What is our primary use case?
We use
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for high-intensity applications such as gaming, payment systems, and pharmaceutical applications. These applications, particularly those using
Oracle Database, work seamlessly on
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
How has it helped my organization?
The pricing benefit with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is significant, with services being more cost-effective than
AWS Cloud.
What is most valuable?
The services of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) are quite competent when compared to
AWS Cloud, and they are also lower in cost. We use compute, storage, and network services. A notable feature is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's consistent global pricing, which is advantageous. Furthermore, applications using
Oracle Database not only work seamlessly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) but also benefit from a 25% offset on Oracle Database licenses.
What needs improvement?
AWS services typically offer more flexibility to end users. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is evolving and incorporates changes over time, adding more flexibility. However, currently, some of its products are not as feature user-friendly as those of AWS. These improvements are in the pipeline for future updates.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for two years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
There are no issues with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's support for scalability demands. It offers instance shapes with flexible configurations, allowing selection of any required CPU configurations. It does not adhere to fixed T-shirt sizing like AWS.
How are customer service and support?
Oracle support is very friendly and provided free of cost. Unlike AWS, which charges for different levels of support, Oracle allows users to log as many requests as needed.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup depends on the pricing model selected. For pay-as-you-go or subscription models, Oracle offers engineering team support to assist with the initial setup. This process is quite efficient, with smaller workloads set up within two to three weeks.
What about the implementation team?
Oracle's own engineering team is available to work dedicatedly with customers for creating the initial setup.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services are competitively priced compared to AWS. For example, a 50% cost reduction compared to AWS was estimated.
What other advice do I have?
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's generative AI features, offered through a tie-up with Cohere, include AI services like text extraction, document understanding, voice recognition, and speech-to-text conversion. These features are being used for purposes such as KYC (Know Your Customer) by converting images to text. Overall, I would rate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as nine out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
