to make sure we are doing that. I am confident in having Huntress out there on the machines.

The Huntress' SOC team is very responsive. Other solutions would never reach out to you or do anything like that. If something is detected, they just send automatic emails to check it out. Anytime I have had a meeting with Huntress about a new product or a new service, there are higher-ups on the call with me. It feels very like a small company even though they are not. You get a small company experience with them where you can get someone on the phone. If you need to talk to someone higher up, they will be on the call. I appreciate that. They are always ready to hop on a call or tell me more. If I need to know more, they will happily talk to me. They always check in on me. My reps often ping me to make sure I do not need anything.

We have combined Huntress with other solutions. The only reason we combine is that the customer has more budget. Huntress is what we give everyone. If they have more budget, we will pair that with BlackPoint, which is an MDR that actively remediates anything that does not look good. They are connected to a  24/ 7 security center with people stopping these attacks live as they happen, and you are watching them as they happen. There is an agent for the computer as well. There are some things that overlap with Huntress on what it does, but the ultimate one is 24/7. They will remediate something at three in the morning and leave you a voicemail explaining what happened, but that solution costs three times what Huntress costs. That is why the customer has the budget, we put both of them.

I use Huntress Managed EDR on all my clients' PCs across our organization and others. Even when clients decline the service, I install it on their machines to enhance overall security, providing it for free to those who cannot afford it. I ensure every device under our management has this protection.

Our Huntress deployment is considered hybrid because it requires an agent on each machine to communicate with the Huntress Security Operations Center and then display the information on a centralized dashboard. This setup allows me to monitor the status of all my machines remotely. 

I immediately recognized the benefits of Huntress Managed EDR. One week after deploying it for my clients, it detected potentially harmful applications on one computer and protected approximately 300 other machines from infection.

Huntress Managed EDR is extremely user-friendly, featuring a simple interface and effortless endpoint installation. The software seamlessly integrates with my RMM, automating installation on new devices.

Huntress has begun offering its services to individuals, indicating expansion beyond the Small and Medium-sized Business market. Its increasing popularity and necessity, even for Managed Service Providers like myself, highlight its value as an essential tool in today's environment.

Huntress's 24/7 monitoring has simplified my workload when triaging managed alerts. Being able to assure my clients that their information is constantly being monitored by a dedicated associate significantly enhances my credibility and provides them with peace of mind.

Huntress's ability to automatically remediate low-level threats proved invaluable when one of our internet-connected computers was infected. By isolating the compromised machine from the network, they effectively prevented the threat from spreading.

Huntress has improved our security significantly by 90 percent. Previously, relying solely on virus protection with its limited DAT file left vulnerabilities, particularly to code-based attacks, potentially exposing my customers to risks.

We use Huntress Managed EDR for threat hunting with our clients to try to keep their environment safe and make sure that if there's any kind of bad activity going on, we can try to find out about it early enough and take proactive steps. 

We know our client's environment really well, and so we want to make sure that we are thinking about all things before remediating. If it is something that's really critical, Huntress will isolate the system so that it can't do any additional damage, but we generally remediate ourselves. 

The ability for their team to remediate is a nice feature.

For us, Huntress Managed EDR has been a game changer for the SMB market. The way they price their solution is friendly to the SMB, and it brings high-powered tools to the SMB space.

It's great to have Huntress Managed EDR alert us if something happens after hours. We have engineers on standby, but we do rely on them to be watching outside of normal business hours.

We rely on it as our Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution. We rely on them to monitor any attacks and vulnerabilities.

Huntress serves as a live Security Operations Center (SOC) for our managed endpoint protection, eliminating the need to manually scan logs and pick up on triggers.

The deployment via our RNN was very easy. Their portal is excellent and very easy. It is easy to look at any alerts they alert us on. They are very thorough and provide step-by-step instructions on how to remediate. Many items have a one-click remediation where we do not even need to do anything. They have good reporting.

It is an excellent solution for the SMB market. Their main goal was always to provide top-notch security for the 99% with a great price point, and they do that very well.

Huntress Managed EDR provides a level of security expertise we cannot offer in-house, all at a competitive price point.

They have got eyes on our security 24/7. We normally work nine hours a day. We have on-call techs, but they are not sitting there just looking at security boards all day. We get alerted when there is an issue. It saves us a lot of time.

We make use of Huntress' ability to automatically remediate low-severity threats, and it works well. It has given us back time. We do not have to check in with those low-level things. We can just trust them to resolve them.

Huntress has helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts. That is huge. As an MSP, you cannot rely on just baseline AV anymore. You need more complex EDR solutions, and it saves us from having to hire in-house and rely solely on one or two people. We have a team of experts.

There has been a good peace of mind for us internally. Thankfully, we have not had any issues where we have had to rely on them internally, but there has been great peace of mind as we see what they have done for our customers.

Our use case for Huntress Managed EDR is not just for detection and response; we run it on all endpoints that we manage, as we are a managed cybersecurity and compliance organization. We push Huntress to absolutely every endpoint that we have and work collaboratively with the Huntress SOC team since we run a 24/7 security operations center ourselves.

We implement a layered defense strategy for all of our clients, with Huntress being a key component of that approach. Their impact on our operations has been positive on several levels. Firstly, Huntress Managed EDR provides assurance of coverage, allowing us to deploy it in environments where not all security tools can be utilized. When we encounter situations where some tools cannot be deployed, we ensure redundancy by using Huntress Managed EDR, as we are confident that it can be effectively implemented. This gives us a level of assurance and confidence in our security coverage that we wouldn't have otherwise.

Furthermore, Huntress Managed EDR offers a personal level of incident response that is uncommon among vendors. They are highly involved and attentive. Although we do run several redundancy measures, meaning we use multiple tools for monitoring and response, the first phone call we receive during an incident is always from Huntress. They reach out directly, involving their team and taking prompt action when necessary, especially if they cannot contact us immediately. This proactive approach has significantly benefited our clients, as the Huntress team has effectively captured and mitigated direct threats quickly.

After deploying Huntress Managed EDR, we typically see improvements in security immediately, as, in many cases, our onboarding deployments turn into incident responses because Huntress Managed EDR detects stagnant threats that need addressing right away.

I am an MSP. I have my clientele and small businesses that I take care of, and I have Huntress in my stack. A big part of the purpose of Huntress Managed EDR is that it lets me sleep at night.

They have security specialists who are more specialized than I am, so I am able to layer them in and ensure that my client's security is well-protected. As an IT person, I am doing everything I can to stay on top of things and make sure that my client's security is good. Huntress provides that assurance. I know that there is a 24/7 team that is able to flag incidents. They monitor it. They flag it. They provide remediation steps. They do that when I am sleeping at three in the morning. I do not have my own hires to do that. They are my peace of mind team.

For me, as a small business, they are easy to work with because they are personal. You have your rep, and you are not too small for them. They are easy to talk to. They are easy to get answers to questions, so they make it easy for me to supply to my clients. On my client side, it is dead simple because I manage it all for them. They do not even know it is there. It is in the background as a 24/7 response team.

Its benefits were pretty immediate. The main reason I implemented it was for peace of mind. That assurance was immediate. In addition, when you put the Huntress agent on your client's endpoints, if there are any escalations or incidents that are high priority, such as crypto or other things on there, they flag that and right away, get to work.

When I first implemented it, I had a very low incident. They informed me that one of my clients has a password.txt on their computer, which they probably should not have. I was able to see that immediately. I was able to go to that client and have that conversation. I had the trust that it works because it flagged something like that. It was also like a proof of concept of all of the security policies that I am implementing.

In terms of its effect on our workload, obviously, if I see something, I can flag it. Other than taking my own steps, I can also flag it to them. A lot of my day-to-day work does not involve an EDR response. It is more about a client not understanding XYZ and me troubleshooting it, so it has not changed anything in that regard.

We use Huntress' EDR tools, security operation center back end, security awareness training, and Microsoft Defender. 

It's a small installation that doesn't require a high-powered desktop, laptop, or server. It can be put on anything, and within a few minutes, they get a notification that the software has been installed on that machine. Huntress will immediately set up what they set up on their back end to watch that 24/7.

The benefits of Huntress are the resources that we have within the team. They're responsive. We have a dedicated customer rep with whom we work. He calls us consistently with new business they have going on within the company. Their communication level is second to none. It's important that they're within the same state, so it's like a local thing for us because we cover the tristate areas.

It has helped us eliminate more expensive security tools and take care of our whole security department. We only need to implement that resource, so we've reduced our security stack. They're in the top 10 percent of their area of expertise, and we've had zero concerns with that.

I use Huntress Managed EDR for my Windows computers. I use a lot of Linux for my personal activities, but I have Windows computers for some people who work with me, and I keep it on those. 

I have combined the use of Huntress Managed EDR with other solutions, such as Flare.io. That's another tool we use in our stack. My stack includes Huntress, Flare, Cynet, and some open-source solutions such as Snort running on my router, Zeek, and Security Onion running on the LAN side, and everything works without conflicts.

I have it for my customers because it has a lot of variety. It's a solid program. It's a solid setup with a nice stack put together. They have a good name, and I've seen a lot of actionable results from what has happened and what's going on with their notifications. It's very good for someone who doesn't have the money of an enterprise but needs the security of an enterprise. You can get 24/7 monitoring. You're not going to get that for the price they offer.

The fact that Huntress Managed EDR is fully managed 24/7 saves me a lot of stress because I don't have to worry about false alerts. If they send me an alert, I better pay attention. If I get a call from Huntress, I need to get on point real quick because there's something going on. That gives me a backup and less stress; it's having someone always watching my back.

Using Huntress Managed EDR definitely makes everything easier. It sometimes makes me wonder if it's too easy and if everything is going alright, but everything's great.

Even if you want your expensive tools, it gives them a backup, providing an added layer of security and in-depth defense, which is what you need. This feature is a top priority for me because it's another layer of security that has my back. I don't have to worry about if something's happening that we don't notice when I take my eyes off the screen for a minute.

Huntress Managed EDR has greatly affected my organization's overall security by providing an extra layer. It has given us more security. I've got my own monitoring going on and things that, and I know that's there, so it's just made me more secure.

I could see the benefits of Huntress Managed EDR when I installed everything. I knew how the benefits would work prior to using the program, but definitely, after installation, it shows you what's there.

Huntress Managed EDR starts to improve an organization's security pretty much instantly. As soon as you've got your agent lined up, you start to see information at that point.
