Pega is a low-code platform that enables organizations to build, automate, and optimize business processes and customer experiences through AI-powered decisioning and workflow automation.
Here are the key areas where Pega Platform could be improved: 1. User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) Customization Limitations: The UI layer is tightly coupled with the platform, limiting flexibility for custom front-end development. Constellation Architecture: While it improves consistency, it restricts advanced UI customizations compared to older section-based designs. Learning Curve: Non-technical users find the UI unintuitive despite the low-code promise. 2. Integration & Extensibility Limited Out-of-the-Box Integrations: Users report challenges integrating with non-relational databases and legacy systems. Robotics Integration: Pega RPA (formerly OpenSpan) is not seamlessly integrated with BPM, creating silos in automation. 3. AI & Decisioning AI Capabilities Need Maturity: Users expect more advanced, native AI features without relying on external tools. CDH & Decision Hub: While powerful, these components require deep expertise to configure effectively. 4. Cost & Licensing High Licensing Costs: Pega is often seen as expensive, especially for small and mid-sized enterprises. Lack of Flexible Pricing Models: Calls for subscription-based or usage-based pricing to improve accessibility. 5. Performance & Scalability Scalability Concerns: Some users report performance degradation with large user bases or complex workflows. Upgrade Complexity: Platform upgrades can be time-consuming and disruptive if not planned well. 6. Documentation & Community Support Insufficient Learning Resources: Especially for advanced features, documentation is limited and community support is not as strong as competitors. Talent Availability: Finding skilled Pega professionals remains a challenge in many regions. 7. Low-Code/No-Code Experience Not Fully No-Code: Despite branding, some tasks still require technical intervention, and the drag-and-drop interface can be restrictive 2. Conflict Management: Simultaneous development by multiple users can lead to rule conflicts.

Pros

"CA Process Automation manager is a very powerful production tool."
"For our use it really does very well; it provides us exactly what we need, and it runs with low-resource utilization and moves quickly."
"We took our server provisioning process from about 30 days to about 4 days on the first iteration of implementation."
"It is easy to debug and troubleshoot."
"Technical support is unequivocally excellent; in fact, the best customer service and technical support I’ve experienced during my 12 years in IT."
"This tool is used in my organization for automating IT infrastructure related incidents or service requests."
"It’s a great product, extremely versatile but takes a certain skillset to use and implementation of automation can be time consuming when done properly."
"Before implementing this product, our Problem and Change Management Processes were very poor, but nowadays, thanks to CA Process Automation (PAM), we no longer have this problem, as we now have all of the processes' rules placed inside of it."
"We find the product to be scalable."
"Whenever a customer needs to do something, the way Pega designs the whole thing into an easy number of steps makes the flow from the actual intent to the actual final results pretty fast."
"Previously, our HR onboarding application ran in silos, so everything was happening separately, but Pega BPM allowed us to consolidate all the data in one place, from which we could define our business workflow, meaning we have the entire flow running in one application from start to end with the help of third-party application data."
"Pega BPM can be deployed on-premise and in the cloud, and all the scalability issues are addressed with Pega BPM because you can create enterprise-grade solutions with the architecture it has."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its quick setup, as nowhere else can you create a good-looking application this quickly, and from an end-user perspective you can build a really good user experience with the user interface they offer."
"Pega is currently number one in BPM and case management solutions, according to Gartner and Forrester."
"The most valuable feature is flexibility, as we can configure it to best suit our requirements."
"This is a customizable product."

Cons

"The solution engine is in Java. Regardless of developments, the solution will always be limited to what Java offers."
"A lot of times they don't get resolved, but I'm okay with those kind of responses sometimes."
"It needs auto-triggering of workflows based on machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI)."
"Make some of the features more open source that way developers can have more flexibility."
"Every so often the service needs to be restarted otherwise it runs slower and slower. I think this may be due to a memory leak."
"It’s very complex, which is one of the disadvantages."
"OCR capability should be added as a feature."
"These configurations can be changed only through the installation wizard. There's no way to update such information in the administration interface, which is, in my opinion, very bad."
"There are several areas for improvement with this product. The performance of the application is very slow, the UI needs improvement, and the architecture needs to be simplified."
"The cost of licensing could be improved."
"In the next release of Pega BPM, they should add more ways to do the customer interaction fields in the portals."
"The way the IDE works with the chatbox and the taxonomy imports could be a little smoother."
"On a scale of one to ten, I would rate their support as an eight. I say eight because they have global support, so sometimes it takes time."
"PegaRULES need to improve its JVM. It needs to enhance the operation speed and memory size."
"Reporting is not so clear and not so great. We really struggle to get the right reporting. When we need reporting based on the content of the tickets, we are not able to get it. The MIS reporting is not great. That's one of the reasons why we are switching to ServiceNow. Its compatibility with the higher versions of Internet Explorer should be improved. It really works well in Mozilla Firefox or any other browser, but when it comes to Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer, sometimes, the layout gets disturbed. The positioning of the buttons changes, and there is some distortion in the layout. I am not sure whether it is our configuration problem or Pega's, but when it is working in Mozilla Firefox, it should also work in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer."
"If it's not implemented by knowledgeable resources it's going to be a disaster."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are a lot of automation savings from any process which is repeatable."
"It has provided ROI by auto resolving incidents or requests in the ITSM queue, improved MTTR and SLA adherence, and added value to the delivery of services and the customer experience."
"The price of Pega BPM falls on the higher side of the spectrum if I were to compare it with other solutions in the market."
"Users have to pay a yearly license cost for Pega BPM, which is expensive."
"Pega is expensive."
"The product pricing is considered reasonable compared to other solutions in the market."
"I am not aware of the cost. But, considering the licenses, user licenses, and infrastructure, I'd guess around a million USD."
"I rate Pega BPM a seven out of ten."
"Pega BPM is expensive because it's a leading product, but it also delivers a good return on investment (ROI)."
"It's a user-based license where, as you scale the numbers of users, the price increases."
