Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Has the ability to change the way that the client works to a service so that we can get a little bit deeper into the operating system
The ability to change the way that the client works to a service so that we can get a little bit deeper into the operating system, as opposed to just an app running is the most valuable aspect. We also like the unattended sessions. Those are probably the two most important things to us. It's important because we can't do certain things when it is just an application running. We have to have it run as a service with the computer so that we can do certain things and use certain functions. As far as the unattended session is concerned, we're able to connect to people's computers without them actually doing anything. We're able to connect to servers and other systems when there's nobody there.

Accessing the same desktop experience from anywhere but user template creation needs improvement
Mostly we are quite happy with it. However, some of us want a more powerful desktop. When not present, we use a remote tool called Splashtop, which is a good solution for some users. We have about ten licenses for those who need a powerful workstation at the office. We have not used many different tools. We are never in contact with Microsoft. These are quite basic configurations, to be honest. It's not complicated. AI is coming to or is already in some applications we are using. Not system-wise, however, it might be good. I'd rate the solution seven out of ten. It's quite good, yet certainly not perfect.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The policy and compliance monitoring of devices and the software deployment are most valuable."
"Autopilot is a great feature. Most users are looking for a zero-touch deployment."
"I like the tool's integration with Apple. Anyone who creates an ID in Intune will get an Apple ID."
"Great for software update needs, operating system version updates, and security policy enforcement."
"The Autopilot feature is the most valuable because it saves significant time on managing devices."
"Among the most valuable features are the Company Portal that is built into Intune, and the update rings so that we can manage what types of future updates the devices get."
"The solution appears to be stable and scalable."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Intune is that it is more of a one-stop shop, providing an easier experience."
"The ability to change the way that the client works to a service so that we can get a little bit deeper into the operating system, as opposed to just an app running is the most valuable aspect. We also like the unattended sessions. Those are probably the two most important things to us. It's important because we can't do certain things when it is just an application running."
"What I found most valuable in Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is accessibility because the solution lets you take control of your computer remotely."
"It's part of the Microsoft Operating system and is free."
"The solution is really fast."
"The solution has very smooth connectivity and is very user friendly."
"It's built into the operating system and has a command line interface capability to insert credentials, IDs, a password, et cetera."
"Good screen draw feature and ability to use two monitors."
"It allows employees to log on to corporate resources remotely."
"It's simple and easy to use."

Cons

"There are some issues using the solution with macOS and iOS, and it offers limited granular control with them. Intune works better on Windows and Android."
"The solution could improve its flexibility."
"There's a significant discrepancy in Intune pricing between tenants."
"The feature that allows us to import the business application from the configuration manager to Intune is not very good at this time."
"The scalability could be improved, and like most other MDM products, Intune is good but not 100% there yet."
"I, as such, do not have any specific inputs or needs. However, there is always room for improvement when it comes to scalability."
"Microsoft needs to strategize its licensing structure. When using Microsoft Intune, we bought a small scale of controls, only controlling part of the devices, though Microsoft Intune can do much more. The Intune Suite offers more features, allowing extensive integration with either internal or cloud environments without requiring third-party licensing. However, each feature has a separate license, making logistics and cost management difficult if not strategically bundled together."
"The Mac integration has room for improvement."
"If they included some sort of monitoring system for managed services so we can have it all in one package, that would be helpful. There are managed services solutions that allow us to remote into the computers, but a lot of them have too much overhead. Usually, the remote connection is not as simple and as fast and cannot be run as a service."
"The solution should introduce a chat feature for end users."
"Remote Desktop Services doesn't scale well."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services needs to improve its security."
"Users have to re-enter their ID and password every time they log on, which is tedious and repetitive."
"The performance of Remote Desktop Services could be better."
"Updates sometimes impact the application and we have system crashes."
"The initial setup of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is not the easiest. You need to have a certain understanding of how Microsoft is provisioning the solution to be able to set it up and use it."
"In the next release, I would like to see better performance over slower networks, and integration with Linux, but this is something that we're going to get out of Microsoft in terms of a unified solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is quite okay. I wish they provide certain additional features with the same license."
"The price is reasonable, but they should lower it a bit to make it more competitive. It's cheaper than AirWatch and other products, but I still feel like Microsoft can make a base version or with Exchange online or a la carte only Intune version which will be useful. A customer who doesn't want to go full-fledged E3 or E5 can take out or consume an Intune solution only for their purpose, and we want to target that customer."
"I recently got to know that the AD P1 license is compulsory to use Intune Autopilot, which was surprising for me. Earlier, this was not the case. It is the wrong thing to do. We now need to purchase AD P1 licenses for us and for our customers. I would rate it a seven out of ten for pricing."
"All security solutions worldwide are expensive. Microsoft has allowed a small scale of features within Microsoft Intune for cost-efficient solutions. If you want the full suite, you need to invest more to gain better security features."
"Intune is inexpensive. It also comes bundled in some Office 365 licenses, so you can choose to purchase it separately or as a package."
"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"We are partners, so we receive some discount. However, from the customer's perspective, Microsoft Intune's pricing is competitive with non-Microsoft technology, and the price is good compared to other market competitors."
"The price of Microsoft Intune is reasonable."
"It's very inexpensive. The seats are $25 monthly apiece or something. There aren't additional costs that I'm aware of."
"The price of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is reasonable."
"The price of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is reasonable. The solution can come for free for some clients with certain agreements."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is less expensive than some other solutions on the market."
"I would say it's expensive as there similar products available for free."
"It's not an expensive product."
"The solution has a perpetual license and it is purchased upfront."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services comes free as part of Microsoft Windows."
"I am aware that for Azure we do have an extra license because we are leveraging on different tenants."
