Very cost-effective and well organized with good compression
It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company. A managerial user who wants more information beyond the operational technician should be able to access it. It could include greater transparency regarding the volume of data trafficked on the network, as well as the expectation of deduplication. A more practical strategy could come with a backup policy model as a suggestion for both large and small companies. A simple suggestion is to visually implement the backup time as far as your physical media.
Harry Vining - PeerSpot reviewer
The overall ease of use and ease of management using the dashboard is excellent
I can't really think of anything that really needs to be improved from my perspective, because I only use the backup. Maybe someone who is using something else might have a different opinion on that. But for the online backup and recovery tool, I'm not going to say there's anything that needs improvement. They can always improve stuff. But from the top of my head, I can't think of anything. It does what it needs to do. That's it. It doesn't need to do anything more than what it does and nothing less than what it's doing. The Infrascale dashboard when it comes to centralized deployment and configuration is excellent. I have no problems with the solution. They could always make it better. They can always make the GUI a little bit nicer, the interface level a bit better. There's always room for improvement, but there's nothing on the top of my head that's saying, "Hey, this is what needs to be fixed." But, the programmers are probably working on their own things. So, there's always room for improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features are the special plugins such as SAP HANA databases, Microsoft SQL, and various types of virtualization."
"It brought many advantages - such as the learning curve being very light."
"The solution has extensive documentation and a very active community."
"Bacula is very solid, very stable, and very scalable."
"Bacula is pretty stable."
"It is easy to scale Bacula Enterprise even if your system is growing tremendously in data and servers."
"It works great and it provides you with several standard tools to restore your backup, even after a big failure."
"It can be used in virtually any environment we have onsite."
"Get Infrascale and talk to their team. They will support you, and they will make you the happiest customer out there."
"The interface of Infrascale Backup & Disaster Recovery is very easy to use, and there are no problems. It's set it and forget it. You can make adjustments very easily as well."
"The Infrascale Dashboard is very easy to understand, has a good overview, and gives me access to all my appliances without having to have a local VPN connection to the individual clients. It makes it very easy to find my way around."
"The initial setup was straightforward and we received support from the manufacturer."
"The ease of use is valuable. It is user-friendly. Performing backup and recovery can be done very intuitively with the solution and the interface that is part of the solution."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is simple to use."
"Given that we are in the hurricane belt, the spin-up of replicated servers in the cloud is among the most valuable features. If our site goes down we can just connect to the cloud appliance, spin up the servers, and we are good to go."
"The recovery of data is the most valuable feature. The software backup, which is just a program that gets installed on a server, can back up to the cloud. You can install that on a server or PC, and that will simply back up a user's files and folders. If it is installed on the server, we just back up the relevant data. Recovering that, if there has been a malicious attack on a business or anything like that, has been invaluable in the past. The good features about that are obviously, if the physical hardware has a problem, then we can utilize the appliance, turn on the virtual machine, and carry on running the business while we put the hardware back and correct the issue."

Cons

"Easier setup and configuration, perhaps including a GUI, would be an improvement."
"Many features have been converted to commercial licensing, which restricts their availability."
"It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company."
"The initial setup could be a bit easier."
"Bacula needs a graphical user interface because, for administrators, the command-line interface is okay, but for the average user it is not very easy."
"A more user-friendly interface (GUI) can be developed."
"We would like to see an improvement in the functionality of the GUI."
"We are looking for a unique interface that can rule both enterprise and open source editions. Such a thing does not yet exist."
"The only thing I would suggest, and I have talked to my manager about it already, is that they should have a direct backup-to-cloud solution. It should be something that does not require me to do an image backup, and then individual file and folder backups, to be able to restore individual files."
"I would like to see more features for the section on the viruses and maybe another in reference to two-factor authentication."
"When you are ordering hardware appliances, they have to be delivered from America. In the past, hard drives on the appliance have been simple SSD drives that are installed. However, they don't have a local supply for the SSD drives in the UK. They have to be exported from the US, arrive, and then I have to go and install them. Then, they will rebuild it from their side of things. However, I could order that same SSD drive online and get it the next day. So, I have to wait days for things to come when I could get the exact same drive the next day in the UK, if I wanted to. That causes a bit of a problem. I don't know how many businesses they have in the UK, but I do think that having to import stuff from the US is a time-consuming problem. If there was a holding in the UK, then we wouldn't have that delay in time."
"I would like to be able to limit the bandwidth in cases, for example, where we are uploading the backup."
"There is room for improvement by making the interface a little more intuitive when navigating to recover flat files or an old server."
"They can always make the GUI a little bit nicer, the interface level a bit better. There's always room for improvement."
"When the product works, there is really nothing to fix, but they can allow different types of backups, such as differential or incremental backups."
"There could be some room for improvement in the on-premises hardware selection. It is hard for them to deploy a lot of different hardware options. Depending on footprint size and overall capabilities, that is where there could be some flexibility in some cases. However, it is not a deal-breaker."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have a perpetual license."
"This is an open-source solution."
"It is super competitive. It is worth taking a look at it from a licensing and pricing perspective."
"The licensing is based on how much data you have plus what appliances you need."
"The licensing structure was changed some time ago and it's a lot more efficient and the price points are a lot better. They're improving and heading in the right direction."
"The pricing is fair, and they are interested in working with MSPs as part of their market."
"I appreciate their pricing. We went for this solution for its pricing."
"Our licensing fees are billed every four months."
"The pricing is pretty good and competitive with the market. The per-terabyte pricing is very competitive compared to the others."
"Pricing of the product could be improved. It definitely makes it a harder sell. They will usually end up getting close to the price we need, but I have to go through everybody to get the price reduced. Their list pricing is significantly higher than that of other solutions."
