Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is used for virtual machines and Oracle databases. Oracle virtual machines on OCI are used for Oracle databases, Oracle Application Servers, and some third-party services that are installed on these virtual machines.

For networking solutions, the virtual machines are interconnected through network infrastructure in OCI. Subnets in OCI are used for organizing machines and virtual machines within the organization.

The most valuable features of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) include CPUs and storage. These virtual machines function as normal machines, but they are in OCI, connected in a network, and are used for applications.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) network solutions have been beneficial because Oracle has very good network management between machines. The network solutions work effectively with machines that are connected. Gigabit network speed is utilized based on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) infrastructure capabilities.

There are no restrictions about usage of these virtual machines because Linux machines are used, and everything needed is installed on our own responsibility, as all applications are developed by vendors who produce them for us. This is why there are no restrictions felt in usage of cloud services. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) offers good services, though the price could be lower than it currently is.

AI and machine learning features of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) have not been used in production, as research is being conducted in this area. Services provided to customers are very well tested, and untested services are not offered to customers. Currently, research is being conducted on the usage of AI offerings through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other vendors of AI tools.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has been used since January 2022, which is approximately four and a half years.

The reliability and stability of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is adequate. There have been only one or two moments in these four and a half years when Oracle Cloud had some issues, and there have been no recent issues.

Scalability is considered to be default. In some moments, there have been problems with the versions of Oracle databases, and upgrades of Oracle databases had to be managed. However, some complications were related to versions of applications that are installed in these databases, and this is not related to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

When problems with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) occurred, Oracle Support was used by submitting descriptions of the problem on the Oracle Support site. In some moments, problems were solved as soon as possible, but there were moments when waiting was necessary for the solution to be offered. There have been long waitings for Oracle Support to solve some problems, but these problems were not related directly with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). They were related to Oracle Application Server and some patching and CPUs for Oracle Application Servers, and solving these issues took an unacceptably long time.

Customers do not see the usage of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and they do not have access to Oracle Analytics services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), so it has no impact on the customers.

The setup of virtual machines and databases is pretty easy, with not many steps required. There are several steps to set up a virtual machine for a database, for example, but it is not complicated. The process involves multiple next, next, next dialogue boxes, and at the end, a submit or similar action is performed, and everything is done automatically. The algorithm is simple and not complicated. Understanding many terms and what every step means is necessary, but if the technology and this area are understood, it can be set up easily.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is used to provide services in the payment industry as a customer of this solution.

Some colleagues use cost management tools, but how they optimized expenses is not known, as the technical overview of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is limited to service usage. Some expenses are managed by colleagues, but it is not known how they or if they use cost management tools.

Some solutions exist on on-premise systems, and there is a connection between these on-premise systems and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) offers good integration of services between on-premise systems and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) systems.

In general, I have had a good experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), even though my current company uses other cloud providers such as AWS and Azure. With GoldenGate on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we find it works well, and because we use many Oracle technologies on-premise, it is simpler to access and use Oracle Exadata and other tools with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). I think Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a very good choice today to use and to recommend to other customers.

I have not used Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)'s AI and machine learning features in active projects, though I obtained certification in AI Vector and have attempted to use these technologies. There are other software teams that may be trying to use it, but as a database administrator, my responsibility does not currently involve active AI implementation. I have only laboratory experience with these features.

I would describe the advantages of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in facilitating large-scale migrations as something we usually do not use, even though I obtained a certification and understand how the tool works. What typically happens is that we perform an initial stream of the structure between source and target. Then with Oracle Data Pump, we may perform the streaming of the data. If we can use tools such as GoldenGate, we can perform a separate installation and keep the two databases synchronized between source and target. In another use case, if data changes are not frequent, we use other strategies, such as materialized view logs. We can perform an initial loading of the data and then align only the tables whose data is changing through the use of materialized view logs. We use different strategies for different use cases, but we do not use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) tools to perform this today.

I think that next year, we can start to use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)'s technologies for data analytics capabilities because we now work in the health sector. AI Vector can help us for our use cases to search and find information in tables. I believe we will use it as soon as possible.

In my previous company, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)'s cost management tools helped us create a map of the cost of the various objects and services. I think that is very useful.

I have not used Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)'s networking solutions today. I studied it somewhat, but it is not my main area currently.

We had some problems sometimes with Autonomous Database in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), for example, in the past months related to the asset of the metrics. We found problems related to what we wanted to show to the customer about the database because many metrics were missing. We usually worked together with members of Oracle Italia to ask them to introduce some metrics, for example, those that do not work correctly about CPU usage, memory usage, or network usage. There were some metrics in Oracle Autonomous Database in dedicated infrastructure that did not allow us to show correct information to the customer. We usually needed to ask Oracle Italia to introduce some metrics or clarify metric usage. In some cases, they showed incorrect data in the output, so we had to work with them to solve this problem. I am speaking about problems from approximately one year ago, so I do not know if they have fixed all of it now.

One problem I faced in the past with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) was also related to documentation. Sometimes there are differences between Oracle Autonomous Database usage on shared infrastructures compared to dedicated infrastructures. When searching for documentation, it is not clear if one aspect or solution is usable in both technologies or on both shared and dedicated infrastructures. I found some documents proposed for Autonomous Database and then discovered that the case was applicable only for shared infrastructure, not dedicated. Oracle Italia explained to me that Oracle Autonomous Database on shared and dedicated are different products. However, I do not understand why if I have the same version of Oracle in both architectures, I cannot have access to some tools or internal packages in both technologies. We usually had to ask them to introduce also in dedicated infrastructures the use of some Oracle PL/SQL packages, some internal packages, for example, for the management of queues.

Another aspect is that the storage of Oracle is not very user-friendly. In Autonomous, for example, where I think an autonomous database should manage storage correctly on its own, my experience is that often we have many allocated storage spaces that are free, but it is impossible to reclaim. We need to expand storage and pay for it, even though it is free. I think that regarding the internal management of storage, Oracle can improve.

Its Converged Database functionality is a single platform that supports different types of databases, enhancing developer productivity. It also provides options for refreshable and full clones, allowing us to create read-only databases for reporting or full copies of production databases.

Though Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has robust features, improvements could be made to its authentication and identity access management, specifically in making them more seamless without using fingerprints for authentication.

I have been using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure since 2018.

The solution has been stable overall. We have rarely encountered bugs, and Oracle's Platinum Support is highly responsive, offering prompt fixes.

Scalability is one of the strong suits of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). For instance, the scalability with ATP x9M allows it to scale up to 3968 vCPUs, which is three times higher than what AWS offers.

Oracle's Platinum Support is highly effective, providing quick and efficient responses to any issues we encounter.

Using OCI has proven cost-effective, with Kubernetes cluster costs at 0.015 cents per OCI part, supplemented by cost management tools that aid in budget control.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offers competitive pricing, often about 50% less expensive than other major cloud providers.

Our review included MongoDB in context to the JSON relational feature, and we did not need a separate license for MongoDB with OCI's data structure.

The main advice I offer is to evaluate OCI’s efficiency and features thoroughly before migrating to the cloud. Conduct a proof of concept to understand its functionalities, scalability, and performance in comparison to other major providers. Exploring OCI’s cost management features can also provide insights into budget control.

I'd rate the solution ten out of ten.

We use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for services similar to AWS and Azure. It is easy to integrate with Oracle's suite of applications, making it seamless for enterprises that rely on Oracle databases.

The key feature of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is its seamless integration with Oracle applications. This makes it a preferred choice for enterprise customers who rely on Oracle databases. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides a smooth experience while integrating Oracle data.

They could improve their global presence and marketing strategy to compete effectively with the likes of AWS. Additionally, their support team has a slow response time, which is not as great as other cloud providers.

I've been using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for seven years.

We prefer to go for AWS or Azure due to their established presence and support.

Generally, I would give Oracle Cloud Infrastructure a rating of six out of ten. I would recommend the solution to startups and middle-class customers due to its financial benefits.

We used Oracle Cloud for one of our clients who wanted to migrate all their AWS services to Oracle Cloud. It is sort of migration. We achieved everything in this particular project.

It's the same environment, the operating system. The disadvantage is not using AWS. So, it could be improved to be user-friendly.

We use small instances and OCI object storage. And load balancers, that kind of thing.

The security of Oracle Cloud is good. This product has good security features. It uses Web Application Firewall and other things, so it's good.

It could be improved on the user-friendly side. Our clients are still building, they are beginners now. So that's the thing. They are developing day by day. I think now they have given OCI simple storage space. 

I have worked on a project in our company with it. I started working with it a few months ago. So it's a fresh experience.

I didn't experience any issues with the stability. 

The support is very good. They are giving good support.

The support is a ten on ten because the support center is in Sri Lanka. So that is one advantage. They visit sites and give training. I think they give some free exams as well. I planned to take the exam, but at that time I had some other work. So, one of my junior guys took an exam. It was an administrative certification course.

In the AWS console, you can do everything. They provide solutions and documentation. Oracle also has good documentation, but it is not as easy to use as AWS.

One of our clients is a government company. They have a board, and they decided to move to Oracle Cloud. We tried to keep them on AWS, but they were not interested.

Database migration takes the same amount of time as with other clouds. But when we deploy something, it's different. In AWS, you can do everything within the console. They provide solutions and documentation. 

Oracle also has good documentation. But if we deploy an instance, it's not as easy to use as AWS. We have to go to the homepage, and it shows a lot of things. It is not easy. In AWS, we can easily go and deploy an instance. That's one example. 

In OCI, if I need something like a network card or VPC, it's more difficult than in AWS and Azure. I think they are maintaining different containers in a different way. If they are in different regions, I think I have to pick the Oracle region carefully. So that might be the cause of the difficulty.

It's very expensive compared to AWS. It's more than five percent, between five percent and ten percent. And it's not user-friendly as well.

Overall, I would rate it a six out of ten. Because AWS has so many features, if I compare it to AWS, I can give OCI a six out of ten. 

It is an okay product. 

We host one of our applications on Oracle Cloud Platform.

We wanted to host one of the applications for our global uses, so we posted it on the OCI platform. Since disaster recovery, we are looking for a solution where we can start small and can scale up whenever we need it.

Oracle Cloud Platform has good scalability.

The solution’s support could be improved. In the past, the solution's customer support team took a long time to solve a few of my technical issues.

The solution is deployed on-cloud in our organization. I would recommend Oracle Cloud Platform to users who have Oracle use cases.

We use Oracle Cloud to host the OIC (Oracle Integration Cloud Service) and APEX.

Nowadays, every SR is referred to Oracle Cloud Connect without a person actually handling the customer.

I have been using Oracle Cloud for four to five years.

Oracle Cloud is a pretty stable solution.

Oracle Cloud is a scalable product that allows us to upgrade the instance with a few clicks or configuration changes. Around 1,000 customers use Oracle Cloud in our organization, especially on the OIC and APEX.

Earlier, when we created an SR (Service Request), it used to be personally addressed by a person till closure. Nowadays, users are routed to Oracle Cloud Connect, a MetaLink where you find your documents. We are not seeing much personal attention from Oracle on addressing issues. People come up with different experiences and knowledge levels. There is no human guidance, and users are routed to Oracle Cloud Connect.

It is good for some people who know everything and can understand everything. However, our problem may not be exactly the same as the one given in Oracle Cloud Connect. Being routed to Oracle Cloud Connect is not a good experience with the customer.

Earlier, an SR used to be personally handled by a person who used to explain and give all the information. We used to go through the information, understand it, have our questions addressed, and then close it. That's how it used to happen. Nowadays, every SR is referred to Oracle Cloud Connect without a person actually handling the customer.

Installing or enabling the APEX is very easy and can be done with a few clicks on the Oracle Cloud.

Oracle Cloud is cheaper than other products.

Our company decided to go with Oracle Cloud rather than something else because of its cost benefits. I would recommend Oracle Cloud to other users. Oracle Cloud is a flexible solution that can be accessed from the end of the world. The product became cheap after becoming a SaaS model. It is easy for somebody new to learn to use Oracle Cloud.

I rate Oracle Cloud an eight out of ten.

I'm not a cloud engineer. I'm the head of the automation department. Given we are a small startup, everybody is a jack of all trades, and I need to know my way around the cloud a little bit as well. We work with computer instances, and we have some databases there.

We have some security groups and IP whitelisting so that we can run our automation for certain clients and do some VPNs. We don't have any product or application built on the solution. It just supports the process automation that we run.

The most valuable features of the solution are APEX, Threat Detector, and Cloud Guard. These features help secure our infrastructure from threats.

The AI capabilities and the power automate platform that Azure is offering seem to be way ahead of what Oracle is offering.

I have been using Oracle Cloud Platform for two years.

If we need to copy and paste workflows around and around, then the solution's scalability and maintainability are not very good. If we need to adjust something, we can't do it in just one place. We need to adjust it in all the workflows built for that use case.

I rate the solution a four out of ten for scalability.

We tried to contact Oracle technical support, but their response time was not very good, and I'm not sure if we ever resolved anything. We had an issue with the subscription, and the technical support team's response wasn't very prompt.

I compared Oracle Cloud Platform with other competitor providers like Azure, and I don't think Oracle is too expensive. Oracle is doing its best to stay below the market price. For example, the price for the compute instances, among other things, is better than its competition. Compared with what we paid when we were on the startup program, the solution's pricing is really high for a small startup company like us.

I played around with the Oracle Integration Cloud Platform and didn't really find my way to it. Other developers' experience with it was also clumsy. I haven't found a way to make dynamic connectors where we could have different payloads. We needed to create copies of already existing workflows if we wanted to use them for another client or use case. There was no way to have some sort of dynamic input parameter that would help us.

I would probably recommend Azure to other users because it's more intuitive. I think Oracle Cloud Platform is a better option for somebody who's been working with Oracle in the past. There are things in Oracle Cloud Platform that are better than in Azure. For example, the speed of deployment seems to work better in the Oracle Cloud Platform.

In Azure, our experience is that everything takes a while before the changes take place. Simple things like IP whitelisting and adding permissions take a while in Azure, whereas it's more instant in Oracle. For a new user, Oracle Cloud Platform is not as intuitive as Azure.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

In my company, we manage the integrations of our internal systems with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). We also use the product's interface for our company's employees, especially in areas related to finance, invoices, and other daily transactions, where we have to use the cloud services from either Cisco or Oracle.

The product has the monitoring tool developed by RedHat to take care of the end-to-end integrations where improvements are needed. The product's resilience is an area of concern where improvements are required. The HA capabilities of the solution have certain shortcomings, where improvements are required.

I have been using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for two years. Our company works as implementers of the solution.

Stability-wise, it is a very good solution.

The scalability feature of the product is very impressive, especially considering the fact that the tool offers its users a pay-as-you-go model.

The product's initial setup phase was easy because the Oracle Cloud is powerful in terms of its functionalities. When it comes to the setup phase, some of it can be managed by yourself, some with the help of the company's team, and then with the aid of Cloud Shell. In general, the setup phase of the product is easy. A user can choose a pay-as-you-go service. The tool's offerings are different from the on-premises infrastructure, right from the procurement to the setup, including the configuration and everything else, which takes a long time, but for PaaS products, the time taken for all the setup processes is much shorter.

The solution is deployed on the hybrid cloud. Some of the services need to be accessed with the help of our company's internet network only.

The solution can be deployed in a few weeks.

I rate the overall product a seven to eight out of ten.
