Broad perspective on strategic management exists but integration challenges hinder efficiency
The product execution part, such as planning and executing, is done through Atlassian tools, specifically Jira. We wanted to upgrade our ability to understand how all these products and teams are working against strategic goals, tracking expenses and time, but the integration between Broadcom Clarity and Atlassian Jira is very cumbersome and not straightforward. Their integration, even with ConnectALL, is just adequate, but it's never going to be great because they are actively trying to sell Rally. To make Broadcom Clarity a perfect product, I think with Jira, nothing can be done. To be fair, I don't know exactly how Rally integration works as I've only read about it, but I know that in marketing papers, it seems amazing with full-on integration, whereas with Jira, it just doesn't work that effectively.

Highly robust tool enhances project management for large-scale programs
The tool can be improved with integrations to Agile tools. We used Azure DevOps, which I dislike. Better integrations to JIRAs and perhaps open APIs for task management would be super beneficial. As a project management tool, it is perfect, but the ability to be agile with task management could improve it. There is always an opportunity for more flexibility regarding integrated reporting. The project dashboard feature worked perfectly for small to small-medium projects, but on a large scale, it was not flexible enough to handle a program-level dashboard. However, that is probably a nice-to-have rather than a need-to-have. The integrations to Agile are essential; we had to do a full build to accomplish that.

Responsive support, good third-party integration, and offers hybrid-mode project management
There are a lot of features. The most valuable feature is the ability to implement different scenarios. For example, a big company can implement its next three-year strategy along the two or three main pillars of the approach. Each pillar is composed of several portfolios, and each of those is composed of different projects. When you define the strategy for the next three-year budget, you can analyze the impact of each option. Based on this, you can decide things like assigning more or fewer resources to a project. You can allocate generic resources, like a project manager. Then in the second stage, you can assign names such as who specifically will be in charge of a project. You can do the same thing with all of the human resources that are involved. It provides the capability of integrating with the Agile Scrum component module. There is also integration with third-parties like Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, Check Point, Jira, ServiceNow!, and others. There is the separation between execution from a technical point of view where the staff can work in a classical workflow, Agile, or a hybrid Agile. The project manager and program manager will receive the high-level information needed to keep strict control over the project. You are able to do whatever is needed from the customer's point of view, without coding. Configuring the platform does not require the writing of any code. This is something that is very important. As soon as a new informational structure is created, it will be immediately available for the business intelligence module. This means that you can perform analytics on it. The BI module is very helpful. There is no comparison between it and other BI tools that are available right now. The network uptime is greater than 99%.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Visibility to where we are on projects. It tells someone where we are; if we're in trouble or not."
"We have flexible scrum teams, developers that will serve on one scrum team for a few sprints or for a project. Being able to track where people go with the resource management features, and making sure that our teams are fully staffed, is important."
"Being able to look at the data across team members, resources, projects and coming up with the algorithms and resources."
"It makes the whole lifecycle of project management a lot easier than using the legacy systems, which we are retiring every few months because of PPM."
"Having information all together in one single source."
"It has highlighted areas in our company that were deficient in resources. It has allowed us to hire, then realize more benefits regarding the number of projects we can get done."
"We just put all the data into one place and hopefully, after we have accurate data, we can make more decisions based on real data rather than gut feeling."
"The most valuable features are the project, resource, and portfolio management processes are combined in one solution. The data is possible to use either in the one or the other process, and we do not need to enter the data multiple times."
"Planisware has improved our project visibility, resource utilization, decision-making, and cost control, leading to higher efficiency and better alignment between business strategy and project execution."
"Planisware is a beautiful tool that is very efficient, clear, well-designed, and more robust than any I have used."
"We have a variety of different modules, but it is mainly used for costs, risks, and resources."
"The solution is performance-oriented and easily customized accordingly to many areas, such as performance KPI."
"It has an inbuilt BI tool, which can be compared to Power BI or Tableau."
"Planisware has introduced Agile concepts, making it capable of Agile management similar to Jira and other Agile tools."
"The positive impact I have seen from working with Planisware is due to its efficacy and speed; it has very few updates and is easy to use."
"Planisware's advanced reporting capabilities help the organization track project performance and align initiatives with organizational goals."
"Configuring the platform does not require the writing of any code."

Cons

"It would be good for them to work on the user interface to make it more interactive."
"Portfolio Management Solution for Project Strategizing" What is our primary use case? It is mainly used for project management, developing the portfolio of the project and the budget process of all projects. What is most valuable? For a very long time, Broadcom Clarity had not developed the old interface that Broadcom no and we were not able to see any new features on the system because of the older UEX. We switched to the new UX at the end of March and it needs some time for the user to react to the new features. But if overall main features are being talked about, the financial part of Clarity is really appreciated. What needs improvement? Among things to be improved, Clarity can really work on its SAP interface. The current interface lacks out-of-the-box connectors for different applicators in the system. Therefore, this requires external support, which is beyond our expertise. In-house development is done for the interface, but as the system becomes complex, there is a building need to maintain the necessity of updates. If the updates aren’t maintained, then the system might be compatible. Additionally, the report generation process using a different software poses difficulties, leading to the need for external consultancy to create specific reports. Certain features, also face compatibility issues with our existing system. Despite these limitations, we find the system satisfactory overall, although a learning curve exists, especially for those unfamiliar with its particularities."
"When you are going to a more collaborative based approach, PPM does not support that."
"Needs Gantt to MS Project link."
"In the future, I would like to see integrated Agile features and better integration with Agile tools."
"We are having difficulty using the Broadcom mobile application, which is not compatible with our network and inflow settings."
"The Broadcom Clarity PPM dashboard needs improvement , because it's too slow. The look and feel of the platform, including its UX, also need some enhancement."
"The solution could improve the way the workflow is developed. I think they could be more dynamic because they are in a way static. They're very powerful, but they don't have any interaction with end-users."
"The biggest con for Planisware is that if you are not a Planisware partner, you don't have access to their functions, making it difficult for beginners and new team members."
"The UI and UX of Planisware are not that advanced."
"I have experienced some issues, and that’s okay. It tends to be stable when the server's processing power and memory are adequate."
"The solution's user experience and user interface need improvement because they are not that great and intuitive."
"They do not have anything that can assist customers with multi-year roadmap planning."
"The reports should be improved because all companies now need reporting, and with tools such as Grafana or Tableau, Planisware needs to add interfaces for data lakes since all companies require this."
"The area that could benefit from improvement in this Planisware is the project management tool. I have previously used Project Server, which is a Microsoft solution, and I found it to be more user-friendly as it included a client solution. In contrast, with this solution, the only option available is the online version, making it difficult to create activities, milestones, and other necessary components. This is in comparison to Planisware, which offers a more comprehensive solution."
"More integration is needed with other kinds of products for better collaboration."
"A lot of companies are investing heavily in artificial intelligence, so more such features would benefit this product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For all the functionalities of the solution, the price is in the market range, since it is a product which offers governance issues and supports the digital transformation, which is where we will go in the next year."
"We're also moving to the latest version for less than $20,000 for a major corporate system. It's just amazing."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
"Pricing is flexible, depending on the customer and the region."
"The licensing costs are a little bit high, and unfortunately, it has been a while since I've had that paperwork in front of me. I don't remember how much it was, but it seemed like it was fairly high. It is probably comparable to some of the other solutions because I do know that, for example, on a lot of the AWS stuff, they found that the costs wound up being higher than having some on-prem solution. Comparatively, Clarity is within the price range of other solutions."
"It is a little bit costly compared to others, but it is mature. Customer should understand this product is geared towards project management, not financial management."
"Better understanding of requirements and how it will be implemented (with number of licenses for a given budget) would help."
"The price point of Broadcom Clarity PPM is less than Planisware. If a customer comes to me, and the cost is the main parameter for the selection of a tool, then I'll recommend Broadcom because cost-wise, they are less than other solutions."
"The solution could be less expensive and the cost of scaling is expensive too."
"There are training and certification costs."
"The solution is expensive and support is an extra cost. There are three license types to choose from, and we only pay for support and cloud services depending on our needs."
"It comes with a high cost."
