What is our primary use case?
We use Pentaho Business Analytics primarily as an ETL process to extract data, transform them, and load them into our warehouse where we store data.
I have Pentaho Business Analytics deployed locally and also on the cloud.
Pentaho Business Analytics is scalable to a point. It is pretty scalable.
The process CI/CD is possible to implement, a real CI/CD process.
It is quite nice, but there is a glass roof.
Depending on the specificity or the difficulty that you have in the process that you want to implement, you should change the tool to another solution, a more elastic one.
What is most valuable?
From my service provider perspective, the best features of Pentaho Business Analytics are the possibility to put a real CI/CD process to have it more standardized with a better best practice approach.
Pentaho Business Analytics is the best value for money.
While improvements can be made in some areas, particularly with more cloud-based solutions, it is not in their domain because they do not want to be those kinds of providers.
Maybe they just need to avoid becoming obsolete because, for example, I use Talend as a tool, and the version of Talend was a business strategy to make obsolete some kinds of elements because they wanted to move to Talend Pro.
I am very satisfied with the tool.
What needs improvement?
From an integration perspective, Pentaho Business Analytics is not the best tool on the market.
There are things done by Apache that are better, though I am not the one implementing them, so this is based on what I have heard about novelties in the market.
I do not see the need to extend the coverage of Pentaho Business Analytics's domain.
For things that it does not do, there are better solutions on the market, and it would be costly to implement them.
Pentaho Business Analytics is a very great tool for very specific standardized scenarios.
If you need more complex elastic solutions because the process is different, there are better tools available.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been dealing with Pentaho Business Analytics for seven years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Pentaho Business Analytics is scalable to a point.

How are customer service and support?
I am satisfied with Hitachi's support for this product.
It is stable and working, so I do not see any difficulty in that area.
I would rate my satisfaction with tech support for Pentaho Business Analytics as a four out of ten.
It is not that I am dissatisfied.
I know there are limitations.
I prefer to solve issues by myself or with my own resources.
I never use their support because there is a lot of knowledge spread on their platform and the internet, which makes maintenance easy.
How would you rate customer service and support?
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Pentaho Business Analytics offers the best value for money.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?
From an integration perspective, Pentaho Business Analytics is not the best tool on the market.
There are things done by Apache that are better, though I am not the one implementing them.
Regarding integration capabilities, I do not think this is an edge value because in my expertise, it is not the strongest solution.
There are more easily integrated tools.
I use Pentaho Business Analytics because I have always used it, but other providers today on Snowflakes or other elements are better suited for more elaborated needs.
What other advice do I have?
I work in data integration and use other, more standardized Microsoft products.
I currently use the MS Fabric package solution.
I have customers that use AWS services and bare-metal servers.
I use storage and machines to provide ETL service with Pentaho Business Analytics installed on them.
As a service provider and product owner, I can say that Pentaho Business Analytics is cheaper than competitors.
When I have a customer that wants to have a real ETL tool in a standardized way with a real code written product, it is the cheapest.
When I make inquiries about other solutions, it is always 20-30% more expensive.
Pentaho Business Analytics requires some base knowledge for installation.
It requires a developer because it is not a friendly tool. However, there is a lot of knowledge available on the internet and many available developers on the market with competitive pricing.
It is not a low-code solution.
I have used better platforms that enable things with a low-code element. The threshold is quite high because if you have never worked with it, it is not the most friendly for juniors.
It is not SQL-based.
I have it deployed on AWS cloud and on bare-metal owned by the customer.
I do not see any performance issues with Pentaho Business Analytics.
I rate Pentaho Business Analytics as 8 out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
