Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Efficient email security and link scanning streamline network protection
One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI. It is not intuitive to manage policies as I have to go through several pages to find necessary information. Additionally, the profile management for scanning and protection profiles is clumsy and could be more straightforward. There should be some simplification in changing profiles due to performance issues.

Advanced threat detection capabilities with comprehensive incident response features providing robust cybersecurity for organizations
The initial aspect concerns two engines. The first one mentioned is available for searching behaviors directly. The second engine involves the Google Ade tool, which operates on the machine. The challenge arises when attempting to rectify protection rules, causing confusion. It would be beneficial to enhance Rigixs Query. I encounter difficulty removing certain entries in behavior or alerts; likewise, I am unable to add specific calls.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has pretty much everything we need and works well within the Palo Alto ecosystem."
"The tool is designed to scale for large enterprises and handle large volumes of data."
"What I like about Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is that it is a comprehensive solution that contains everything the organization may need when using endpoints."
"It has absolutely improved the way our organization functions, we are more secure, it is giving us more peace of mind, and it has found malicious activity happening on our endpoints that probably would not have been detected if we didn't have it."
"Its ability to react to cyber data attacks is awesome."
"It blocks malicious files, prevents attacks, and doesn't require many updates because it is a very light application."
"Their XDR agent and their behavioral indicators of compromise (BIOC) are pretty nice. Their managed threat hunting is also pretty nice. They also have WildFire, which is a service for actively looking for malware. It's quite useful."
"Threat identification and detection are the most valuable features of this solution."
"The main thing I like about it is it's got all the features I need."
"It's easy to use."
"A lot of the AI that is running in the background that deals with the response on different detections is important, and the learning from the labs themselves is also very important. That's where they set themselves apart from others. A lot of the other products that are out there on the market probably have a lot more bells and whistles, but they are not necessarily directed at the heart of what MDR should do, at least in my opinion. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and in my opinion, if you're getting back to the basics and doing what its true intention is, they've done a very good job in comparison to others."
"It has a very good cloud console that's easy to use and install."
"I would rate the stability a nine out of ten."
"A user cannot uninstall or disable the tool from their systems. It has ransomware blocking and zero-day threat protection. The tool also alerts us whenever a system or device has been compromised. It has a web control feature to manage website categories."
"If you're looking at an enterprise with centralized control, you can actually push the policies to all your clients' endpoints easily across VPNs."
"We find it extremely effective. We probably have over 500 endpoints, and we have not had any reports of viruses since we have installed it. It is very reliable."
"It has a rating system now so you can rate things up or down, depending on your environment. This means alerting can be customized, yet still pick up anomalies."
"After rack and stack, devices were up and running base configurations within two hours. As with any IPS, tuning is required to stop false positives. This is no different, but the ease of use of the interface allowed my team to start making adjustments within a few hours."
"It is used as our primary in-line IDS/IPS system, replacing FireEye NX, and it catches more, looks at more ports than FireEye NX, and is a scalable appliance, unlike our NX which was saturated and shut itself down."
"The solution is pretty scalable; you buy a lot of features, a known product, and you want it to run in any environment, and it does, so it's scalable enough."
"It ensures the stability of network behavior across various aspects of our network and offers responsive capabilities to address incidents promptly"
"It has also improved our hunt ability with quick search tools, to zone in on malware or other anomalies. It is able to link items to incidents from other consoles, and works natively with the SIEM."
"There are many valuable features. The NDR gives very good network visibility, and the endpoint module has a great feature called "Live Connect" for remote connections. They also have "Tasks" that can be run on endpoints to gather specific information or retrieve logs."
"The technical support is very helpful."

Cons

"I would like to see them include NDR (Network Detection Response). Then it would work well with SIEM Response."
"If you compare it to SentinelOne, which has more functionalities and detection capabilities on an open platform, the pricing on SentinelOne is far more reasonable and cheaper than Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks."
"To jump from the partner to Palo Alto directly was challenging."
"The main issue I could point out is the offline agents and the way that it is missing."
"It's very time-consuming to log support issues and the people that answer the tickets aren't very knowledgeable."
"The setup is quite easy. We had appropriate support from the manager. One thing that was missing was the integration part."
"The dashboard could use some significant improvement, just making it more useful with more information. It has a limited amount of information right now. It is customizable, but I'd love to see a better out-of-box dashboard."
"Being able to filter the events to see those that are related to the actual alert would save time spent by the engineer."
"They can improve their support a little bit. We've had some issues with some of the installations in terms of getting the installation, configuration, and flows correct, and sometimes, their support is not as simple and easy to deal with as we'd like."
"The lack of integration with Microsoft Outlook is a significant drawback."
"One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI."
"We need more updates as there are always more threats coming."
"Bitdefender MDR consumes too many resources during scanning which further affects developers' productivity."
"The automatic backup isn't very big."
"Integration capabilities are not as rich as other tools like CrowdStrike's. Bitdefender wasn't as feature-rich in that aspect."
"The throughput and the response time can always be better, but there's already a solution out there."
"We position the solution as an antivirus, but this part of the solution needs improvement. They need to generally enhance the features that they have, rather than adding anything new."
"Configuration, in terms of building the collector and communicating with endpoints, is complex."
"There is room for improvement in email security. It's a security issue. If you're aiming for XDR, covering the entire threat landscape is crucial."
"I encounter difficulty removing certain entries in behavior or alerts; likewise, I am unable to add specific calls."
"The interface bug needs to be squashed once and for all."
"The reports in the endpoint area of Elevate can be improved."
"The interface bug needs to be squashed once and for all. This has been the predominant issue with an otherwise stellar product. It reboots itself unscheduled, about once a month, due to a memory buffer flaw in the interface."
"Fidelis Endpoint is an expensive product making it one of its shortcomings that needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR is an expensive solution."
"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"It has reasonable pricing for the use cases it provides to the company."
"The pricing is a little high. It is per user per year."
"The price of the product is not very economical."
"The cost of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is $55 to $90 USD per endpoint per month."
"We pay about $50,000 USD per year for a bundle that includes Cortex XDR."
"It is present, but when compared to other competitive products, I would say it is not less expensive; however, when all of the other added values are considered, the price is reasonable."
"I know it is based on the volume and size and also on different multi-year agreements. There are different discounts applied, but I can't really speak about the specifics."
"I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
"It varies based on the number of licenses."
"Bitdefender fit well for customers with about 50 to 200 users. The price point is great, and you get a lot of bang for your buck."
"As far as pricing is concerned, I would rate them not expensive, not cheap."
"It's quite expensive but we can customize it to reduce the price."
"Fidelis Endpoint is an expensive product. My company makes yearly payments toward the licensing cost of the solution."
"It's somehow expensive. From one to ten, I would rate it a five. They need to improve the prices. It's very high."
"You license by the number of days of logs you need to maintain visibility for. Forty-five days is a good solid number for a company with around a 10k user base."
