Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

A cost-effective solution for endpoint protection and EDR
The Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform is designed to detect various attacks, such as Mitraframe, and provide alerts for each attack technique and procedure. It also offers alerts for potential threats and conducts thorough analyses through its sandbox environment, which isolates and executes malware or unknown files within virtual machines. This allows for real-time threat detection and feedback on potential threats. The platform is a SOC tool and thus requires skilled resources for effective operation, as it involves both automation and manual understanding of attack scales. Third-party intelligence integration enriches the alert system but may lead to occasional false positives, which can be fine-tuned through exclusion options and custom rule creation. The platform offers extensive customization options, allowing users to create rules specific to file detection or PowerShell activities. It provides visibility into telemetry data, enabling comprehensive monitoring of environmental activities. Integration with frameworks like Mitraframe helps tailor policies and rules to suit specific environments. The platform competes with products like FireEye, Snowflake, and Trend Micro. Integration between Kaspersky and other products is seamless, allowing unified threat detection. It is a solid choice for enterprises seeking advanced threat detection capabilities in the Middle East. Overall, I rate the solution eight out of ten.

"The Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform provides visibility into telemetry data, enabling comprehensive monitoring of environmental activities."

"The product's deployment phase is easy."
"I feel the anti-ransomware update is one of the tool's valuable features."
"There are multiple tools for information security. The solution includes all the latest advances on the network and host intrusion detection systems."
"With AlienVault we are able to respond to incidents and take necessary action faster than we could before without the solution in place."
"Phishing sites were detected and it secured the environment from the upcoming threat."
"ATT AlienVault USM support is very good, they respond quickly to our needs."
"The feature that I liked the most is that they have a vulnerability assessment package that comes along with the SIEM solution. So, whenever I find any threat or alert for any of the devices or servers, I could immediately initiate a vulnerability assessment scan on that machine. That is one of a kind. The price at which AlienVault operates is also valuable."
"The most useful feature is the customization for alarms, alerts, and reports."
"This solution can identify many threats inside the organization (compromised endpoints, configuration issues), as well as "outside" threats (botnets, network scanners, web-attacks, etc)."
"Once we placed AlienVault in the product we have now, the time it takes to find and respond to real anomalies has dropped from hours to minutes, it has so much potential to be an amazing product despite its many issues."

Cons

"Managing the product should be easier."
"It's very time-consuming to log support issues and the people that answer the tickets aren't very knowledgeable."
"It takes time to scan the servers and devices."
"It would be good to have a better way to search for a file within the UI."
"I would like to see them include NDR (Network Detection Response)."
"The encryption is not up to the mark."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks can improve mobile integration to allow access to the console."
"We have found that there are times Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks does not detect some of the viruses, we have to use another protection solution called Kaspersky."
"The blind spot or gap in the platform is network analysis functionality."
"I think the tool is still not really good enough for integration compared to other products."
"In some of the places I have come across, even though they use Kaspersky, the ransomware enters their system."
"Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform is not a good product. We had problems with endpoints and the solution did not detect it. We didn't get any alerts about the attack."
"The solution lacks cloud integrations."
"The backup and recovery features of the product are not good."
"The solution lacks cloud integrations."
"I had some initial issues with some of the upgrades in version, but with the help of their support team, we were able to resolve all of them."
"This solution could be easier to use."
"I want to see more compliance management capability. The quality of integrations seems to be a little bit low."
"Source material on the forums to be more up-to-date with the changes happening within the product."
"The way it identifies systems can use some improvement. It has a hard time differentiating between versions of Windows."
"The AT&T AlienVault USM is okay, but the relational database is not very good for large amounts of data. For example, many logs cannot be processed. It has been very slow for the queries and some data which are large, it is not very good in this case."
"Although they use machine learning, the algorithms that they use are graph-based."
"The reporting could do with some improvements for example the vulnerability report only tells you what vulnerabilities are open and lists them but there is no indication of how old they are at a glance and what vulnerabilities have been closed since the previous scans."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is "expensive" and flexible."
"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"In terms of the cost Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is very expensive because we are a Mexican company and when you translate dollars to pesos the cost is very high. The solution is very expensive for Mexican companies. I understand that they have international prices, but I do not think it offsets the price enough for many companies in countries, such as Mexico. The amount it is reduced is not a massive percentage."
"The pricing is okay, although direct support can be expensive."
"It has a yearly renewal."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"I feel it is fairly priced."
"Kaspersky is one of the cheaper solutions."
"Kaspersky Anti-Targeted Attack Platform is cheap."
"The solution has competitive pricing."
"The price for this solution is very good, but since the features do not work the price is expensive."
"AT&T AlienVault USM is an expensive solution and we pay for the license and the support separately. We paid for the license and support for three years."
"We pay around $12,000 a year including storage."
"The price of this solution is reasonable, which is one of the reasons why we selected it over other solutions."
"QRadar, ArcSight and Splunk are some of the most expensive SIEM products out there in the market and not everyone has the budget to buy them. In such cases, AV USM is a very cost effective alternative."
"It is a product that is priced in a medium range, making it neither a cheap nor a costly product."
"So far, I feel the product's pricing is a good value. The technology is decent. You get what you pay for. I think it's fair."
"It is affordable, and it also has many features that the premium products such as ArcSight and QRadar have. It is a very good platform for a SIEM solution. Everything is included in the price."
