Centralized password vault has transformed access control and dramatically improved security
LastPass Business is a seamless password management tool. Now we use it across the company and it helps streamline the storage and retrieval of the myriad of passwords that we all encounter on the web these days, making it easy to share across accounts and help individuals get access to the passwords they need to do their jobs quickly and easily. It is a better alternative than having to remember passwords or write them down on Post-it notes, especially as most of our staff has transitioned to remote work. It solves most of our information technology and cybersecurity issues. LastPass Business does a good job of organizing passwords and making it easy to share some and not others. I have a personal and a company LastPass Business account, and it is seamless to shift between them. The website autofill integration is great and makes logging into sites a breeze. Autofill helps us log in seamlessly to various apps where we do not have to remember the password; it automatically autofills the password and we are able to log in, saving a lot of time. LastPass Business has a good structure to manage different departments' passwords and suggests strong passwords when setting up new accounts. It allows users to not have to remember the password since it is saved securely. It has a Vault that saves and stores organization-wide credentials. I love that because it is very secure and saves time from having to ask a coworker for their logging information. We are able to share that information and remotely collaborate easily. It has increased our security by 40 to 55 percent because LastPass Business has a Vault that saves and stores organization-wide credentials where it is very secure and easy to access. It saves time from having to ask a coworker for their logging information, takes the stress out of worrying about internet security and related threats, and helps make the onboarding and offboarding process easier for the HR and OPS teams with little concern for employees changing logins and little to no worry about data breaches and other security issues. Since we deployed it, we do not have to waste time logging into multiple apps in my organization. It makes it very easy for new hires to be able to log in to multiple apps within LastPass Business, saving a lot of time. LastPass Business is deployed in my organization as a Hybrid Cloud.

Improved user experience with seamless integration and easy installation
The feature that I mostly valued is the ease of installation on different systems, especially on Windows. Additionally, it is very beneficial for deploying single sign-on sessions between different windows on a web browser, provided I am connected to the right identity provider. That seamless integration significantly improves user experience and efficiency.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It increased security around password management for teams and collaborative efforts with external vendors."
"This product helps keep us secure."
"LastPass Business has positively impacted my organization by being an ideal tool for our company, giving us peace of mind with secure, easy-to-use password management for all our staff, significantly reducing security breaches and saving time by cutting password resets by forty-five to fifty percent."
"LastPass Business has positively impacted my organization because my whole organization has been using this tool for business, and now all employees are able to monitor password strength, usage, and even access to different accounts."
"It's improved security; we don't have to worry about people storing password loosely and secure them."
"Scalability is fine, no issues with that, especially now that they have added different user-level permissions. That has made it a lot easier to delegate out certain features to have other people do."
"The most valuable feature is the liberty of keeping encrypted passwords and elevated information in a sealed vault."
"Off-boarding of people is easy without changing shared account passwords."
"We're able to have one single centralized way of logging in when you have shared sessions across all applications."
"It’s a secure product; we can make use of two factor authentication with the product and so from a security perspective, it gives us strong authentication."
"It's agent-based. It's convenient to deploy and integrate."
"This is one of the robust and stable product I have seen in my sixteen years of IT experience."
"It is pretty easy to learn."
"It has improved our user experience quite a bit because they can log in once and go to any application they want, as long as it is integrated with SiteMinder, which was not the case before."
"It is a pretty complete product."
"It's more efficient; we're providing immense security to the applications, to Chase, and we're securing 70 million customers in Chase."

Cons

"I believe some of the integration of the product is less than fully successful; it is less an issue with the software and more of an operating system issue."
"The management through the plugin is poor. It consumes tons of client resources especially as an administrator."
"But being the most expensive on the market definitely does not make it the best of the best, or the prime."
"I also don't like the add-in for Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, because when you do the add-in, you can actually save that to your credentials in your IE, and the problem is, if I left my screen open, or any of the IT people leave their screen open someone could come up and access all their credentials in LastPass without having to put a password in within your own network. I don't like that functionality. We've banned that from any of our staff adding that as an add-in because we see that as a security risk."
"The current version has problems when it comes to their "security challenge", which is a feature that automatically changes unsafe passwords for you."
"Some of the areas that need improvement for LastPass Business include that the user interface could use a refresh, which would be great."
"LastPass Business could be improved by allowing the choice of a default browser on mobile instead of the LastPass browser."
"Our biggest issue over the years was around the stability of the LDAP sync to AD."
"It’s really difficult to initially configure, but once you know where the traps are, it’s not a big deal."
"The technical support could be better."
"We are finding some compatibility issues. We're still working with CA on them."
"I think that one drawback to this product is that it's too big."
"The main thing is we do not have the traceability and good monitoring that CA can provide us to capture problems when they occur."
"Once you get past the first level, it’s good support. Typically once you’ve supported the CA product for a couple of years, you probably know more than first-level support, so it’s frustrating to explain to them the issue."
"The GUIs are not very clear, especially when integrating with other products from CA."
"I would give the technical support a rating of 2-3/10."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You do not have to purchase licenses for your entire organization. You can scale as adoption grows."
"I have been involved with many password managers. Passportal, Secret Server, CyberArk, and BeyondTrust. I chose LastPass for our organization because of the pricing. The organization didn't want to implement something really expensive. LastPass, for what it's offering, for the price that it's offering the service, is unbeatable."
"If you import from sources like XML, keepass, CSV files be sure to clean the import files, this reduces the adjustments in the slow tool itself."
"I was not terribly alarmed with the pricing, and am pleased with the fact that a home license is included with each business license."
"The subscription model is rated at a fair price."
"The pricing and licensing are okay. Basically, at the last contract negotiation, they attempted to jack the rate up and we just said, "No." We still did negotiations with them, but they bumped everything up quite a bit."
"In terms of pricing, my feeling is that they are all roughly the same. LastPass is in line with its competitors, plus or minute a dollar or two per month."
"The previous pricing was of good value. I don't really know, as of now, whether the new pricing is. The Enterprise license is $48 per license per year now. That is a steep increase of $24, which is what it was when we first signed up."
"The licensing is fair for this solution."
"Symantec Siteminder is expensive; they could definitely do better on the price."
"The solution's pricing is competitive."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I recommend conducting a PoC on every available product before choose one."
"Siteminder is a little costly. You pay for licensing, and they offer packages, so if you have less users, then you have to buy different products at different prices. If you have more of a user base, then the package is different. They also include other features—for example, if you have a database and you're using Siteminder, then it's good to use a Semantic-specific database, but if you are using less, then you have to purchase the database separately. Whereas if you are going for a bigger license, then it comes within the package. It depends on which plan you are using."
"The price is quite comparable to the other enterprise-level solutions in that market."
"CA solutions are generally expensive but for the customer the ROI is big."
