A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Robust security measures and cost-effectiveness meet diverse industry needs
The biggest benefit of Juniper SRX Series Firewall overall is that it is rugged and cost-effective, offering basic firewall features and additional licensed features as needed. The main challenge I see as a distributor is Juniper's rating in the Gartner report, where Juniper is not a leader in enterprise security, which often influences customer conversations. Most customers want to check the Gartner report before they engage, making it challenging to sell Juniper security. With my extensive experience with the Juniper SRX Series Firewall, the robustness of the SD-Cloud or Security Director interface and overall functionality needs to be improved to compete with leading firewall solutions.

Discontinuation of Hardware and limited firewalling capabilities
Overall, I would rate the solution a four out of ten. For UTM, I will not suggest Seqrite. But for EPS and antivirus, it is good. Cost-wise also and some features. The features wise also, it is good. And support is also good. We can get support on WhatsApp. So support-wise, it is also good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Fortinet FortiGate has positively impacted my client's organization because we have know-how of FortiGate; we could debug problems, we could set up our settings as planned, and I appreciate the easy way of configuration, that we can use parallel GUI and CLI, or CLI and web interface, which we can use in parallel."
"We have received a very good ROI; it has provided significant time savings of almost 20-25%."
"The firewall is stable and that's important."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the analytics."
"Fortinet FortiGate is a simple solution, and the integration with other solutions in the Fortinet portfolio, such as the Security Fabric integration, is competitive."
"The initial setup of Fortinet FortiGate was straightforward."
"FortiGate is a rapidly growing vendor with a wide range of ready-to-use products. Their delivery time is remarkably quick, usually between two to four weeks."
"Fortinet FortiGate offer a good value for money solution"
"Juniper is a highly flexible platform, and you get more bang for your buck compared to a Cisco product."
"Overall, in terms of uptime, they are very stable and reliable, which has benefited our organization."
"The most valuable feature is robustness."
"The GUI is simple to use."
"It's fine, and it's good. It's very stable."
"I have used technical support quite a bit, and they are really good."
"The command line in Juniper SRX is extremely powerful, in my opinion. It's one of the best command lines I've used in networking products."
"The main features are safeguarding their data and ensuring robust security services for organizational data."
"It has an MDM solution."

Cons

"We would like to see better pricing."
"One issue is that they have retired SSL VPN for existing devices. This causes significant effort for us to change customer setups."
"The inability to scale the FortiAnalyzer to match our growth necessitates the purchase of new hardware."
"I have contacted the support from Fortinet FortiGate IPS. The service was good but the speed could be better."
"One issue that I have had is that sometimes I need to monitor the traffic, so I need to filter it according to the user and which user is using it the most."
"We would like to see a better training platform implemented."
"In an incident, after a restart, Fortinet FortiGate did not connect to FortiGuard servers. Due to that reason, on the customer end, all websites got blocked."
"Fortinet needs more memory to save the log files. We need it to save the logs on the hardware and not in the cloud. I know this feature is available in FortiCloud, but if we need this log locally, it is not available."
"I would like to have a better web UI for administration. Juniper could simplify the web UI and make it more compatible with mobile devices."
"There is room for improvement in customer service and support."
"The CLI is verbose. You have to say a lot to do a little. I don't like that part of it. Cisco's command syntax seems to be a good bit more concise. When you're trying to get something done, you don't want to have to type a bunch."
"As a UTM, Juniper is 5/10."
"When I was going to upgrade the OS, the solution didn't accept certain USB devices."
"In terms of other features, I'd like to see a web filter, 10 point control, application control and a DNA filter in the next release."
"The solution is quite advanced. You need a lot of training to use it effectively."
"There is room for improvement in scalability and performance. It's scalable and reliable, but when using next-generation firewall features, the performance decreases significantly for Juniper SRX."
"This solution is not accurate. Sometimes, the switches got hung. So sometimes, whatever policies we have deployed were not working properly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Fortinet has more device options that are affordable for small businesses than Palo Alto, and its enterprise-level models are also cheaper. Palo Alto also has a separate license for VPN connections and SD-WAN, but FortiGate offers these features standard."
"I rate the product's pricing a seven out of ten. The additional cost depends on the extra feature requirements."
"The price range is quite acceptable and normal."
"It is cost-effective, and provides a good value for your money. The pricing, and license renewal, is very reasonable for us."
"Our licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
"Its price could be better."
"We find the most valuable aspect of this solution is the price. It is affordable, and cheaper than other firewalls."
"The price could improve, it is a bit expensive."
"The prices are very good as compared to other vendors."
"I would say about $20,000 for a SRX650 with IDP licence."
"Compared to other vendors, the pricing of this solution is good."
"For a medium-sized organization, the cost for the licensing and implementation of Juniper SRX for 10 users would be about $300-400."
"In terms of pricing, Juniper is in the middle. The most expensive firewall is Palo Alto. If a customer wants the cheapest price they should go for FortiGate. Juniper is in between these products."
"There is value for money. It offers a good solution at a good price. The price is normal for such a product."
"The price is reasonable"
