We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The reporting of the solution is very good.""The sum solution, NTA, and DPA.""Some of the most valuable features of SolarWinds are the topology discovery and network performance analysis.""Technical support is always live and they're supportive.""The product has a great dashboard.""I have found the most valuable feature is application performance management."

"The data collection from our VMs, containers, databases, and backend components is valuable.""The ability to create custom dashboards is one of the best features and that's typically why most people deploy Splunk. Users can create dashboards for just about anything.""The features I have found most valuable are log searching and log analytics, both of which are quick features.""It is very easy to monitor multiple cloud environments. It's like a single pane of glass for us. We can use it to monitor our on-prem and both of our cloud environments as opposed to having different tools for each environment. It makes it all come together in one tool.""The feature I find most valuable, is the data integration.""The most valuable feature is log reporting.""The solution's most valuable aspect is its ability to get information about all of the security measurements in my environment.""Great monitoring of network devices."

Cons
"In terms of the technology, I think they need to put some more advanced troubleshooting into SolarWinds, in terms of AI capabilities. That's the next generation, especially in the cases of APIs which have already adopted AI capabilities into their products.""The integration with Unix services should be a bit more straightforward.""I would like to see more integration with other tools that are available on the market.""The implementation needs improvement. It needs to get modernized with the newer cloud scenario in both public and private deployment models.""AppOptics would benefit from having a much more centralized view.""The solution should be more user-friendly."

More SolarWinds AppOptics Cons →

"I would like to see an improvement and some innovation in the customer interface.""We still use Splunk Enterprise licensing. A lot of the newer features go into Splunk Cloud before Enterprise. We're not looking to switch our licensing over, so we're falling behind on the newer features.""The solution's stability is an area that has room for improvement. It needs to provide constant stability to its users.""Splunk would be better if some tools were integrated to be able to take action on security or network concerns.""The solution should have more sensors regarding fiber intelligence for security measures.""It does not have a user-friendly interface and it is difficult to use.""This solution is difficult to configure and the instructions are complex.""A lot of customers had a hard time effectively searching within the data in Splunk. There is a learning curve from searches to indexes and using all the macros that we have created. It is a little difficult for somebody who has not used it quite a bit and does not have a lot of practice with it, but the AI features that we have been hearing about through Splunk will make it a lot easier for us to use human language to search this data. That is big. That is pretty powerful, and that will help a lot with our customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Mostly, it's a perpetual license. We don't have any customers using the subscription right now—it's mostly a perpetual license that the customers purchase. The licensing is based on the number of elements, whereas other solutions are node-based."
  • "I believe the current licensing cost is reasonable."
  • "Since it's a negotiable rate, I would rate the pricing as a five out of five."

  • "The product is a bit expensive considering the competition but the company may negotiate the price."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "The solution's pricing is competitive. I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten. The price of the solution could be cheaper."
  • "Splunk has been fairly expensive, but it has been predictable."
  • "I would rate the price of Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring as an eight out of ten, with ten being the most expensive."
  • "I am not in that circle, but we are currently licensing based on our queries. That is working out for us. Previously, it was by volume of data, and now, we can store as much data as we want."
  • "It is expensive."
