Though a secure tool for building applications, there is a need to improve its stability
There is a lot of room for improvement in Temenos Quantum. Temenos Quantum is not quite stable yet. Improvements can be made to make Temenos Quantum stable. Improvements are needed in the solution, considering how my company needs to raise a lot of tickets with the technical support team of Temenos for some basic issues every time. There are some features in Temenos Quantum that I want to be stabilized by Temenos, just like in Android Studio and Xcode. Building an application using Temenos Quantum is not difficult, but my company needs to seek some support for the solution all the time.

Facilitates UI development with XAML, enabling shared UI code across platforms and reducing platform-specific work
I like its simplicity. As someone who didn't start my career as a dedicated developer, I was used to building websites or Windows applications. Transitioning to mobile app development meant learning new languages like Swift or Java. With C# and Xamarin, though, I could leverage my existing skillset. Xamarin, and specifically Xamarin.Forms, let me write my code once and deploy it natively to both Android and iOS. Xamarin.Forms are very useful. Essentially, it's a framework that allows me to create the UI mostly in XAML. This XAML code is then translated into the native UI elements for each respective platform. The advantage is that roughly 90% of my UI code can be shared. This significantly reduces the amount of platform-specific UI work compared to having to write separate UIs for each platform. For the most part, Xamarin's integration with Visual Studio improved the workflow, whether I'm on Windows or Mac. Since I'm familiar with Visual Studio, it provides a comfortable development environment. Additionally, features like Hot Reload and the integration of tools like Copilot help streamline the development process. Overall, it offers a positive development experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"You can do rapid development across multiple platforms."
"With the new VM releases, it is a faster product with more abilities that benefit the user."
"I like the complete, professional social site."
"The most valuable features of Temenos Quantum are user-friendliness and customizability."
"We can use a single channel to create an interface for iOS, Android, and other channels."
"The best feature is the Kony Studio, which is the product that is used to develop interfaces."
"It is an important solution for reducing the development efforts by developing a mobile application efficiently, in a shorter period of time, across multiple platforms, such as Android and iOS."
"The most valuable feature is usability. You can develop components inside it and reuse them in different parts of your application, wherever needed. You can replicate them. There's also a Quantum Fabric on the back end, which provides a middle layer between your database and the third-party systems you need to integrate. It also provides the integration to handle all sorts of exceptions and timeouts on the Fabric. This makes it easy to troubleshoot errors coming from third-party APIs."
"The ability to share a platform-agnostic common core, or business logic, enables a mobile developer to write code for all targeted mobile platforms, independent of the individual developer's specialization in iOS, Android, or Windows. This helps not only during development but also enables easier maintenance of deployed apps, since bug fixes or feature additions can be often made in the platform-agnostic layer."
"It has significantly reduced the skill barrier for development and testers."
"The Xamarin platform can reduce overhead significantly through code-share and reuse. The typical team size for a Xamarin project is significantly reduced compared to purely native projects."
"Plugins like MvvmCross make a developer’s life easy."
"Their leadership is exceptional at both listening to the customer base and delivering innovative, best-in-class products."
"The technical support is very good and it's close to native."
"My favorite feature of Xamarin platform is the Xamarin.Essentials package. I also like the changes seen in Xamarin's upgrade from Xamarin.Forms to .NET MAUI, because in the older Xamarin Platform, Xamarin.Forms gave you multiple libraries of a particular level for a single platform, whereas .NET MAUI comprises a single, organized library that contains everything needed for both Android and iOS."
"Xamarin Platform's best features are its single codebase, the support from Microsoft, and the free libraries."

Cons

"They need to improve their tech support's abilities. They do have a good tech support, but it still requires improvement."
"It would be highly beneficial if future iterations of Temenos could incorporate support for QR-based payment methods, as it would enhance the platform's capabilities and align it more closely with modern payment trends"
"We would like to have widgets for graphs and analytics, as well as the integration of machine learning."
"When developing our application, we also encountered certain issues related to delays and time-consuming builds."
"The security and the interface technology could be better in Temenos Quantum. Additionally, a module that can display all the activities that have been done in the system would be helpful."
"There is definitely room for improvement, especially in the areas of AI, AR, and DR for mobile and web applications"
"The technology of the solution needs an update. It is deficient in terms of connectivity."
"Temenos Quantum needs to improve its usability. It lacks information on the network. We have to contact the support when we are stuck with something."
"The monitoring of the remote devices is not good as it should be extended along. It would be useful if the log is more integrated with the central console. I am not sure it can be accessed but it would be better."
"The Xamarin.Forms could improve."
"Xamarin Platform is missing the code renderer."
"It needs offline sync capabilities to store data on devices persistently."
"The recent move to .NET MAUI is a big change that's affecting a lot of the good features."
"The worst build issue concerns are the caching process MSBuild uses to reduce the build time."
"Xamarin's profiling tools are only available for the highest tier of MSDN subscription and compatibility with platform-native profiling tools is rather lacking. This causes friction when working on performance-related issues."
"For those who use only XAML to design the UI, it would be better if there was a better XAML previewer or designer."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an expensive solution, and it is the biggest challenge that we face when we present this platform to customers."
"The product is expensive. First, they must purchase the product, and then pay an annual renewal fee. The renewal fee depends on the product details and the license term’s length. Clients can buy licenses for five or ten years and pay for them upfront, or they can set up a yearly renewal cycle."
"It is expensive solution."
"The price is too high. The annual cost for the Kony license is very high. Every year you have to renew it in order to maintain it"
"Temenos Quantum is an expensive tool. Taking into consideration my company's use of Temenos Quantum for a bank, the costs attached to the solution ranged from 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 USD for building one application for the bank."
"In most cases, it is sufficient to have free/community license. But if you plan to seriously develop production-level, highly polished apps, you need to use Xamarin.Profiler and the professional or enterprise license."
"Xamarin is free. There is no license unless you go for some high-end enterprise features. Other than that, everything's free."
"The product is inexpensive."
"Xamarin Platform is open-source, but there are fees for deployment, the API Store and Play Store, and using third-party libraries."
"Xamarin is free, or comes with Visual Studio. Therefore, it is very profitable."
"Xamarin Platform is a free open-source solution."
"It saved a lot of time and resources needed to develop a cross platform mobile app."
"Xamarin Platform is open-source, so it is free to use."
