Cost-effectiveness and pricing consistency support diverse high-intensity applications
The services of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) are quite competent when compared to AWS Cloud, and they are also lower in cost. We use compute, storage, and network services. A notable feature is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's consistent global pricing, which is advantageous. Furthermore, applications using Oracle Database not only work seamlessly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) but also benefit from a 25% offset on Oracle Database licenses.

The challenge I encountered while using the VMware Harbor Registry is that sometimes the default credentials get overwritten, so we have to restart Harbor to make it function as before. The default credential rewrite is one of the major pains with Harbor, so this has to be improved. They can expand more into the known issue section and support for the older versions. We did check the documentation as well as some of the issues mentioned in GitHub, but they weren't that useful.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main benefit is that you're getting all of the resources you require on a subscription base. So, you get to pay as you go instead of having to have a CAPEX, you convert your CAPEX to OPEX to cover the data center cost."
"The simple infrastructure of the service is very useful."
"When compared with other products, this product is very good because it's easy to move from primary to secondary sites. With other products, you need to build everything from the base. With Oracle Data Cloud, you can move from the primary to the secondary and return back to the primary by a very simple command, and you never lose data."
"This is a highly available and scalable solution that can host both modern and legacy on-premises applications."
"The most valuable feature is the monitoring."
"The feature I think should be improved is the option to rename the machines."
"Overall, I would rate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as nine out of 10."
"Overall, there are some very good features on Oracle and it offers good customization capabilities."
"The most valuable features of VMware Harbor Registry are that it's lightweight and the in-built Trivy solution, which I find valuable mainly for the vulnerability scanning that it publishes."
"It is very convenient to automate consistently deploying it to a Kubernetes environment to see how it performs."

Cons

"They could improve their global presence and marketing strategy to compete effectively with the likes of AWS."
"It takes more time to release resources than one of its competitors."
"The pricing is a bit expensive."
"The tool should provide more options like other cloud services. Also, it should improve scalability with the free version."
"The product features related to the manufacturing domain must be improved."
"The portfolio should improve for the Oracle Cloud Platform. Oracle has to increase the services offered. New services should be added to be able to compete better with Amazon AWS which is the best, and the biggest service. Oracle Cloud Platform has a small portfolio, but it's a good one."
"Oracle Cloud could improve AI. The design elements could be done better."
"The solution needs to improve the discovery and assessment of the existing infrastructure."
"The image scanning in VMware Harbor Registry is quite limited compared to other specialized image scanning tools."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Costing depends on if you have an existing license for the application and for the operating system."
"There is an annual and a subscription option."
"In Oracle Cloud Platform, one needs to make payments towards the subscription charges."
"I rate Oracle Cloud three to four out of ten on a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The subscription cost is too high."
"It's less expensive to operate your environment in the cloud than in-house. It's a bundle cost. Everything is included in one price."
"Improvements can be made with respect to flexibility in the licensing model."
"I compared Oracle Cloud Platform with other competitor providers like Azure, and I don't think Oracle is too expensive."
