The solution provides dynamic reports while being easy to use
There is not much training for Jedox. There was no training available in the beginning at all. I had to reach out to them so they would give us something. I think they're getting better, though. The other issue is the dependence on the partner network. We used to deal directly with Jedox, but now it is all through partners, and Jedox's representatives are not in the picture anymore. It's not that partners are not doing a good job, but you're not dealing with the company directly since it's a partner most of the time. If you build your know-how within the company, it's good. Otherwise, the dependence on partners could end up being more costly. Suppose you do your development or don't need to develop constantly by starting with a sprint, deciding what you want to do, and setting up the cubes, databases, and everything correctly. In that case, you only need to develop different reports using the same data. However, it could be costly if you constantly need to develop reports or different cubes and store different systems without the in-house know-how.

Has cross-functional connectivity but improvement is needed in script encoding
The tool's deployment is quick. Once the program is set up, you're ready to collect data and connect it to your report. The deployment team's size depends on the size of the company and how many different data providers you're utilizing. Some companies have one person doing everything, while others have a huge team. We're on the latter end of it, with many people involved. One great thing about the platform is that everything is consolidated in one place, providing a single resource for everyone. This is a benefit. The maintenance of the solution depends on the experience of the person managing the company's program. The company might have a contractor handling the back end and software management if they're low-level and only analyzing the data. However, if you have someone experienced with software and script encoding, that person might be the analyst and managing the program. Generally, most people are just analysts and not managing the software. There's an opportunity for improvement in user management of their software, and I hope they address this gap before the year ends.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The EPM is the most valuable feature."
"The Excel interface is designed to retrieve data from the database and send it back, which is a significant advantage."
"We can configure and have complete freedom while creating solutions."
"The solution is quick with analysis and calculation. The tool offers high digitalization which helps us to run the controlling department with less number of people. If the software wasn't there, I would need two to three people extra to run the department."
"The solution is very versatile."
"The ETL function simplifies many tasks."
"We use the tool for performance management and planning."
"The ETL itself was pretty useful and it's integrated in the tenant itself. So the Olap service technology was impressive to me. In order to extract that and load it in the tube in the same tenant or the same tool that was something magnificent because I actually missed this in SEB. SEB requires another tool, and you have to integrate all the tools together. But for Jedox, it was in the one tool."
"Workiva Wdesk is pretty good in terms of getting the data from the system, automating the reporting schedules...It has a very good integration with ERP tools."
"Workiva Wdesk has a flow diagram that is standardized, making it easy for people to file documents on ECDAs, which are in HTML format."
"It makes the compliance process more efficient and more effective."
"The cross-functionality between connectivity, whether through API connections between different software platforms or the connection of data collection to the actual written ESG report, is highly valuable. The connectivity of all these aspects significantly aids in data assurance, which I consider a bonus."
"The collaboration within the platform is valuable."
"It helps you to maintain a backup of your data, including the connectivity with the tables, which provides a user-friendly way to handle and access your files."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to easily upload and update financial results, creating a dynamic data sheet."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in the scalability. It is a very massive tool. It's not easy to just build everything yourself."
"Visualization is something they need to improve. We have already told them about this, and they should be working on it."
"The solution should enable a modern look and feel in the front end."
"The solution needs to improve its support. The visualization in Microsoft BI is more modern and comfortable than Jedox's. I would expect something similar with the solution."
"Being an analytical solution, it should have more visualization options like graphs. When we are putting it, it should have more options. The UI can be made more modernized based on today's market. Sometimes, when we are doing heavy reports or dashboarding, there is a bit of a performance issue because it is pulling up a huge amount of data. That can be improvised by buffer memory and getting some buffer memory feature into it. It is a bit complex because it is a CPM solution. It helps you to get the information based on the different tools that we are using, which is a bit of a complex thing. It is not as easy as Microsoft Power BI. It is also not that easy as an implementation piece. It takes time to convert the business requirement into the proper solutions in the tool, which is time-consuming. It took about eight months to do the complete implementation. We got some training from the partner and the Jedox team, which helped us later on in pulling things forward, but too much learning is required, and too many possibilities are there."
"The tool has changed its pricing and it's now too expensive for small and medium organizations. I miss the open-source version which was free and we could do a lot of things with it."
"There is not much training for Jedox."
"I think it's the design of the report because the design and the UI for the report is standard and lame. When you see a Jedox report, it doesn't seem like it's from today, because the technology is something from the last decade. The scalability needs improvement."
"With this product, it's more about the integrated data model where you can have a one-to-many/many-to-one relationship between your policies and processes, risks, and controls. They need to showcase how you can put those pieces together."
"At this point, I don't see a compelling reason to invest in Workiva. It may be necessary for compliance and controlling the version of SCC, but not everyone needs its high-end capabilities."
"The tool's script encoding needs to be updated to make it more user-friendly and less of a manual process when changes are made to a company's program. Those changes happen frequently due to mandatory or voluntary reporting requirements, leading to lost linkage connections that must be manually reset each time a change is made. This aspect is not functional now, and I see it as an opportunity for improvement."
"The most critical issue is the need to shift between uppercase and lowercase."
"Regarding the solution, reporting has certain areas that can be considered for improvement."
"The speed must be improved."
"One area where Workiva Wdesk could improve is by ensuring that its cloud-based system is fully compatible with the most current versions of PowerPoint and Excel."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product’s pricing will not be suitable for setting up a small solution."
"We paid a one-time fee, which included product purchase, licensing, and first-time implementation. We are paying for the maintenance regularly."
"If you are using SAP, then you will have to take an SAP Connector license. The license across the tool is paying for the people who are using it as an admin or as a normal user. They can work out those costs in a manner that can help. This can also be a point of improvement where they can work out the costing, and the developers have a specific licensing cost. The normal users, who are going to do probably data entry or just going to view the dashboard, can have a separate license cost."
"Excellent value for money."
"Jedox was a bit cheaper compared to Calumo."
"The solution's pricing is specific to your requirements."
"Our clients in Asia think that the solution is too expensive."
