Automation has reduced manual reporting tasks and improved delivery speed
Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation has an opportunity to be improved in many ways, especially with AI. I see some improvements there and it can definitely be enhanced. Maybe even leveraging the cloud product rather than having Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation running on your local network would help. Because now you need to connect through a VPN. I understand because organizations don't want to share their data. However, using it as a subscription service can help to connect from anywhere. But then you just need to make sure that the data also complies with the POPI Act and all of those other acts for protecting the data.

Significantly reduces manual effort and improves team workflows through automated ticketing
We've used Agent Builder, IXP, and Maestro for orchestration. We have created context-grounded searches or chatbots using context grounding, and we also use context grounding within an Agentic flow where a bot or agent reads ServiceNow tickets to determine whether it has been assigned to the right work group. If it has not been assigned correctly due to human error, it automatically reassigns it to the right group. I would assess Agentic AI's ability to extract data points as effective. We created an agent for the purpose of extracting data, though not in a document. We created what we call an email conversation agent that engages with a customer, vendor, or someone in an email conversation with a set goal of extracting specific data points for an action to be performed subsequently. The one automation we have deployed in production involves the agent interacting with team members to collect data points and create a ServiceNow ticket. We appreciate almost all features of UiPath Platform, with one of the most successful ones being the use of Coms Mining. Most of the new features related to AI have all been good, and we use Agentic. We have already created a few agents and have started to use Maestro for a few flows, though we are not yet there to orchestrate an end-to-end workflow. We have good ROI from the automations we have developed with UiPath Platform, which far exceeds the investment in the platform. It has saved us tens of thousands of hours in manual effort, making the team members happy to pursue other things of value.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The automation features of Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation have assisted us to deliver quickly, especially if you have captured everything on ARIS, then you just need to run a report, and some of the elements are automated."
"The solution is user-friendly and has great training materials available."
"I like the structure of the selectors. They're robust. With other software like Automation Anywhere, we always have problems with recorders, plugins, et cetera. UiPath is more powerful and efficient. UiPath Studio has features like the Excel package, selectors, and recorders."
"The most valuable features of UiPath are the drag and drop activities."
"It has reduced human error because there would be some different document types. It's able to detect multiple types versus a user finding one document type when there could be multiple document types that are associated with a letter, while the user is browsing over it that can be missed in the second document type. But when you're looking at machine learning and at the text, it'll be able to easily pick out those keywords from a document that has multiple document types."
"The initial implementation was pretty straightforward."
"The most valuable feature of UiPath is its usability. It's very easy to understand."
"It's incredibly user-friendly, making it accessible even to non-developers."
"The most valuable features of UiPath are test automation, test suite, test manager, and document understanding."

Cons

"Software AG ARIS Robotic Process Automation has an opportunity to be improved in many ways, especially with AI."
"I have a few ideas on how UiPath Platform can be improved, however, they have fleeted from my mind."
"I have had issues with the selectors. I face problems during image capture, and I need to update them. It is not something that I can rely on."
"UiPath is very stable. I have not had any issues in terms of that. The only issue we used to have was if a website were to change or an application were to change, but we have found ways to work around that and deal with those types of situations."
"Making things more user-friendly, particularly for end-users, allowing those people to get involved in the process, would be wonderful, as I saw with Maestro."
"I could use more standardized features, retail-style, things that I could use off-the-shelf. Right now, all this requires quite a bit of adaptation in bespoke work with UiPath, which they've done very well. But looking at it after having used it, I would get stuff that is prepackaged from them, if they were any."
"Insights is a little clumsy. StudioX is a great start but needs more functionality. They should bring the document understanding into StudioX and make it go a little bit further. There's a pretty clear point at which you really need to switch over to Studio, but in the case of some of our citizen developers, they'd like to stay in StudioX. They just need more features."
"We have not seen it do OCR, and that would be helpful. Right now, the tool will not read a PDF file, and we can't use PDF files. We want it to able to take an image, then take that image and put the particular field out in the right spot in a table. We have not seen it where you can scan a document in, then it reads fields and places those in a table."
"The stability is not that good yet for whatever reasons. We have a lot of safety critical things that have to be 99.999% availability, so we're struggling a little bit."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Given how cheap it is to initially buy the product, the licensing methodology that they have in terms of renewing every year is appropriate. Later on, if they start charging more early on, for deployment, buying the license, and deploying it initially, then having a lower maintenance fee might be more appropriate. Now, with the scale they are at, it is an appropriate way to do the licensing."
"The downside of UiPath is always the price because it's the most expensive platform. However, it is the fastest and most reliable."
"...it's a bit pricey."
"The main reason we went ahead with UiPath was the pricing... the pricing of the paid version was not that high. It's low- to mid-level pricing."
"Right now we only have a couple of Studio licenses and a couple of bots, so we're at about $8,000 USD per year."
"UiPath is expensive compared to the competition."
"Some of the licenses, such as for Document Understanding, are a little bit expensive. We hope that they will reduce the prices over time, but it's still something new. I understand that it cannot be given away too cheaply in the beginning."
"UiPath is not cheap."
