Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Offers a secure method of access without having to install agents everywhere.""It's very secure, and it works very well. I like their remote support feature. It can be used for our clients' desktops or anywhere where the client can be working. I'd have to say the product is very good. It's a strong solution for us.""The solution is stable.""The solution has been very stable. We haven't had issues at all. It doesn't crash or freeze. There aren't bugs or glitches either.""It is effective. It is a good way of making sure that you're auditing what's going on. It also makes the end-user feel safe that you're not getting into things that you shouldn't be getting into because they're authorizing different areas for you to see. It is a pretty secure tool. It is important as far as security is concerned. It is very effective in terms of the support personnel being able to get the job done when they need to. It is easy for the end-user or the person we're helping out to understand how to allow somebody in to get the work done.""Solution has a good UI.""This is a very secure product.""The most valuable feature of BeyondTrust Remote Support is the ability to control screens remotely."

More BeyondTrust Remote Support Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the ability to connect to our on-premise applications, through the Workspace app and the Workspace experience. The user experience when using the solution's technology remotely is good. Our users are able to work and it's seamless. The performance is also good.""The most valuable feature is the gateway to a remote connection, to a physical or a virtual PC. Compared to a normal VPN client and connection, the connection via Citrix is more stable and does not consume as much network bandwidth.""The most valuable feature has to be the non-persistent desktop. If one of my users messes something up and blows away their desktop, it goes back to what it was originally, before they had an issue.""The Provisioning Services are the most valuable feature. We have Premium licensing, so Provisioning Services is huge for us, along with the Virtual Apps and Desktops part. It allows us to have a vDisk for every region, one that can easily be copied between them if we need to, to limit the amount of updates we have to do.""It provides all of the features required for the protection of data. For example, we don't want to allow any copy/paste of data to an outside environment, and we are able to restrict the VDI to not allow any data transfer from the VDI to the local laptop's hard drives. That is one of the greatest advantages the solution provides.""Among the most valuable features is the Citrix Workspace, which allows us to drive that thin-client connection and the remote control/remote access capabilities. Those things have allowed us to connect an awful lot of people quickly from home and that's obviously helped during the pandemic.""Before we adopted a VDI storage solution, our customers' personal information was leaked. This happened a lot. But since we adopted a VDI solution, these kinds of issues have happened rarely.""For the most part, overall stability is what you would expect."

Cons
"In the next release, I would like remote access to Chrome included.""Lacks remote support and privileged remote access in the one product.""It is pricey. It would be nice if it weren't so expensive because then you could afford more licenses and have more people involved, but I get it. They do have something that's unique compared to some of their competitors out on the market. It is a very robust and safe tool. If the price could come down, that'd be great.""Lacks some kind of voice communication option.""iOS interactive support would be a cool addition. Right now it's a non-interactive view.""It is expensive. Its initial setup was also a little bit involved, but it was nothing that we couldn't eventually handle. Currently, it has the ability to share screens. Somebody having an issue with their phone can share their screen with a technician sitting at a computer. It would be nice to also be able to control phones remotely, but this could be a limitation of a phone's operating system.""It could be more compatible with other applications. We had trouble with compatibility when it came to Entrust. This is because we had issues with Windows machines when we installed Entrust.""Non-Windows support capabilities need improvement. They need to expand into Macs, iOS, and Android. It's there now, however, there's room for growth and that's probably the best area to expand."

More BeyondTrust Remote Support Cons →

"It would help if it were a little simpler. It's a bit complicated and we have hired Citrix administrators. But it's a good solution.""I think Citrix's support is good, but sometimes it is a little slow.""There is room for improvement because it has a lot of dependency on Active Directory and other things. If they could come up with something similar and native, a complete solution portfolio would help.""Latency is also a major problem when adopting Citrix for video editing software or 3D editing software, especially editing 4K video or large file size. The Citrix virtualized solution becomes too slow, so we cannot use the VDI.""If anything could be improved, it might be some of the Director functionality, and some of the dashboard customization, or the overall Director customization.""In the bank, a major part of all our applications is Microsoft App-V. If App-V is at end of life, then we need a new technology to replace it. As of today, I haven't seen in Citrix Studio that there is a new technology embedded directly in it to replace App-V.""I think improvement around the Analytics piece is super important. There has been a lot of maturity over the last year in that area, though a lot more needs to be done. Also, a lot more of the value of those Analytics needs to be sold to end users. Citrix is working on a lot of things that are ahead of the curve and a lot of organizations aren't quite there yet with implementing those technologies and capabilities.""When I needed support for a couple of things, three people intervened. Each time, three people gave me a different answer. In the end, they did not manage to give the right answer. At a certain point, they stopped replying."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The licensing is concurrent and we spend about $10,000. It's my understanding that there aren't any extra costs beyond just the straight licensing."
  • "I would prefer that it was more affordable."
  • "We pay every year for the box, and there are no additional costs."
  • "It is expensive. Performance-wise, it is pretty good, but we're less happy with the cost. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. It is also on a per-technician basis. A certain number of concurrent technicians can log in and access all the features."
  • "It is pretty pricey. It is not cheap. The licensing structure is not cheap. The tool is not cheap, but in the long run, it is well worth it. It is probably one of the best on the market because it is just so easy to use and easy to deploy. It gave us the ability to see what everybody was doing. It held people accountable. It gave us the accountability that we needed."
  • More BeyondTrust Remote Support Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Based not only on the cost of Citrix, but additional costs like firewalls, IPS, and other solutions, the total cost of switching users from using normal laptops with VPNs to connection via Citrix were so huge that the CEO of our company decided to postpone the deployment process."
  • "The licensing, in general, is expensive. A lot of customers battle to pay the amount. It's very difficult to ensure that your solution provides the business value that the customer is after."
  • "The cost of the Citrix software reflects what I would expect a product of that nature, in that market, to be. Understanding the licensing is quite a bit more complicated, because one of the things about Citrix is that you can buy licensing at different levels... Yet I still like the idea because it means that if all you need is a basic load balancing solution, then you don't need to buy an advanced or premium license."
  • "Citrix is a mid-range cost solution compared to some others out there."
  • "In terms of pricing with the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, I think it has gotten better over the years. Citrix has found more dynamic ways to be able to revive licensing models that fit many different scenarios that organizations have. We have been able to evolve our own licensing over the years to accommodate our situations between concurrent versus user device licenses. Now, when we move into the Citrix Workspace realm, we definitely have some awesome options there."
  • "If you look at cost, then you must look at the number of users that you are covering. If you are only using it for some users, then it is very expensive. However, if you have a massive amount of users, then it begins to be interesting to use Citrix. Because once you are managing thousands of servers with one guy, your maintenance costs decrease per user."
  • "It's my understanding that the solution license fee for each user is around $300 US. If we buy a personal laptop for each employee every five years, then the total cost is five times $300 US, or $1,500 USD. So we could buy 100 personal laptops instead of the Citrix solution."
  • "The purchase price was around $300,000 USD and then the maintenance fees were 20%. There are no other additional fees."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by BeyondTrust Remote Support users.

A Cybersecurity Architect at a tech vendor says, “The most valuable features are the ease of deployment, performance, pre and post-sales support, the vast majority of the localization they have done and the solution provider that they support. You can't compete with TeamViewer or any other similar products. It's completely in a class of its own.”

An Enterprise Service Desk Systems Manager at a manufacturing company comments, "Screen sharing, in general, is pretty important for a service desk. Another thing that I have found to be very helpful is that you can also do screen sharing on a cell phone. When people have an issue with their cell phone, it is ordinarily very difficult to troubleshoot the issue. With BeyondTrust Remote Support, you can share the cell phone screen, and somebody can take a look at it remotely. I am not sure if other competing solutions offer this feature. It is pretty user-friendly. It is also good performance-wise."

PeerSpot user Mark B., Sr VP of Business Operations at Networking Technologies and Support, Inc., explains that he thinks the solution is “Great for delivering end-user support, good at recording sessions, and very stable.
