Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Everything will be handled by Akamai's system before it reaches our infrastructure.""The most valuable feature is the custom rules feature. This is because many of our customers require a lot of custom rules. Because it's a very customized project for our customers, I think they have the best of everything already.""Traffic filtering and WAF are valuable.""The product has a good user interface.""The most valuable feature is the DDoS protection, which is the main reason we got it.""The dashboard is the most interesting feature of the Akamai portal where you can have a detailed analysis of all the attacks that are happening. You can drill down an issue and see exactly what is happening, who are the bad guys attacking your website, and how Akamai is protecting the website. That is the most valuable feature.""The solution easily identifies, delays, or allows business traffic.""I like that the charges are all based on usage and labor costs. For the time that we spend onboarding almost 252020 FQDN, Akamai charges us only for the traffic usage, but it's only charging us for the labor costs for onboarding."

"There are a good signature set and a high rate of detection.""The initial setup was straightforward and we didn't have any problem with it.""Deep Security provides us with a lot of reassurance about security threats. You don't have to worry about a patch not being there in the software. You're confident that all the patches and vulnerabilities are taken care of.""It has a perfect SaaS which integrates with AWS, offering flexibility to deploy quickly and easily in the cloud.""The most valuable feature is the virtual patching.""For day-to-day efficiency, it provides a good dashboard, so our team can be active 24/7 instead of doing a lot of manual stuff. We just look at the dashboard, and it's all done.""There are compliance issues for legacy applications and after applying OS security patches. The product's HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) modules do the job for you automatically, without any downtime.""They release timely updates and have efficient prediction features for threat detection."

Cons
"The solution could offer even more integrations.""There are some issues with pushing configurations across a network. It still takes about 20 minutes and that means to retract it's another 20 minutes.""A lot of piracy happens in India and other countries. If there is a product for protection from piracy, it would be great. For example, there are multiple hackers that hack your event, and there are some channels that pirate and publish the event on some other website. We protect our streaming through DRM and different technologies. We are also protecting the website, but hacking is still happening. If they can work on protecting from piracy, it would be great.""The performance of the cloud monitoring tool is low.""They are already very flexible, but room for improvement is there. Reports generation could be better and should be improved.""It would be nice if Akamai Web Application Protector's price is lowered and made cheaper.""The custom rules must be improved.""In terms of precedence of Akamai rules, the last one is implemented. That is the one that is operational. If two rules contradict, the last one is implemented. We had a clash, but it was really tough to find that out. I would like to have a rulebook because, in their architecture documentation, it is not mentioned anywhere that if two rules clash, the last one works, and if it does not work, then what to do. This is something we were debating today with their tech support. With AWS, we get documents for the issues so that they do not occur in the future. Akamai's support and knowledge base needs to be improved."

"The product isn't very user-friendly.""The cost is very high.""I think more work could be done on Deep Security's ability to handle dynamic threat scenarios.""Trend Micro is not government certified or federal complaint. If they could become compliant/certified, this would make it easier for us to use it for our government projects.""The problem with this solution is that if you go on large sites you have to have an external database, which would increase the cost.""We'd like to see extended capacity in the on-premises versions.""The default reports provided don't provide much insight.""As for what could be improved, I think it should come with an XDR facility without any extra cost. They're always releasing new features, but we need to pay extra for them."

    Reviews from Real Users

Trend Micro Deep Security stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its robust data and loss prevention feature and its patch management, which saves users money. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

One PeerSpot reviewer, a Senior Security Advisor at a healthcare company, writes, “DLP, Data Loss Prevention, and the complexity of how we manage the console and how this client, or this tool, will notify us when there is something going wrong within the server and endpoint, is good.”

Nadeem S., CEO at Haniya Technologies, notes of the solution, “Patch management is most valuable. The major selling point of Deep Security is that it is based on the cloud. Deep Security is for the servers and databases of data centers, and generally, for patch management, you have to shut down the machines, and then you have to restart them. So, they need shutdown time, which is a cost.”
