Identity workflows have transformed how we secure logins and manage user access daily
There are different elements to the best features Auth0 Platform offers, and I have touched on them, particularly the ability to help applications authenticate and authorize their users and manage their identities. A big point is identity federation, allowing connections across multiple identity providers, enabling users to log in using existing accounts due to databases and enterprise identity systems. A strong security feature is provided, particularly with their MFA, multi-factor authentication, which includes bot detection and brute-force protection, along with breached password detection, which is really good as an added extra. Auth0 Platform has positively impacted our organization, particularly in terms of usability. While we are not selling it directly, I find the platform easy to use for authenticating different users. Our own services team handles the implementation, so I cannot comment on the ease of that process. However, whenever we have had contracts and bids to roll out services, it has been really easy. We have seen improved security due to the implementation of Auth0 Platform. User management, such as creating and deleting users, is all about enhancing the user experience, which is massive. We assist with password resets and account linking. The time to implement is shorter, and we maintain a consistent user experience with a secure login flow, benefiting from a faster implementation due to the universal login, providing a hosted login page customizable by developers.

Improved user experience with seamless integration and easy installation
The feature that I mostly valued is the ease of installation on different systems, especially on Windows. Additionally, it is very beneficial for deploying single sign-on sessions between different windows on a web browser, provided I am connected to the right identity provider. That seamless integration significantly improves user experience and efficiency.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The measurable improvements I have seen in scalability, security, and velocity since implementing Auth0 are mostly that I don't have to worry about adding new features because a lot of features are available out of the box when it comes to identity-related features."
"I simply use the JWT from the client on the server side to process requests and push updated profile data to a database/queue as needed and end the process without having to persist data in the web server (sessions)."
"It is scalable, it is safe, and it has all the features that an organization needs or might need in the future, making it future-proof."
"The best features of Auth0 Platform are that it is easy to integrate and is cross-platform, as we use it with the Angular front end, the UWP application, and the iOS application, and it is really easy to integrate within the dashboard without any complications."
"Thanks to Auth0 Platform, we are ISO 27001 certified."
"It offers stronger security and flexibility with API keys, which are generated on runtime."
"After migrating to Auth0 from a custom authentication system, we noticed substantial improvements in developer productivity, auth-related implementations, and reduced login flow flaky tests."
"Okta is unique in offering comprehensive services including single sign-on, IGA, privileged access, and endpoint security, making it a worthwhile investment compared to deploying multiple vendors."
"It really improved the speed to market from account creation through provisioning and onboarding, and as users move from system to system, their account access follows them so you don't need to create new credentials every time."
"CA Single Sign-on has helped us a lot; the user only needs to use credentials once and then they can single sign-on into other websites which are already integrated into the CA Single Sign-on product."
"The solution is easy to use for our managers."
"Symantec Siteminder has simplified user access for our customers from user login to their web applications."
"It's more efficient; we're providing immense security to the applications, to Chase, and we're securing 70 million customers in Chase."
"The most valuable feature is the flexibility of this product to integrate with any third-party components and platforms."
"I really like the robust functionality that this solution offers, such as federation, OAuth, security, and multi-tenancy, just to name a few."
"For the most part, SSO is very stable."

Cons

"Pricing would be one thing that keeps pushing businesses away."
"If you’re not a developer, you need to spend time exploring more."
"Auth0 Platform works pretty well, but ways it can be improved include the universally cited complaint that the free tier is generous, but the jump to paid can be steep for a growing startup."
"In the past, there was an issue with the multi-tenant where there wasn't the ability to manage them."
"The tool's price should be improved."
"The initial setup was somewhat complex. Although documentation is available, it does not specify the exact format for multiple logout URLs or multi-tenant URLs, so sometimes I had to try different methods until it worked."
"Scalability is quite vast, but it does lead to higher pricing as usage increases."
"The reporting in Auth0 Platform could use improvement."
"Siteminder needs to improve its user experience."
"The maintenance cost has increased significantly, and we are concerned about this."
"As we are moving in to the mobility space, this is where we really see SiteMinder and their other product really come together to provide a solution base to a different area where the IoT is coming, the different business communications are happening. All of those things require authentication and we really want to see this product grow into that role."
"I would like to see more usability; more customer usability."
"The main thing is we do not have the traceability and good monitoring that CA can provide us to capture problems when they occur."
"The performance could be better. The support could be faster."
"If the reporting feature can be integrated into SSO itself that will be an icing on the cake."
"The technical support team is not very proactive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing of Auth0 is a pain point. Their pricing model is very confusing, at least for an enterprise. I don't like their pricing model. I think it's too aggressive. It's not very cheap for a service that only does authentication."
"There are different price levels: B2B, B2C, and enterprise. The basic plan is about $1,500 per month."
"It is a relatively inexpensive product in the industry."
"I am pretty happy with the pricing model of Auth0. It is very clear for me. Considering our scale, the features that we are using, and additional features that we bought, we still find it great. If you split the costs for the whole year and calculate the number of people you needed to hire, it always comes out to be much lesser than what we would have spent on building our own solution."
"The tool is cheaper compared to competing solutions. Those alternatives tended to be more expensive. Consequently, Okta purchased it because it was considerably cheaper. The solution even offered some free services while still providing excellent functionality."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"Symantec Siteminder is expensive; they could definitely do better on the price."
"The solution's pricing is competitive."
"Siteminder is a little costly. You pay for licensing, and they offer packages, so if you have less users, then you have to buy different products at different prices. If you have more of a user base, then the package is different. They also include other features—for example, if you have a database and you're using Siteminder, then it's good to use a Semantic-specific database, but if you are using less, then you have to purchase the database separately. Whereas if you are going for a bigger license, then it comes within the package. It depends on which plan you are using."
"The price is quite comparable to the other enterprise-level solutions in that market."
"I recommend conducting a PoC on every available product before choose one."
"CA solutions are generally expensive but for the customer the ROI is big."
"The licensing is fair for this solution."
