Offers reliable log retention and monitoring with prompt customer support
Fortinet FortiPortal ( /products/fortinet-fortiportal-reviews )'s most valuable feature as a free service is the log retention for at least seven days. It is useful for our service-providing company as I manage many clients and need reminders for UTM license expiries. The service comes bundled when buying licenses, providing these features for free. Fortinet cloud also allows for basic management such as monitoring expiries and storing logs from devices for a week if configured correctly.

Centralized monitoring enhances control while seeking greater flexibility and rapid response

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The documentation has been satisfactory."
"I like the tool's controller facility."
"From a scalability perspective, I found the solution to be completely fine...The solution's technical support is absolutely fine."
"The role-based access controls give us granular control over what features to present to a customer, and the integration into FortiAnalyzer is the most valuable feature."
"I like the product's asset management which gives clear hardware details."
"I am very comfortable with it, including it's reporting on threats and through its activities."
"The firewall and site-blocking features are valuable."
"Everything works perfectly, and stability has not been an issue."
"I like the quality of this product, and it performs. It's the best solution in the IT business."
"Templates and the possibility to apply a configuration to many devices at the same time are the most valuable features. We are able to create templates, and we don't need to go to each firewall to make changes. We can make changes in Panorama, and it automatically applies those changes to all those firewalls on which we want to apply the changes. It provides centralized management."
"I like its flexibility."
"I really like the product."
"We use the solution for centralized monitoring."
"The product was great, and whenever there was a bug or issue, they released updates quickly. Additionally, their support was very good."
"The most valuable features of this solution are that it works better than a normal firewall, easy to explorer all of its features, and it has the Log Collector mode. This mode allows us to store our logs for two years in the solution itself."
"The dashboards are very good on Palo Alto. They offer a centralized dashboard for managers as well."

Cons

"I find their logging a little bit trickier to manage. The logging of events is broken up into a lot of different categories. Instead of breaking up my logs into several different places, I personally like to have all the events in one spot and then filter them down. In particular, I find that troubleshooting on Fortinet takes a little bit longer just because of those functional breakups in the logs."
"There can be defects in Fortinet FortiPortal when functioning at high temperatures."
"The solution is more expensive than other products."
"So if it's more than a thousand, there could be some scalability issues. It becomes more complex as you go."
"The only complaint about Fortinet FortiPortal is the need for frequent firmware upgrades, as it requires constant updating due to potential security vulnerabilities."
"If you are a very small company or a person on your own, it's harder to get any response from technical support."
"Fortinet FortiPortal could improve by providing a learning portal and better security."
"The product must have in-built SD-WAN connectivity."
"They can improve its cloud integration."
"In our version, there is no feature to transfer or upload a database of third-party vulnerabilities or signatures so that Panorama can convert them into its own database. This kind of feature might already have come in version 10."
"The solution should improve the speed at which they make changes on the system. Historically, they've been a bit slow in that respect. They should apply changes to the box quicker and more often."
"Instead of searching their knowledge base in their website, maybe they can interact with us in the user interface to explain things better."
"The price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama could be better."
"There is room for improvement in response time for tech support."
"Integration between Panorama and the Edge Firewall has a lot of issues, like different configuration assets, configuration object templates, lack of flexibility, and not a good browser."
"We have experienced a few bugs which the team at Palo Alto don't have solutions for."

"Fortinet FortiPortal is expensive in Pakistan."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"I am satisfied with the pricing for this solution."
"Fortinet FortiPortal is not expensive."
"On average, it tends to be cheaper than other enterprise solutions."
"Fortinet FortiPortal is relatively expensive, but being an industry-leading firewall, it does come with a cost."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"The licensing costs attached to the solution make it an expensive product."
"With the URL filtering, we probably went down from around four hours in response time to about five minutes."
"We have a yearly license. The cost is not that high and not that cheap either."
"The price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is expensive."
"Palo Alto is expensive and there are many cheaper firewalls, but they do not work as well."
"Everyone, I suppose, would like the price to be improved. Price is always a good thing to change."
"The price of Palo Alto Networks Panorama should be reduced. We pay for the solution annually."
"The pricing is pretty average. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate it a five."
