Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Effectively handles parallel instances effectively
I find it quite straightforward, perhaps around 8.5 out of 10 in terms of ease. When we upgraded from the old version of IBM BPM to the new one within IBM Cloud Pak for Automation, we didn't encounter any major issues. There were some minor ones, but they were easy to overcome. The migration process was part of our deployment strategy. We had a plan to migrate two processes per week from on-premises to the cloud. The migration involved taking the instances and migrating them to the new environment. There is an inbuilt feature in IBM Cloud Pak for Automation that facilitates the migration process, although I personally haven't conducted it myself; it's managed by my team. Overall, the setup process was relatively smooth.

Automation has transformed banking workflows and drives custom process optimization
Based on my six years of experience, I see that Studio Creatio is continuously improving its workflows, materials, and capabilities. I still see potential improvements in certain areas. For example, some capabilities that the system does not have need to be identified so that customers are aware of what is not possible. The system should be designed to allow customers to connect with any system seamlessly rather than just through marketplace applications. It should have the capability to connect with any other system without limitation, as in some projects, while it was able to connect with 100 other systems, there were one, two, or a few that were not compatible. Regarding needed improvements, with respect to use cases and documentation, more comprehensive use cases and in-depth scenarios covering real business situations and solutions are definitely needed. Mobile users are quite frustrated, so the system needs more modern features, modern user interfaces, and an independent development module for the mobile app. The current mobile app is outdated, and I cannot customize it accordingly. Something new in this area is necessary.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's really easy to use. We have a number of people at our firm who are now certified RPA developers that had no development background. They did that just by the online training in some cases. In some cases, it was the online training, as well as a three day class that we brought in-house and had taught."
"This solution has helped us in several ways, the first of which is scheduling processes."
"Automation Anywhere is very simple to use; the features are very simple, the application is light, and overall I love it."
"The integrations of Automation Anywhere with the mainframe application for banking companies are among the most valuable features... we were able to create very good solutions integrated with that kind of platform using Automation Anywhere."
"We have used document processing from the beginning. We have a few use cases running in production, processing thousands of documents. With the success rate of more than 80%, it's efficiently extracting data for us."
"Several manual, repetitive, time-consuming processes were automated, giving back time to the process owner, and for most of them the process now follows a single standard with additional controls created."
"Our primary use has been to automate a few mundane tasks in the organization, which really helped us in this COVID situation, easing everyone's tasks, ensuring they were completed on time and without errors, keeping our customers happy, and enabling our vendors to help us meet customer satisfaction without compromising on anything."
"Overall, we've saved a lot of time, as there's a recent process that we automated which saves around 200 to 300 hours each month, depending on the number of accounts that come in."
"What this product allows us to do is to move from on-prem instances where we are running independent instances of FileNet, Datacap, and ODM. It allows us to leverage container-based resiliency and availability modeling so that we have some visibility across the CP4BA ecosystem. We're now migrating all of our data to be in the Cloud Object Storage, and we can now use some of the features of Azure in terms of how we store and retrieve content for our members and our providers."
"I believe two significant features of IBM Cloud Pak for Automation are the focus on SLA management and the capability to handle parallel instances effectively. Parallel instances, for instance, are valuable when dealing with a large number of users, enabling tasks to be performed concurrently for efficient system operation. The SLA aspect is crucial for tracking and ensuring timely completion of tasks. Additionally, the cloud compatibility of IBM BAW allows for seamless migration from on-premises to the cloud. This version also includes a business rule management system for storing and managing business rules effectively."
"It is a low-code platform, that is very intuitive."
"As a former user, Studio Creatio positively impacted my organization in terms of customer engagement; the actual system was great, but given that sometimes the actual data within a company isn't as joined up as it could be, I cannot fault it."
"The most valuable features of the solution are its CRM functionality and the fact that it is a no-code solution"
"It enables automating tasks and provides self-service options, ultimately improving efficiency and customer satisfaction."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is its simplicity."
"The tool enables users to work offline through the mobile application."
"I am actually impressed by the scalability of Studio Creatio. Thanks to BPM and the still available capability of coding, you can do almost anything."
"Overall, Studio Creatio is a very good, flexible tool, and I appreciate that innovation is always present, which is very good for continually evolving cutting-edge technology."

Cons

"Automation Anywhere is not fully compatible with browsers other than Internet Explorer while working with web extraction."
"We have used the technical support. I am quite unhappy with the support part. The higher priority tickets are not getting resolved within the SLA. Higher priority tickets for production issues should be looked into immediately. However, until they get escalated, tickets are not receiving higher priority. I would like to see this improve."
"The key area where improvement can happen is understanding the different perspectives and different industries that they're serving in terms of industry-wise use cases."
"Because we are very new to our process, so we're still sort of working through it."
"We did use quite a bit of Citrix automation. Of course, AI Sense helps you through that. There are two big challenges that I can think of with Citrix automation. Your making multiple hops into end-to-end systems. As you are rating the screen, which is a screen within a screen, which is what Citrix automation is, the complexity increases. That is where the two things will come in: the tool's functionality and the beauty of design. These two have to come in together to make it work. If you don't have one or the other, it's not going to work."
"Automation Anywhere is unable to connect to the database directly. What we are doing now is directly writing the PL/SQL scripts and trying to push the data from the database into Automation Anywhere. This feature is available in UiPath, but not in Automation Anywhere."
"Automation Anywhere can improve by implementing a Citrix environment and increasing the stability of tools, such as IQ bot."
"We looked at the Bot Store initially and didn't find much."
"I believe there is room for improvement in the user interface, particularly in the Process Portal that customers use to view and manage their tasks. The UI of the Process Portal needs enhancement. Additionally, in the next release, I would like to see improved compatibility with Angular, allowing for direct integration with front-end systems. It would be beneficial to have built-in GUI features based on Angular within the system, rather than developing separate applications externally. This, in turn, would provide a more seamless and enhanced front-end experience."
"One of the challenges we're having is finding vendors who have experience in developing on the cloud. We can find developers on the old platform, but it is leading-edge technology. So, we are having some challenges, and IBM is assisting us to find vendor partners. To be able to leverage all the capabilities of the new platform, we have to upgrade our existing ecosystem of FileNet applications. Upgrading to the new platform while trying to modernize is always challenging because it is like you have a moving target."
"Upgrading to the new platform while trying to modernize is always challenging because it is like you have a moving target."
"It would take some time because of lagging. Everybody would have to stop doing it and maybe do it when everybody has finished their work, probably at night shift if everybody is in day shift or after business hours."
"The documentation must be more technical."
"Studio Creatio can be improved since it sometimes requires a minimum operating system memory requirement, which was an issue for me initially when installing it, and a more lightweight version would allow individuals with less hardware to work with it."
"Mobile users are quite frustrated, so the system needs more modern features, modern user interfaces, and an independent development module for the mobile app."
"It does not have the ability to run one single large process."
"The downside of Studio Creatio is when it is marketed as a no-code platform, it does not support creating any website or mobile application."
"Based on my experience, the company's pricing, setup cost, and licensing are somewhat high."
"For processes that require logical thinking and are highly complex with less structured flows, I would rate it a six out of ten because Studio Creatio does not excel at logical thinking, which is the key difference."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing cost for Automation Anywhere is high."
"I really enjoy the pricing options with Automation Anywhere, as they are able to flex their ability to adapt to the needs of the customer really well."
"The pricing that we received from Automation Anywhere in the beginning was very economical for us. We've seen a lot of benefit from what we spent to what we're receiving. From the beginning, it's been a very low-cost implementation for us."
"In the Indian market, I feel that for mid-size companies, such as ourselves, that having multiple bots costs a lot. If Automation Anywhere wants to expand in the Indian market, they will need to look at their pricing."
"We are restricted to use one license on one PC. However, if my license is not working, I want to be able to use it somewhere else. This would be a nice improvement to the licensing, as other competitors in the market have better licensing terms."
"The licensing needs to be made simpler or shortened."
"As far as costs, it depends on your use. We started with a basic department pack, which is over 10K. The additional costs depend on the scale of the engagement and how it pans out. We customize to our needs on the go."
"Automation Anywhere pricing and licensing are competitive compared to the other automation vendors."
"IBM Cloud Pak for Automation is relatively expensive, especially considering it is designed for long-living processes, not for normal automation needs. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate the pricing at around 9. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees, but IBM has multiple pricing models that make it expensive in its own way. Different plans are available, but overall, the experience suggests it is a costly solution."
"Its cost is almost the same or comparable to what we pay with FileNet, but I'm not sure what we pay a year. A good part of CP4BA is the CPU-based licensing model. When we're dealing with 50,000 dentists, for example, if we were to use Salesforce, we would be hit with the licensing of 50,000 dentists, whereas when we build out in CP4BA, it is just based on our CPU usage, not on individual licenses."
"The tool is reasonably priced."
"I rate the product price a five or six on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"I rate the pricing a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"The pricing plans are not user-friendly because in many cases you have to buy different options to get additional features."
"It is fairly competitive."
"From my standpoint, it blows out of the water all the other competitors out there that we were potentially looking at, and it was in a reasonable price range, whereas you have these other Fortune 500 companies that were asking for a ridiculous amount."
