| Author info | Rating | Review Summary |
|---|---|---|
| Senior Network Security Engineer at Vibs | 3.5 | I found Fortinet FortiMail Cloud useful for features like QR detection and some advanced, though basic, DLP. However, it needs improvement in CDR content profiles, anti-spam features, and file import capabilities for better efficiency. |
| Consultant for the Chairman at Financial Literacy Knowledge Hub | 3.5 | I've used Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for three years and find its email classification and encryption features valuable, though it occasionally misclassifies. It's stable, scalable, easy to set up, and has delivered a good return on investment. |
| Director at a tech services company with 11-50 employees | 3.5 | We chose Fortinet FortiMail Cloud to enhance our email security due to its seamless integration with our existing Fortinet firewall. Although endpoint security could improve, it effectively reduced phishing incidents, delivering a satisfactory return on investment. |
| Owner at wct it-solutions GmbH | 4.0 | I work with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for email security, implementing it for clients focusing on security and email protection. Its central management and email filters are effective, but the product could improve in flexibility to better adapt to different environments. |
| Senior Network and Security Engineer at Symbol Technologies PLC | 4.0 | I provide FortiMail for customers needing email security because it keeps emails safe and integrates well with third-party servers. However, it could benefit from more advanced AI features to analyze various traffic types thoroughly. |
| Cyber Security Engineer at a financial services firm with 501-1,000 employees | 3.5 | I use FortiMail primarily for email security, focusing on spam and malware detection. Its quarantine feature is invaluable. While it's effective, integration of AI could enhance it further. I also complement it with Forcepoint DLP in specific cases. |
| Network Security Engineer at Pronet | 4.0 | We implemented FortiMail Cloud for enhanced email security, valuing its content disarming, analysis, and impersonation detection features. However, we faced challenges with email search efficiency and found the system complex, needing improvements in user-friendliness and intuitive access to features. |
| IT Project Manager at Brilliant telecommunications | 3.0 | I use Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for its phishing, virus, spoofing, and spam detection capabilities. However, it lacks AI features, making it outdated compared to competitors like Barracuda and TitanHQ. We initially chose it over others for its cost-effectiveness. |
| Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Net Consulting | 4.5 | I find Fortinet FortiMail Cloud valuable for its ability to set up rules and monitor suspicious items. However, its UI is cluttered, making menu navigation challenging and confusing. Improvements in interface simplicity could enhance the overall experience. |
| Corporate IT Manager at PRopex Furnishing Solutions | 4.0 | I use Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for Office 365, valuing its stable spam and virus scanners. My main issue is not seeing gateway feedback. Setup took four months, but I recommend this solution overall, rating it 9/10. |
There are some useful detections, such as QR detection. I have also seen some logs issues in Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, and some new security profiles. There are also some advanced features in DLP, though they have basic DLP, not the advanced version.
They can improve their CDR content profile and some anti-spam features.
They don't have any direct script to run to add personalization, and we have to do it manually one by one. There are many tasks which we have to complete individually. We can't import files into the Fortinet FortiMail Cloud sensors. That's a drawback, as they need to provide a feature to import files. We can make the format, but we cannot import the file into Fortinet FortiMail Cloud.
Additionally, in Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, not in FortiSandbox, they need to improve the block and allow list functionality to block URLs and allow specific types of URLs or regex.
I have used Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for two to three years.
Technical support by Fortinet is adequate but not exceptional. I cannot say they give the best support, but it's fine. I didn't receive a root cause analysis, not even a single time, for any issues.
Neutral
Cost-wise, it's a bit expensive, but it's totally worth it.
I will recommend Fortinet FortiMail Cloud to others. On a scale of one to ten, this solution receives a rating of 7.5.
I have experience working with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud as a mail gateway, not a firewall, and we have been using it for about three or four years.
I have worked with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for three years.
The best features of Fortinet FortiMail Cloud are the classification of email and spam helper functionality.
We are making a mix between human interaction and the cloud for the device itself. We are using pre-configured control on the device itself, and for the cloud, for the automatic notifications of classification.
I have used the identity-based email encryption feature and we are using the mail encryption feature. We are not delivering the email until the user confirms that they know the sender; it remains encrypted until after confirmation that the email is safe.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud has had a positive effect on our organization since we can classify each email coming to our organization. We can identify false positives, spam emails, and other classifications for each email coming to our organization.
The improvement in Fortinet FortiMail Cloud can be made regarding the classification process itself because it has some false positives.
I have worked with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for three years.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is a stable solution, though it needs a restart approximately once per year.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is a scalable solution since we can implement many boxes.
I would rate technical support from Fortinet an eight out of ten, as I open many cases and receive good response from support.
Positive
Before using Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, we were using a McAfee box.
I did not use McAfee simultaneously with Fortinet; I used McAfee before Fortinet.
The initial setup of Fortinet FortiMail Cloud was very easy for me.
My relationship with Fortinet is that we are a customer. Mantrac, the agent in Egypt, implemented the device itself.
I have seen ROI from this tool. The investment in Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is fine because it has a very good return on investment value.
The price of Fortinet FortiMail Cloud in Egypt is very competitive against other products, including the setup cost and licensing of this solution.
This review has a rating of 7 out of 10.

Our use case is to protect our existing secure email. We were having a lot of problems with phishing from third-party solutions. That is why we were looking for a solution that would provide additional security.
Our use case was basically that we were already using a Fortinet firewall, and it was easy for us to adopt a Fortinet Cloud solution, considering we would have a secret console through which we can manage it. Management was one of the key factors. The return on investment for us was achieved since we did not have similar incidents again in our environment. Fortinet is also good at providing security beyond our email solution assets. That is why we opted to go with it.
There are definitely features that Fortinet should work on. I'm not the right person to implement those features. For a portable cloud solution, a customer has more affinity towards a solution where endpoint security is already in place. In endpoint security, they are not at the latest quadrant.
That is why a customer with existing endpoint security solutions like Trend Micro might prefer a main security solution from that vendor. If we go for FortiMail Cloud and have a separate endpoint security solution, there are two agents that have to sit on a customer endpoint.
From that perspective, Fortinet policies add an extra load to the endpoint. Maybe other solutions have an advantage when it comes to Fortinet.
We have been with Cloud alongside a couple of customers. As far as Fortinet is concerned, we've been a partner for almost nine years now.
It is quite stable. There are no problems for customers we have implemented it for, so I would give it a high stability rating of nine out of ten.
I would say it is scalable. It is highly scalable, so I can give it a ten out of ten on that.
Good. As far as Fortinet secure support, I will rate them nine out of ten. They are good in support.
Positive
It's easy to configure and take on the AppFront, so there is no problem.
Return on investment in the time is difficult to quantify, however, the return on investment for us was achieved since we did not have similar incidents again in our environment. That is the ROI. Otherwise, it's very difficult to calculate an ROI for Fortinet.
The pricing is optimum. Basically, Fortinet is known to be a good vendor in terms of price performance. From that perspective, they are decent in pricing. They are not cheap, however, they are not very expensive either. Customers would normally opt for it.
For service for any customer to try and look at, I would recommend Fortinet 100%. I already have a rating of seven out of ten. We looked at other solutions also. There are some things that can be improved, so they need to work on that.
Neutral

For customers who need an email security solution, I provide Fortimail. I handle the implementation based on their subscription needs, and I am involved in the installation process.
Fortinet and other software ensure that my company's email remains safe, helping to avoid access issues at some cost in production. One of the most beautiful benefits is its integration, as it can seamlessly integrate with any third-party email servers. This level of compatibility makes it a suitable choice for organizations looking to secure their email systems.
Fortimail Cloud should include more advanced AI features that can analyze every traffic type.
I have been using Fortinet email solutions, including Fortimail, for five to six months, not more than that.
I would rate its stability as eight out of ten.
I would rate its scalability as eight out of ten.
I would rate the technical support from Fortinet as ten out of ten.
Positive
Before starting the installation, I prepare documentation. It takes about three to five days to fully implement and migrate.
The implementation involves more than six engineers. I have three engineers involved in troubleshooting and maintenance.
The price is relatively expensive. The cost depends on the subscription type and the licenses needed.
In general, I would rate Fortimail Cloud as eight out of ten.
I primarily use FortiMail for email security, checking emails for spam, malware, and analyzing content for threats.
The quarantine feature of FortiMail is the most valuable, as it quarantines emails based on my policies. I can manually check and release them, which is a wonderful feature.
Additionally, FortiMail's integration with other Fortinet solutions enhances the security part of the organization.
There are no specific new features I would suggest at this moment. FortiMail needs to develop further, particularly in integrating AI features, to keep up with rapidly advancing technology.
I have been using it for more than three years.
I have never encountered any stability issues or technical errors with FortiMail.
Fortinet's support is really good. I can contact them directly and have been satisfied with the service.
Positive
On a scale of one to ten, I rate the overall solution at seven.
FortiMail needs to develop itself further, especially in AI integration. Once AI features are fully implemented and developed, I anticipate a nine out of ten in the future.

We implemented FortiMail from Fortinet to enhance email security and protect our organization's personnel, particularly departments like HR and finance, who are often targeted by email attacks.
Content disarming and analysis are essential features in our email security setup. If an incoming email contains anything suspicious, such as malicious code, phishing materials, or potentially harmful content, FortiMail will first detect and neutralize the threats within the email before delivering it to the recipient. This ensures that the email is safe and poses no risk to the end user, providing peace of mind. Content analysis is another critical aspect. It involves scanning emails for elements like embedded images, links to suspicious websites, or any content that violates our security policies. Lastly, the impersonation detection feature is equally important. It helps identify cases where someone is trying to impersonate another person, such as a board of directors member or a key figure within the organization, in an attempt to send deceptive emails.
During our deployment and in our day-to-day operations, we've encountered certain challenges with our email security setup. When a user or administrator needs to locate a specific email, it can be a time-sensitive issue. If an email administrator receives a query from a recipient or end user about undelivered or suspicious emails, the ability to quickly and easily locate the email in question, along with details about why it wasn't sent, is crucial. We've faced difficulties in ensuring that our reporting system is efficient and delivers this information promptly for administrators to address the issue promptly. Another challenge we've experienced is complexity. The email security solution should ideally be user-friendly and intuitive and it should offer straightforward access to settings and features. We encountered situations where our users have found the tool overly complex and difficult to learn quickly. This ease of use and user-friendliness is something we believe could be improved in FortiMail.
I have been using it for two and a half years.
Overall, FortiMail is a stable email security solution, but I did encounter a specific issue in the past. There was an instance when the appliance became inaccessible. This issue seemed related to the appliance's durability, as it entered a conserve mode due to performance concerns. Consequently, email traffic ceased to flow through the appliance during that time. To mitigate this problem, we increased the threshold for email traffic, ensuring that the appliance would not enter conserve mode and that emails would be delivered reliably even during peak loads.
While VM-based deployments offer scalability, hardware appliances have limited scalability due to their fixed resources. Your choice should align with your organization's present and future needs, as well as the flexibility you require to adapt to changing circumstances. It is important to note that scalability can also be influenced by subscription licenses. The type of licenses you've acquired may dictate what your system can handle, including the kinds of emails it can process and the CPU utilization allowed.
During our deployments and while providing support, we often rely on Fortinet's technical support engineers. They have consistently demonstrated responsiveness and cooperation whenever we've needed assistance. When we open a support ticket, they promptly join the session and engage with us to perform troubleshooting steps. Their approach is commendable: first, they make a genuine effort to understand the issue and attempt to resolve it remotely, based on the provided logs and information. If, however, the issue persists, they take the initiative to set up an online remote session. During these sessions, they work closely with our team, engaging in debugging and various troubleshooting steps to pinpoint and resolve the problem. Once they've successfully resolved the issue, they provide us with a detailed breakdown of the case. This not only ensures the problem is resolved but also educates our team. We gain valuable insights into the problem-solving process and learn what to check first in case a similar issue arises. Fortinet's support is available around the clock, 24/7, and I'm highly satisfied with the quality and effectiveness of their support services.
Positive
The initial setup process is straightforward and manageable. It is essential to grasp the network topology of the organization. Understanding the flow of incoming and outgoing email traffic is crucial. Once you've identified these paths, you can proceed to establish policies, rules, and profiles that align with this topology. This early stage ensures clarity in terms of what constitutes inbound and outbound email, and what specific settings need to be configured.
While the initial setup primarily involves configuring interfaces, defining main profiles, and establishing policy rules, as the deployment matures and additional security measures like Azure Security, Trend Micro, SCF, CCIM, and NNX tool records come into play, the complexity may increase. Managing multiple domains and email servers requires careful segregation and configuration, which can be more intricate. I work as a third-party service provider for ProNet, a company based in Pakistan. We are proud partners of Fortinet, and our services extend to numerous clients in both the public and private sectors. In my role, I take on the responsibility of deploying various Fortinet products on behalf of the company.
The pricing depends on various factors, including the type of licenses and subscriptions you have procured. The cost structure can vary for small and medium-sized enterprises as opposed to larger organizations. The pricing model takes into account the flexibility required by different organizations, based on how they intend to use the product. It's essential to consult with the sales team or a technical representative to get accurate and up-to-date information regarding pricing, licensing options, and any specific cost-related queries.
There are several compelling reasons why FortiMail is an excellent product. It is highly reliable, offering effective spam and email filtering, content analysis, and antivirus protection. The product's integration with FortiGuard, a comprehensive security database, means that it benefits from the latest threat intelligence and zero-day protections. It allows for extensive customization. You can tailor your security profiles and settings according to your specific needs, ensuring that your organization's email security is precisely configured. If you're already familiar with other Fortinet products like FortiGate (firewalls and web security), you'll appreciate that FortiMail shares a similar user interface. This consistency ensures a seamless experience for Fortinet users, making it user-friendly and efficient. The quality of support is a critical factor when deploying a security solution. FortiMail's support is known for being responsive, effective, and reliable. This support is essential for addressing any issues or glitches and ensures that your email security remains robust. Overall, I would rate it eight out of ten.

I use Fortinet FortiMail Cloud since it is a great tool.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is a good tool in terms of detection of phishing, viruses, email spoofing, and spam. With Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, lately, I have seen that the product is not updated, but when I started with the tool initially, it used to be good, or it used to be one of the best tools. Lately, Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is not updated during a time when threats are becoming more and more advanced.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud doesn't have AI features, making it an outdated tool for me. Compared with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, the top products in the market are its counterparts like Barracuda, TitanHQ, or Libraesva ESG. Fortinet FortiMail Cloud needs to catch up with its competitors in the market, especially in terms of features related to AI. Everything in Fortinet FortiMail is more analog and manual work instead of being automated.
I have been using Fortinet FortiMail Cloud for five years. My company has a partnership with Fortinet.
I don't remember if I faced any downtimes when using Fortinet FortiMail Cloud.
When I started off with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, I could say that it is a scalable tool that is good. Presently, Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is losing out in terms of the scalability options it offers, as it has become outdated.
The solution's technical support and online forum are very good and helpful if you struggle with something related to the product. I rate the technical support a seven out of ten.
Neutral
In the past, I have used Mail Assure.
Though Mail Assure was an upcoming tool in the market, it was a bit complex compared to Fortinet FortiMail Cloud. Mail Assure was trying out a lot of different things in the past. There were a lot of faults in the system developed by Mail Assure, which made it a very complex product for our company, and later, we ended up choosing Fortinet FortiMail Cloud.
The product's initial setup is straightforward and simple, making it an easy-to-use tool.
The solution is deployed with the cloud services offered by AWS.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud's installation phase was easy and did not take more than a day to complete.
I rate the price of Fortinet FortiMail Cloud a five on a one to ten scale, where one is the low price, and ten is the high price. It is an averagely priced product.
Barracuda and TitanHQ were some products my company had evaluated in the past, but we chose Fortinet FortiMail Cloud over others since Fortinet was available at a comparatively better price.
When I started off with Fortinet FortiMail Cloud, it was a good product. As time passed by, I noticed that Fortinet FortiMail Cloud did not keep up with the latest threats related to phishing emails, malicious URLs, and TCAM failures. Fortinet FortiMail Cloud currently needs to offer a bit of AI functionality and make a bit of improvement for those users who look for the solutions available as per the latest trend, especially from a security point of view.
I rate the overall tool a six out of ten.

I am impressed with the tool's ability to setup rules and destinations. It also helps to monitor suspicious items.
The tool's UI can be simple since it's cluttered now and you can't understand where you are going. It's not obvious to find out the menus or things that you are looking to find.
I have been using the tool for five to six months.
The product is stable and I would rate it a ten out of ten.
The tool is scalable as it allowed us to add/remove users. We had about a few hundred people using the tool.
The solution's setup was easy and it took us three to four weeks to complete the deployment.
I would rate the product a nine out of ten since it does what we want it to do.

We are using Fortinet FortiMail on the Fortinet Cloud as well as for Office 365.
The scanners with FortiMail are valuable. We chose this solution because of the spam and virus scanners.
We are currently in gateway mode. If a user is identified as mail, not spam or spam, I can't see the feedback to the FortiMail gateway.
I have been using Fortinet FortiMail Cloud since 2021.
This solution is stable. Currently we have four people managing FortiMail. This includes one IT person in the U.S. and three in Hungary. They watch and fine-tune the solution.
We currently have not had experience with customer service and support. With our process, we filter with our experience. If we have a solution that we can solve, we will do that. If not, we will open a ticket. We have not had to do this yet.
We just migrated users to Office 365 before implementing Fortinet FortiMail. Prior to this, we used the on-premise exchange servers. On these servers, we had Sophos Mail and GFI Mail Secretary Essentials.
Deployment of Fortinet FortiMail took four months. We had a consultant, a Fortinet expert to assist us.
We are now in production of the solution to ensure our policies are correct and we can ensure it is safely implemented. The first month, we blocked everything and watched to ensure it was running correctly.
Return on investment is difficult to calculate. It's complicated to explain why we are using extra licenses over and above Office 365. I see how manageable and flexible the licenses are.
I would suggest this solution to anyone looking to implement it in their organization.
Fortinet FortiMail Cloud is a nine out of ten overall.
