Cloud logs have supported long-term auditing but security vulnerabilities still raise concerns
It depends on the user. When he needs maybe data retention for one year, for three months or more, I recommend Fortinet FortiGate Cloud. If he doesn't want to set the log on FortiAnalyzer, I will recommend him with Fortinet FortiGate Cloud. It depends. As I mentioned before, if they don't have a syslog server or any other SIEM, I will recommend it. If they need an audit for one year of data retention, I will recommend it because it's worth the money for one year of log retention. It's straightforward. If I enable Fortinet FortiGate Cloud feature on the FortiGate on-premise or VM, it will copy the configuration on the cloud. Depending on my license, I can configure it or have it as read-only with a limited license. That's one of the main purposes of Fortinet FortiGate Cloud for me. The report doesn't have many templates, but the log retention is so good with one-year retention. If you compare it with the FortiAnalyzer or maybe with any other product such as a FortiSIEM template, with the limited license, you only get the 360 template, it's called. I think the security function, I mainly use it for configuration purposes and log retention purposes. The security is the same as the VM or the hardware, I think. The sandbox. I think it has it, but not a lot if you only have the default capability with only 10 files per minute. I think the user needs to be selective with the files that they want to send to the sandbox on the cloud.

Offers comprehensive reporting and helps track offline devices effectively
Fortinet FortiPortal provides the ability to see which firmwares are out of date and indicates which firewall licenses have expired. It allows us to track which firewalls are offline, offering a read-only view if on-site access is unavailable. This overview, coupled with comprehensive reporting, is quite beneficial for managing our firewalls.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"FortiGate Cloud's most valuable feature is that it's 100% managed."
"I find it particularly helpful for certificate inspection and setting up anti-DDoS, intrusion prevention, antivirus, and file inspection policies."
"This product is easy to manage and easy to use."
"The scalability is good, and if a company needs to expand it, it can do so."
"It's very easy to maintain."
"The tool is a mature product, ahead of brands like Sophos, though not quite at the Palo Alto or Checkpoint level. I'd rate it nine out of ten for being cost-effective and offering features similar to high-end options."
"It covers all needs of our customers and works well."
"The sandboxing feature is very important."
"I like the tool's controller facility."
"The role-based access controls give us granular control over what features to present to a customer, and the integration into FortiAnalyzer is the most valuable feature."
"I am very comfortable with it, including it's reporting on threats and through its activities."
"From a scalability perspective, I found the solution to be completely fine...The solution's technical support is absolutely fine."
"I like the product's asset management which gives clear hardware details."
"It does a little bit better than some of the other products health-wise and updates-wise. It is really clear that a firewall is getting the signature updates in this timeframe. In some of the other products, usually, you have to go a couple of screens in to see that, but not so much in this product."
"The documentation has been satisfactory."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is application control."

Cons

"The solution should include a commit button that allows for review of changes and deployments before they are submitted."
"I don’t like the licensing. It’s grown too expensive, and we are considering leaving the service over as the price increases."
"Some configuration changes would be helpful."
"There is room for improvement in their management and downtime. They're constantly doing maintenance and there are unexpected downtimes for the cloud interface."
"The solution is a bit expensive. Pricing is the only concern as it is too expensive."
"Things are moving increasingly towards hardware agnostic appliances, an area in which I would like Fortinet to be more focused and fast moving with that product line."
"The cost of the solution is too high. It should be adjusted to be more affordable for companies."
"However, the absence of certain features like CLI is a drawback."
"There can be defects in Fortinet FortiPortal when functioning at high temperatures."
"It's useful for us but if it had more educational reporting, it would good. It's not necessarily lacking but it's an area that could get better."
"It's useful for us but if it had more educational reporting, it would be good."
"Fortinet FortiPortal could improve by providing a learning portal and better security."
"If you are a very small company or a person on your own, it's harder to get any response from technical support."
"The product must have in-built SD-WAN connectivity."
"So if it's more than a thousand, there could be some scalability issues. It becomes more complex as you go."
"The solution is more expensive than other products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is mid-priced when compared to other products."
"The license does not include many of the features that are necessary, which means that you have to pay extra for them."
"Fortinet FortiGate Cloud is cheaper than VMware and Cisco in the Bangladeshi market. Its pricing is reasonable."

"The solution is quite expensive."
"The licensing costs attached to the solution make it an expensive product."
"I am satisfied with the pricing for this solution."
