The primary use case is the protection of an internal network for one of my customers. It includes covering anti-malware and email scans. The email security is also performed through Daemon.
Bitdefender MDR enhances cybersecurity through AI-driven analytics, ransomware protection, and EDR capabilities, supporting compliance and ease of use across systems.

Bitdefender MDR offers comprehensive endpoint protection, featuring ransomware and zero-day threat defenses, AI analytics, and robust EDR capabilities. It integrates email and web security with GDPR compliance, providing automatic responses to minor incidents via a user-friendly interface. The cloud console and built-in VPN ensure scalability and efficient resource use without device slowdown. Users benefit from protection across multiple systems, though integration with tools like Outlook and mobile platforms could improve. Marketing and global recognition need enhancement, alongside intuitive management and pricing strategies.
What features define Bitdefender MDR?Companies in Greece and other regions use Bitdefender MDR within their ISO 27001 frameworks, focusing on endpoint security, network protection, and email scanning. Many businesses, especially those shifting from other solutions, integrate it for effective threat management and trial implementations in office environments.
Bitdefender MDR was previously known as Bitdefender Managed Detection and Response.

The primary use case is the protection of an internal network for one of my customers. It includes covering anti-malware and email scans. The email security is also performed through Daemon.
The most valuable features include email security and web URL scanning, particularly the link scanning aspect.
The solution's automatic response capabilities have so far only been used for minor incidents, such as someone clicking on an insecure link. It provides regular anti-spam email security measures.
Despite not having had serious incidents requiring automatic response, the current functionality is helpful.
One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI. It is not intuitive to manage policies as I have to go through several pages to find necessary information.
Additionally, the profile management for scanning and protection profiles is clumsy and could be more straightforward. There should be some simplification in changing profiles due to performance issues.
I have been using it for about four or five months.
I am experiencing minor performance issues with some applications, which require policy streamlining and additional exclusions. However, everything is working as expected so far.
Scalability is not a concern as I work with small businesses, and I do not anticipate scalability issues.
Customer service and support are very good. My account manager proactively works with me, and I have the possibility of attending webinars. I have regular meetings with them, and all the information has been very helpful.
Positive
I was previously using SentinelOne but not as an MDR solution due to license restrictions. I did not have VINOS licenses.
Currently, SentinelOne is used only as an EDR solution. I have switched to Bitdefender GravityZone because of these restrictions.
The initial setup is straightforward, especially since it is included in our software deployment tool. It requires minimal effort.
One engineer can manage the solution efficiently, provided it is set up to update automatically, which reduces the need for manual intervention.
It leverages about 30% of my time investment in security management for clients, providing significant time savings.
The product is on the lower price range compared to competitors. However, there are additional licenses for every add-on, which increases the cost gradually.
Despite this, it remains below average in pricing, providing better value than other products like Sophos and is price comparable to SentinelOne when combined with NinjaOne.
I would give the solution an eight. The solution is quite satisfactory except for some issues with the policy management. It is very effective in time savings, and the overall support is excellent.
The overall solution rating is nine out of ten.

We are working with Bitdefender as resellers and partners in Greece. We are constructing an ISO 27001 roadmap that includes Bitdefender for the security of our company.
Bitdefender provides a lot of information on the console and gives feedback. It is useful for deploying clients from the cloud and running them on computers, which helps us support our clients 24/7.
It has a very good cloud console that's easy to use and install. The main purpose of the software is to give you information for improvement and monitoring.
Bitdefender should improve integration with Outlook and mobile phones. The lack of integration with Microsoft Outlook is a significant drawback.
We have been involved with Bitdefender for about two years.
The latest versions do not have any problems, and the product updates itself easily.
The cloud console allows you to manage a large number of clients easily.
Bitdefender's support is adequate when needed, although we rarely rely on it due to our experienced team.
Positive
Microsoft Defender 365 is a competitor that has become more prevalent in the medium sector. However, we continue to use Bitdefender for its specialized security features.
The setup involves deploying a client from the cloud, which is very user-friendly.
We have six technicians in different customer support roles, all Microsoft and VMware certified. They rarely need support from Bitdefender.
From our point of view, we have a very good IPO as our technicians support many customers.
Pricing and licensing are satisfactory, with prices being considered okay.
Competing solutions like Eset are present in Greece. That said, Bitdefender is considered better right now.
The integration of AI in software should be approached with caution as it could be a dangerous future.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
I personally haven't had a customer on my watch who, after deploying the security solution, came back and told me they've had a breach.
Mostly focused on the customer's MDR, customers buy into these solutions because of budget. Bitdefender is priced well for people to get some MDR coverage. It might not be the ideal MDR they wanted, but it's an MDR, and they need it. It's a balancing act. It's always about what the customer is willing to spend and their budget limitations.
I like the EDR feature.
I went through their training and got the sales certification. I looked at it, and it didn't look any different than something like Falcon Complete or similar tools. These systems are set up to be point-and-click, toggle switches – that's the standard.
The challenging part is all the other work that needs to be done. When customers buy these solutions, there's an assessment done to scope their entire attack surface. Then, they'll come back to the customer and say, "Hey, your Active Directory is out of whack. Your policies in Office 365 are questionable.
Here are the critical issues we see that need to be addressed immediately. You also don't have any endpoint protection, or your current solution isn't strong enough." They'll highlight the issues to the customer, but they won't make specific product recommendations for the customer to buy.
Moreover, integration capabilities are not as rich as other tools like CrowdStrike's. Bitdefender wasn't as feature-rich in that aspect. There were some partners that we could use for easy integration, and Bitdefender could do custom integrations for the customer, but that typically comes at an additional cost.
Bitdefender's claim to fame is that their products are used by many other security companies. That's the main point I can lean on. Other vendors out there are much more feature-rich and user-friendly in terms of integrating with existing toolsets through their MDR portal.
An MDR is essentially a management tool for your other security tools, or it brings its own suite of tools to manage your security.
Falcon Complete offers more features. And one of their biggest advantages is their integration capabilities. The ease of integration with other tools is a huge plus.
I have about a year and a half of experience selling Bitdefender.
My experience is that if I have a customer looking for a robust MDR solution, and they have the budget, I consider CrowdStrike Falcon Complete. The sandbox should be included in the Falcon Complete menu of items.
Some customers might need a 24/7 SOC, but they don't have the budget for CrowdStrike or similar solutions. In those cases, I look at other vendors to see if I can help. I can recommend solutions as high-end as CrowdStrike or consider Bitdefender, for example.
Bitdefender has their MDR offering, but it really depends on the client's budget. Many clients need something like CrowdStrike but simply don't have the funds.
Just to paint the whole picture, SentinelOne often comes in with a high price point. SentinelOne isn't the cheapest for what they offer. CrowdStrike is definitely the most expensive in their category, but for good reason.
For example. I was talking to a VCISO who has extensive experience across the board. He told me that in every instance of a breach on his MDR, the customer wasn't using CrowdStrike. The solution brought in to remediate the situation and get the customer back up and running was always CrowdStrike. So, a lot of these 24/7 SOCs aren't doing a great job, and they rely on CrowdStrike to clean up situations where CrowdStrike wasn't there to protect in the first place.
That's not to say the same about SentinelOne. Many customers looking at XDR are considering the EDR capabilities. They might buy the SentinelOne XDR (which includes EDR) because they've revamped what they offer. They now compete with Sophos on the pricing level.
However, an XDR is not the same as an MDR. An XDR is like a SIEM, and the customer still needs other tools and someone monitoring their environment, conducting threat hunting, and handling remediation. The threat-hunting team usually doesn't do the remediation; it's another team entirely. If the IT environment has those two teams in place, they might not need CrowdStrike and could stick with the XDR from SentinelOne, which would be slightly cheaper. But even among XDR solutions, SentinelOne is on the higher end, even more expensive than Sophos.
It depends on the vendor you're working for. I've worked with different vendors over the past five years. My most recent vendor partnered with Bitdefender and Arctic Wolf, so those were my primary offerings unless the customer really didn't like those options.
Bitdefender fit well for customers with about 50 to 200 users. The price point is great, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. My previous company was a Bitdefender partner. My current company partners with a different 24/7 SOC solution provider.
When you set up an MDR, there's configuration work involved. They need to integrate with any other tools the client uses. The MDR doesn't have email security or other security layers, so you've got to work with them to enhance what you have internally. You might need to adjust your email security to be robust enough to work well with the MDR, or maybe update your Active Directory based on their best practices, and so on.
The point is, you'll still need someone internally who understands the process and can get the necessary information from Bitdefender.
Other SOCs or MDRs might have an internal account rep or manager who assists with that, working with customers for a few hours over a month or so, usually about one-hour sessions. This ensures the customer's infrastructure aligns with best practices for optimal MDR performance. But it's important to remember that none of these solutions are fail-safe.
It is cheaper compared to its competitors.
The customers I sold to had a very high renewal rate. When renewals came up, no one questioned the price or anything.
It was simply, "Hey, your renewal is coming up in 90 days, here's your quote."
30 days before the renewal, I'd circle back, and they'd often just say, "We're good, no changes needed, process it."
They were very comfortable with the service. There was only one customer that didn't think it worked well enough and ended up buying from a competitor. And it wasn't about pricing; they just felt ESET would be a better fit.
The interesting thing is that ESET (if I remember correctly) had a program where they'd allow the customer to buy and install it immediately, and it would be free until their current Bitdefender (or similar) contract expired.
It's like those offers where they say, "If your current MDR has six months left, we'll take over now, install our solution, and you won't be charged until your next billing cycle."
I saw a lot of that, especially where customers were focused on price and wanted to save money.
I've found is that true enterprise customers work well with SentinelOne and CrowdStrike. Enterprise is usually a thousand employees or more.
But when you get into my sweet spot, which is between 150 and 700 users, that's where budget becomes the biggest issue.
These customers often want the Rolls Royce but might have to settle for the Cadillac. You'll have that discussion a lot.
And oftentimes, during the initial evaluation, everyone's excited about CrowdStrike, but in the end, they'll go with Bitdefender because it's what fits their budget and addresses their needs.
A lot of times, it's their insurance underwriter telling them, "Get something in place, or you won't be insured." That's a big motivator.
I would recommend using it, but under specific circumstances. If I understood their situation and knew they had a security analyst or someone actively engaged in their security, I'd recommend it.
If I sense that budget is the primary constraint, with projects often not getting approved or delayed due to funding, then I wouldn't recommend Falcon Complete. I'd discuss Bitdefender as an option.
Overall, the customers using it had high satisfaction. Since I never had any pushback on renewals, I'd have to rate it an eight out of ten. I'm not a Bitdefender user myself, but the customers who did use it and were satisfied didn't argue when it came time for renewal.

The main reason my customers opted for MDR is the lack of personnel to manage EDR products. So, they sought MDR as a service for deep investigation of threats and incidents, requiring guidance and additional support. Hence, they invested in MDR as a solution.
Customers chose MDR for its enhanced visibility and automation capabilities. With the MDR portal and preapproval, actions can be performed efficiently, and the SOC team can assist and guide organizations in mitigating risks.
So, Bitdefender MDR improves our clients' cybersecurity posture against advanced threats in terms of more visibility and automation.
Moreover, Bitdefender MDR streamlined the incident response process.
The process is very smooth, focusing on threat identification and mitigation. MDR provides early warnings/visibility for potential incidents, capturing even the smallest details. The 24/7 SOC team monitors the portal diligently, ensuring no incident or event is missed.
Once onboarded, MDR continuously monitors all security feeds and incidents. The SOC team, upon detecting a security breach, notifies the customer through the portal for necessary approvals and actions. So, the 24/7 monitoring feature enhances security operations.
Moreover, Bitdefender MDR's integration capabilities have been smooth, leveraging cloud-based and various threat intelligence feeds. Bitdefender's array of technologies, including remote mapping and machine learning, with numerous patents, ensures effective threat management.
I like a combination of features. MDR, a combination of EDR and XDR, offers comprehensive visibility and control. It's not just one feature but the integration of various technologies that enhances detection capabilities.
Moreover, it's very user-friendly. I would rate it a nine out of ten for ease of use.
There is always room for improvement since security is an evolving field with new threats emerging. Bitdefender's approach is up to the mark and pretty decent, incorporating next-generation security features and technologies.
However, for improvements, focusing on the commercial viability of markets like India could make it more accessible.
The pricing structure, especially for price-sensitive markets like those in Asian countries. Making MDR services more competitively priced could encourage wider adoption.
Asian countries are very price-sensitive customers. They want to go for MDR service but without investing much. If the price is not aggressive, then definitely more people can board for MDR.
We have provided MDR to several of our customers. The experience has been very positive.
For about six months, we have provided it to a couple of our customers.
MDR is not very popular in India yet, but we have provided it to a few customers.
From our experience, it's quite stable. I would give it an eight out of ten.
We have a variety of customers, from government to education and BFSI sectors, as we are a country partner of Bitdefender. We focus mostly on small to medium businesses with up to 5,000 users. So, most of our customers fall into this category.
It's quite scalable; I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten.
The customer service and support could be a bit faster. There's room for improvement.
Neutral
I would rate my experience with the initial setup an eight out of ten, with ten being easy to set up.
Most use the public cloud, but some, especially in government where data localization is crucial, opt for on-prem. However, many are transitioning to cloud.
The deployment process, including training and onboarding, takes no more than a week. We also train our customers on how to use the solution, how to access the portal, and so on.
The pricing is a concern, especially for the Indian market. It's essential to offer commercially viable pricing to onboard more customers.
I highly recommend that those planning for EDR consider MDR as it provides high value and reduces the attack surface significantly. The solution also provides early warnings and can reduce up to 99.9% of threats.
Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

We use the tool as an antivirus solution and EDR.
A user cannot uninstall or disable the tool from their systems. It has ransomware blocking and zero-day threat protection. The tool also alerts us whenever a system or device has been compromised. It has a web control feature to manage website categories.
Bitdefender MDR consumes too many resources during scanning which further affects developers' productivity.
I have been working with the product for two years.
I would rate the solution's stability a ten out of ten.
I would rate the product's scalability a ten out of ten. We deployed the solution to 17 devices. We use the product 24/7 since it offers antivirus protection.
I am concerned with the support team's time. I think it is not aligned with my time. I get a response only at night. They answer my issues but the response gets delayed due to the time differences.
Positive
Bitdefender MDR is easy to set up and I would rate it a ten out of ten. The tool's installation takes half a day to complete. We have our MDM. We create a script and push it to install the solution. You need only an admin to deploy the product.
We did the tool's deployment in-house.
The solution is worth its money.
I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten.
I would rate the product a ten out of ten.
I'm communicating with the local team in the Philippines, and I just installed the solution on my endpoint devices. I'm on a trial run of the product.
The idea is to protect our endpoint devices in the office.
We are in the process of trying the solution to see if it fits our needs.
Overall, I was impressed with the product and decided to try it. So far, it has been good.
They do offer a free trial of 30 days. It will give us a sense of the capabilities.
It's easy to use.
You can use it to cover Android phones. Other options do not offer this.
There is an automatic backup in the case of malware attacks.
Monitoring from the cloud makes it very easy to see what is going on.
The automatic backup isn't very big.
The service for the product is only handled by the local supplier instead of the main company.
Its customization maybe could be a bit better. I need to explore it a bit more, however.
I've only just started using it. I started using it a couple of days ago.
So far, the solution is stable. I'd rate the solution's stability eight out of ten. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.
The solution is scalable. I'd rate it eight out of ten in terms of the ability to scale. The price is not too much. I have yet to actually experiment with scaling.
I have 120 end users and have installed four devices.
We have access to local support via a local partner. I've only dealt with the local team. They have been helpful and responsive.
Positive
I did not previously use a different solution.
I have just implemented the solution. I set it up just yesterday and am still experimenting with it.
The installation is a bit complex as I am on the trial version, and I have to authenticate every time. However, it installed quickly. It only took a couple of minutes.
I handled the installation myself. I did not need outside assistance. I have a local supplier here that gave me the free trial.
I've not seen the pricing just yet. I have not explored the licensing. My understanding, however, is that it is not that costly. It may be about $1,000 for one device for a yearly subscription. I understand that to be fair in comparison to what is on the market.
I'm also looking into Sophos. However, it is a bit pricey.
I'm an end user and a new customer. I'm doing a trial right now and I'm using the latest version of the solution.
So far, I would recommend the solution to others.
I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

I used it for my client for endpoint security.
We were predominantly focused on endpoint security. We actually sold a couple of licenses, and I bought 500 licenses for my customers. They used it for about three years, and then the corporate policy switched vendors. And they moved out.
Compliance is a very important factor, and Bitdefender scores well in these areas.
I look at it from a cybersecurity, compliance, and protection point of view. Bitdefender scores well in these areas.
Bitdefender needs to probably position this product and create more awareness among people because a lot of companies use products like CrowdStrike, which is doing pretty well out here.
It's just that the marketing team probably has to get involved, get better distributors, and conduct some roadshows.
Updates are fine, but the distributors or partners have to put in a good word because the product is good. They have to sell it to your clients. And with so many competitive products today, customers are confused.
I have experience with this product. I used it for a decade. I started with this product back in the early 2000s.
I would rate the stability a nine out of ten.
The last customer that I sold to had about 500 licenses. So, it is scalable.
I never had any problems as far as support is concerned. I only took some support at the initial installation because it was installed on a VM. The distributors out here in India were supportive as well.
Initially, when I suggested Bitdefender, they evaluated the product and were quite happy to use it for three years before switching. That's my client.
I would rate my experience with the initial setup a nine out of ten, with ten being easy. It's very straightforward. I didn't face any issues with the integration.
About the implementation, it's the management. If somebody wants to install, reinstall, or configure, all of these are fairly straightforward. So, I don't have anything against Bitdefender. It was predominantly sold to most of my clients.
My clients have their corporate policies about which products they should be using. So some of them have shifted out.
Some of them might still be using and renewing it online.
As far as pricing is concerned, I would rate them not expensive, not cheap. So, it could absolutely be improved.
It's not a very heavy application, and it doesn't slow down the endpoints. Also, there is also the VPN option if you want to make some financial transactions.
Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.
There are a lot of features. I've demoed and piloted a lot of it through some of the programs and partnerships that I have set up with Bitdefender themselves. The reporting and the analytics are very important to me, but not everybody is going to have the same answer. Some people don't really care about reports or analytics. They just want it to protect them.
A lot of the AI that is running in the background that deals with the response on different detections is important, and the learning from the labs themselves is also very important. That's where they set themselves apart from others. A lot of the other products that are out there on the market probably have a lot more bells and whistles, but they are not necessarily directed at the heart of what MDR should do, at least in my opinion. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and in my opinion, if you're getting back to the basics and doing what its true intention is, they've done a very good job in comparison to others.
In general, just with the way the market is, MDR solutions are mainly for those IT teams that are very lean, and there is not a whole lot. It greatly assists in detecting and responding but in more of a managed setup so that your eye isn't caught doing something else, and something is happening behind your back. So, the intention is there, and it's a very strong solution. It works really well.
They're doing a really good job. The throughput and the response time can always be better, but there's already a solution out there. It depends on how much and what tier you want to be a part of. The way they're designed is that if you pay for it, you can have a turnaround time in a very short amount of time. If you don't pay for it, your response time is going to be a little bit less. That can always be improved, no matter what tier you're on. It could be in terms of tech support, or it could also be things like getting the reports and getting the summary back from the labs. When something is detected, what did it all entail? There are a lot of those things. It's not all in one, but all of those are different branches.
Another thing is the ability to reach out directly to somebody. If you pay for a very specific account representative, you do have a number you can call, and they can check from the inside for you, but for those that don't have the ability or the finances to have that license, opening up just for support and the ability to get in touch with somebody is always something that can be worked on.
I have been working with it for four to six months. I have piloted it and test piloted a few other things with it.
I know it is based on the volume and size and also on different multi-year agreements. There are different discounts applied, but I can't really speak about the specifics.
You can have Bitdefender themselves for management. They do offer several different options to have a hybrid setup, where the management is at the client's site, and they have the power to manage and decide what they want to do with different things it detects. They can also offload the majority of it or a certain stack of alerts to a managed provider.
I would rate it a solid eight out of ten. That's a pretty high mark. I've been around them and their engineers in the lab for a long time. I know what they're doing. I know where they're headed. Everything is pointing up for them. Their biggest drawback has been the part of the globe that they operate from, but they are expanding very significantly year after year. They are growing very healthily on the personal and the enterprise side, and they're stretching around the world more. That's only going to help them, but as it sits right now, if you were to go to Gartner or some other outside entity that provides feedback or surveys, they have always been middle of the road. They are always held back from other people in the US or North America. A lot of that has to do with where Gartner is located as well, but they are catching up. There will always be people who come out of nowhere and jump right to the top, but they don't sustain that or they don't last long. From what I have seen and from my research, they have stayed very stable and grown into many segments. They've always stayed stable. They have never gone away. So, they're a very solid provider.

We primarily use the solution to protect our endpoints.
It's light on the endpoints and it complies with the latest European GDPR, the global data protection laws. The best part is it never slows down the endpoint. Most of the other antivirus engines, they're very heavy on the endpoints, so they consume a lot of memory.
It's got better blocking for portable storage devices and a better engine for ransomware.
It's got a built-in VPN, in case you are doing any banking or online transactions. If you're looking at an enterprise with centralized control, you can actually push the policies to all your clients' endpoints easily across VPNs.
The main thing I like about it is it's got all the features I need.
The resolution runs in the background while offering very good protection and good reporting with a lot of good controls.
It works on virtual machines too.
The solution scales well.
It has a very quick, very simple initial setup process.
There is a lot of very helpful documentation available.
We need more updates as there are always more threats coming.
The product is highly scalable. It expands very easily.
My largest client is about 1000 users. Most of our clients have an average number of endpoints ranging between 250 to 350.
Technical support is pretty good. They respond. You also have a lot of self-paced documents available, which means you can actually fix problems yourself. In the event it's very complicated, you can reach out to them. They have a call center and you can always raise a ticket on that.
Neutral
Probably ten years ago, I was using Trend Micro. In between, I tried Kaspersky, and then I switched over to BitDefender
I like their implementation. All we need to do is just install the VM and everything is built-in, so it takes care of the implementation. You don't have to go for multiple installations. I never faced any problem. It's very fast. We handled about 500 users and we implemented it in just under two hours.
You only need one person to handle the deployment process.
The solution offers yearly subscriptions.
They gave me the option for a yearly renewal or three-year renewals, and three years works out to be very, very economical. Their updates come out three or four times a week for the main server. The updates install automatically so that you are always up to date.
We keep changing, we keep evaluating. As a system integrator, my job is to evaluate all the products, as that's what makes us more comfortable selling to our end users.
We have used both cloud and on-premises deployments.
I would rate the product a nine out of ten.
