Brings data together from multiple platforms and optimizes cross-environment orchestration
The features of Control-M that I like the most include the ability to easily integrate or bring in different platforms into Control-M. For instance, AWS, mainframe, TWS, and something that's running on Autosys can all be brought into Control-M, converted to how Control-M runs it, and then the batch can be executed. This centralizes various applications in Control-M, which doesn't just have to handle batch processes, but also other tasks like reporting on required data. I find this functionality very useful and the setup is impressive, with more advancements yet to come. With Control-M, my company has achieved several measurable improvements since I started. The metrics indicate that the number of failures has dropped, and we have addressed the issue of excessive false alerts that I encountered when I joined. Previously, we received an overwhelming number of alerts daily, but now we manage to maintain that at a normalized level, perhaps around five to fifteen alerts, depending on running core batches and their setup.

Chatbot has organized HR queries and has improved employee experience and self-service
The best feature that Leena AI offers is that it improves daily. Everything is improving with Leena AI, especially with enhancements in integrations, analytics, and the addition of AI in chatbots that help personalize content and provide relevant answers to end users based on past experiences from other companies. I worked in Human Resources and managed only the human resources section of Leena AI. Currently, Leena AI has also onboarded smart integration with WhatsApp, Teams, and Outlook, which is a valuable feature to have. Leena AI has positively impacted my organization since I implemented it in 2022 during COVID, as it organized messages from management and recruiters for 25,000 employees, helping to check their wellbeing while circulating important messages. After implementing Leena HR chatbot recently, workflows were streamlined. Queries that previously took five, six, or ten days to resolve are now managed under SLA, significantly improving employee experience. The improvements include an increase in resolution times. Since Leena AI is a growing chatbot, information that was previously scattered is now centralized, improving employee experience from 70% to 90% according to our survey.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The flexibility of Helix Control-M allows us to manage tasks efficiently. The user interface is comprehensive and lets me view all my jobs on one page, monitor everything, and access the job history."
"Most valuable feature would be the ability to detect and notify when a process has not completed successfully."
"The multiple scheduling options allow you to do anything you want, whenever you want, and however you want. You can easily be in control when things happen."
"They transitioned to Control-M based on its features related to SLA and workflow visibility, which significantly helped them."
"Dashboard and recovery are the features I found most valuable in the solution."
"The scalability of this solution is very good. The current solution is used wide spread in my company, but I don't have any plans to expand."
"Control-M provides us with a unified view, where we can easily define, orchestrate, and monitor all our application workflows and data pipelines. It also provides the ability to filter. So, if I don't want to see everything, I can also narrow it down or open ViewPoint. This is very important since we have thousands of jobs to monitor. If we did not have this ability, it would be very difficult to see what is going on."
"I would definitely recommend Control-M to every institute because it is extremely helpful to manage every task without any manual error."
"Leena AI has positively impacted my organization by improving the efficiency of employees who were earlier not aware where to go to submit their HR-related queries."
"After implementing Leena HR chatbot recently, workflows were streamlined, queries that previously took five, six, or ten days to resolve are now managed under SLA, significantly improving employee experience."

Cons

"The high availability that comes from BMC with its supplied Postgres database is very limited. Even using your customer-supplied Postgres database is problematic. We have engaged with them regarding this, but it is difficult. My company doesn't want to do this and BMC doesn't want to do that. We just need to find some middle ground to get the proper high availability. We're also moving away, like the rest of the world, from the more expensive offerings, like Oracle. We are trying to use Postgres, which is free. The stability is good. It is just that the high availability configuration is not ideal. It could be better."
"I do not have any specific suggestions for additional features that should be included in the next release."
"It can definitely expand promotions, so that a single job can be moved. Currently you can only promote a job by promoting the entire table."
"Implementing it is not straightforward. It requires careful installation, customization, and configuration."
"There are areas for improvement, especially with the transition from the thick client to the web GUI. While Control-M's main game-changer is its GUI, the current web interface is less user-friendly than the thick client."
"I would love to see REST API integration and more plugins for Google Cloud Platform compared to AWS and Azure."
"Password vaulting would be a feature that should be included."
"Offering it as open source for free would be great, however, that's unlikely."
"Customer support for Leena AI is very good, but it takes a lot of turnaround time to come back and resolve the questions, queries, or issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its cost is a little bit higher than other solutions such as AutoSys or DAC. For the demo, there were some plans, such as start plan, scale plan, etc. Pricing was based on the plan."
"Initially, our licensing model was based on the number of jobs per day. That caused some issues because we were restricted to a number. So at our renewal time we said, 'We want to convert from number of jobs to number of endpoints.' That cost us extra money but it gave us additional capabilities, without worrying about the number of jobs."
"This is an area where it is a little difficult to work with BMC. They want to do licenses by job, which is what we have. For example, the simplest is to license by job, but they can also license by nodes. While the licensing is simple to use, it might not be the correct licensing model for the customer. It is okay because we want to license by job, which is something measurable. At the end of the day, licensing by job is the most important."
"In our environment, pricing depends on the total number of maximum jobs that can run, which is fine. Therefore, if the number of jobs increases, then the licensing fees will increase."
"Yearly licenses are based on the number of jobs."
"You must accept that BMC licensing can be very confusing. No one can easily understand how they calculate things, whether it is user-based, job-based, or server-based. The calculation is quite tough. How BMC calculates licensing is not easily available anywhere."
"The cost of the hardware is high. Because you need to license each job, it is costly."
"The cost is basically $100 a job, give or take."
