Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"A simple and stable solution for small businesses that use virtualization.""One of the most valuable features is the incremental backup. It is, of course, perfect because you have a lot of restore points, but you don't need all the space. The stability is also perfect.""Very user-friendly and easily recoverable.""The backup and replication features are most valuable.""This product is user-friendly. The interface is easy to use.""Very reliable and easy to use.""The most valuable feature is the instant recovery.""One of the standout features of Veeam Backup & Replication is its exceptional restore capability, enabling users to recover their data seamlessly. Another valuable functionality is the automated verification of backup restorations, made possible through the Sure Backup feature. The software boasts numerous other noteworthy features that offer immense value, including the NAS backup feature."

"Valuable features for us are the VDI, UCC, and HCI.""The tool's price is competitive and it is easy to use.""We like the design and that it meets data storage needs.""We are very happy with the purchase, and it works well. It is fast. We went with the full-flash version, meaning that we have SSDs. So, we can build a Windows virtual machine in two minutes. We were surprised when we first tried to do that.""The solution is really stable.""Enterprise is a complete solution that includes performance, backups and disaster recovery.""The major advantage is the blueprint. You do not need to separately manage the sand or network part because it all gets virtualized.""The ease of deployment and management of the solution are the most valuable aspects of the product."

Cons
"They need to improve their technical side.""I would like a solution for SAP systems to be included.""The user interface needs to be improved. It could be simpler to use.""I would like them to move back to host licensing.""The solution could improve by having a version to be compatible with the Linux system. They have improved the storage depository using the Linux proxy and Linux storage, but it can completely run on the Linux environment it would be much better.""All our customers would like a cheaper license and more flexible deployment.""The tech support could be better.""The ease of use could be improved, but I don't have a very deep amount of experience in Veeam, so it's difficult to say what could be improved."

More Veeam Backup & Replication Cons →

"The configurations of VxRail can be difficult. However, it has improved in the newer version. From version 6 to 7, there has been a lot of changes.""Integration could be improved.""if we're looking at costs, Nutanix will win because it allows flexibility in the type of hardware you can use.""You cannot install another operating system such as Microsoft or Hyperflex or Nutanix. We have also had a hardware problem.""Dell wants to implement the disaster site in the new year, but they haven't decided yet. I hope we will have the opportunity to sell VxRail with this disaster site. It is not really clear at the moment, but hopefully, we will get some good news from the customers in the new year.""VxRail should try to improve the pricing.""This solution needs to have the capability where even older versions of hardware can be seamlessly utilized and additional expansion becomes so much easier.""We have some issues, but they are possibly out-of-the-box issues. There was a host that was dead on arrival, and there were some file issues on other hosts. We're currently working actively with Dell to resolve all these issues. Once they are resolved, the product should be stable."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We use the community edition of the Veeam Backup Replication and it is a software-based license. It can be a little expensive."
  • "Several licensing schemes are available."
  • "The solution is expensive, but it's value for money."
  • "We try to use perpetual licensing, and there are no additional costs. They have recently moved to universal licensing, which is more expensive, and I would like them to go back to host licensing."
  • "We are on an annual license for Veeam Backup Replication. We could expand or upgrade the license for the Office365 features. Next year we might go to a three-year plan for support on license."
  • "The cost should be adressed."
  • "The pricing is on the higher side, so I think they have to think about the price. It's a stable product and there was no requirement to keep in touch with the support team, so the renewal license was too expensive."
  • "I don't have an issue with the price of Veeam Backup Replication."
  • More Veeam Backup & Replication Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Price is a bit of a challenge, particularly if you want extra features or higher performance."
  • "It varies. It could be $100,000 at the smaller end and millions and millions of dollars at the higher end."
  • "More cost-effective than Nutanix."
  • "VxRail is an expensive solution."
  • "Fees vary by license type."
  • "The license is a bundle with the hardware. It comes with the license and five-year support."
  • "VxRail is expensive because it's based on VMware and V-SAN. The price is not the cheapest. The technical support is expensive, but it is a good service."
  • "When compared with others, the price is very reasonable."

    Reviews from Real Users

Veeam Backup & Replication is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are its ease of set up, the fact that it is agentless, and that it has an intuitive dashboard.

A Network Operations Manager at an educational organization says, "Integration with VMware is excellent with very granular recovery."

An Inside Solutions Architect at a tech services company mentions, “I like that it's agent-less, easy to set up, and hardware-agnostic.”

An Account Manager at a tech services company states, “The dashboard is very, very easy to understand. We do demonstrations all the time with customers just to show them. If they've lost particular files because of a server going down, we can retrieve those files for them and quickly bring those files back up.”

Kerem C., Director of Professional Services/Senior Solution Architect/Trainer at a tech services company, explains, “It's good for backup performance management and backup window management.”

    Reviews from Real Users

VxRail is an all-in-one solution: "You don't have to worry too much about the hardware and you don't have to work on integrating a storage device. We instead have this as an all-in-one solution and everything is available as a box."

VxRail is remarkable: “The cover points feature in VxRail is remarkable. It's unique. It has an intervention failover system as well as an automatic failover system, reaching clusters existing in VxRail…

VxRail is a powerful performer: “...VxRail delivers a very high number of IOPS for a hybrid configuration or an all-flash configuration. The processors that are available in the Xeon family are very powerful. They are multi-core with typically 2 gigahertz, 2.4 gigahertz, or higher frequency, so the performance is very much appreciated.”
