We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's incredibly easy to use and greatly simplified our ability to both deploy and manage our storage subsystems.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe will quickly overcome all the hurdles you face, including network and latency issues.""The most valuable features of this solution are its ease of use and performance.""The duplication algorithm allows us to get a lot more use out of less storage. We're running a five terabyte array right now and we're running probably about 30 terabytes on it. So the duplication rate is pretty phenomenal, without a cost to performance. It still runs pretty smoothly.""It has good, reliable, fast storage.""Technical support has been helpful and responsive.""The solution is very straightforward to set up."

"Upgrades are super easy and can be done during business hours without interruptions in production.""The cloning is very fast... Another aspect I like is that it's very simple. It's an easy GUI to use.""It is great for finding problems where VMs are hogging all the performance.""The most valuable aspect of the solution was how fast it worked on behalf of VDI desktops.""We also find the detail per-vm reporting at the ability to see reports from the hypervisor straight back to the storage useful.""Performance, cost, and ease of storage management.""Its performance is amazing. Since I have put Tintri in, I haven't had a complaint from anybody about slowness. On top of that, there is block-level cloning and the ability to spin up VMs.""Its speed has been absolutely fantastic."

More Tintri VMstore T7000 Pros →

"It’s simple to use hardware to fix performance issues. Our issue is poor coding/queries. This greatly speeded things up. It’s too costly to track down poor programming in applications. The price of a developer’s time to scan through all the coding is high compared to buying Violin.""VIOLIN QV2020 is the latest in terms of performance. It has high-speed data access and processing capabilities, distinguishing it as a leader in its storage solutions category."

Cons
"There is room for improvement in catering to midrange storage needs, especially for customers seeking Enterprise-class features.""We need better data deduplication.""I want to see Pure Storage not only be for fast storage, but I want to see it be for the entire data center.""The tool's pricing is higher than competitors.""Many options to check performance, like read, writes, random writes, and random reads, are missing in Pure FlashArray X NVMe.""The tool's portfolio is minimal. It is expensive.""We have run into a couple of instances recently where we are running out of space. So we have had to buy some more packs for it and they have deployed fine and it has increased smoothly.""I'd like to see the product implement active replication for vehicles such as VMware."

"I would like to be able to add more storage capacity to our 2 units down the road with out buying an additional seprate array.""The product could be improved by adding iSCSI support. We have had to rethink how we implement some of our services due to this.""Tintri need to be able to innovate faster but maintain the quality of their features.""In sync and automated mirror between two Tintris is missing.""Detailed reporting is missing in the current version. We would like to see this feature added in a new release.""On the software side, I suggest adding integration with backups software like CommVault Simpana or Veeam where these products can integrate with the array and trigger things like snapshots for backup, etc.""We need more options to integrate with cloud storage options other than the current AWS and IBM that it currently supports.""Speed of our VDI machines. We have a very high log in and log out ratio and machines are being refreshed instantly so we have a constant boot storm on our storage."

More Tintri VMstore T7000 Cons →

"I set up Wi-Fi for storage, and since then, we haven't experienced any interruptions in service.""VIMM replacement is poorly designed. You have to slide out an entire drawer, remove the cover and then pop out the failed VIMM. I would like to see a front replacement just like with hard disks. This leaves room for error; for example, when you slide it out from the rack, you are moving cables along the cable management arm. This leaves the possibility of accidentally unplugging a cable from the array if it is not seated properly. Also, you might pinch the cables when sliding it back into the server rack."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "With any SAN purchase, the sizing procedure is the most important step."
  • "The price is the price and is reasonable for the class of storage."
  • "Tintri arrays are cheaper then other vendors while still providing an excellent level of performance."
  • "Performance for the price is amazing."
  • "The cost of all the SW is well spent because it makes you save on backup and DR."
  • "Always could be cheaper."
  • "I think it is a very good solution. You get a good bang for buck."
  • "Prices are not cheap, but it runs."
