Real-time dashboards have improved our deployment monitoring and incident response
We are using Opsview ourselves, rather than being a consultant or a reseller. We do not use its auto-discovery feature. We do not utilize its API driven architecture. I do not know what metrics we use to assess the effectiveness of Opsview's hybrid IT monitoring. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Opsview as it is good for what it does. I do not know if Grafana has any other advantages besides better stats, as I am not involved in that side. Based on my experience, I would still recommend Opsview to others as it is good for what it does. I gave this review a rating of 8.

We can set up a dashboard to monitor the status of an entire site, which provides more insight into any issues across devices
One engineer is enough for the solution's maintenance. There has been a significant improvement in Statseeker in the last few versions. It includes a wallet map and features we plan to implement when deploying the latest or penultimate versions across all our sites. This will significantly assist in identifying sites surpassing thresholds or KPIs, making issue detection much more accessible. The threshold feature is handy for identifying delays and major outages. This graphical map enables us to quickly assess the scope of nationwide problems, allowing for swift action and efficient reporting to management and service providers. This tool facilitates monitoring by visualizing all network elements with their respective coordinates, highlighting any downtimes or issues through color-coded green for operational, orange for approaching thresholds, yellow for minor alarms, and red for critical issues. The tool is a monitoring tool that helps in identifying problems. It is necessary to have someone trained to set up the dashboards because they might require some programming or specific configuration skills. Once it's configured, it works well. It's not as straightforward as other tools where you plug in the device, and everything works. With Statseeker, you still need to put in some effort to set up your dashboard properly. It requires someone with good training and proficiency in setting up these dashboards. They can benefit the technical and operations teams, providing useful insights into the network and the executive management team to receive reports on the overall network health. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We now have a single view for all systems monitored within our IT estate, while we previously had three different systems (each configured differently)."
"Excellent customer support from Cerner."
"The dashboards are the real value add for this product in my opinion and enhance customer experience if done properly."
"Over the past three years, we've grown by about 200%, and the system has been able to manage that growth."
"Opsview, though not the least expensive Nagios-based commercial monitoring product offers excellent value for performance which rivals expensive commercial products from the major IT vendors; it is well worth the money paid for it."
"Customer service is great; always responsive, within minutes at times."
"The fully-extensible event handling has enabled us to reduce on-call incidents by more than 90%."
"I like its scalability thanks to slaves, as you can add as many as you want, which also allows you to reach and monitor devices running on the network that are not accessible by the master."
"The most important feature for us is the interface statistics, because our customer normally asks us for bandwidth utilization reports. Statseeker has very descriptive transmit and receive information."
"It catches frequent flapping of the network and provides detailed reports of outages."
"I believe Statseeker has reduced the complexity of our network monitoring, providing real-time alerts and on-demand graphs that improve our network availability."
"The monitoring provided by this solution helps us to track down and solve issues."
"This solution helps in terms of troubleshooting, and you can do capacity planning with it."
"The stability of this solution is great compared to other solutions, such as SolarWinds, and Statseeker is one step further."
"We are now able to easily track where problems are with bandwidth and port errors, rather than having to do a lot of diagnostics."
"This solution provides us with a quicker response in troubleshooting."

Cons

"Pricing and a few certain aspects in the solution needs to be improved."
"We have had some stability issues, but that is largely because we're using an unsupported database."
"SNMP traps management to be improved."
"We are starting to hit the limits of how we can scale out."
"Some of the graphics on Opsview could be improved."
"Customized reporting can be improved."
"Often the webpage becomes inaccessible and you need to refresh the page."
"Sometimes Opsview has crashed, but the multiple master/slave solution provides consistent uptime for monitoring."
"The interface could be more user-friendly and it would be nice if there were enhanced options for reporting."
"I’ve seen two Statseeker techs work several hours to fix it."
"I would like to see NetFlow improved, with better reporting capabilities that are similar to Scrutinizer."
"Some of their basic licensing model is a bit of a ripoff."
"We would like to see improvements in reporting and multiple-user integration."
"It would be nice if they had twenty-four-hour technical support because we contact Australia and we have to wait for them to open."
"I would like to see a friendlier user interface in the administration tool."
"The interface for this solution is terrible and can be improved in literally any way."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not cheap. I think that the pricing is a little bit on the high side."
"I would rate pricing a seven out of ten, where ten is the highest price."
"The solution is priced similarly to other tools offering similar features."
"This tool would probably be priced well if it had deeper NetFlow capabilities, but for our use case, in particular, we're only recovering ports after ninety days and looking at circuit congestion, it's pretty pricey."
"Compared to other solutions such as Zabbix and AKiPS, this solution is very well priced."
"The licensing cost is yearly and it's $5,000 to $8,000, I think."
"It would definitely be a yearly licensing cost, but I don't know what it is."
"Up until we actually talked to Statseeker, and Statseeker came and gave us an enterprise licensing model for multiple accounts, I would have said the pricing was not good value. The fact they've come to the party now and given us a very good discount, I would say it's probably about right, the pricing they're giving us now. But the retail pricing, if I went out and, as a separate company, and asked for pricing for one account, I probably would say their retail pricing is not competitive. The fact that they've given us a discount now because we have multiple servers across multiple accounts, I would say that pricing is about right, but not their retail pricing. It's too expensive."
"The yearly cost varies as per the number of devices being monitored. The cost for 25,000 devices is about $4500."
"Pricing is reasonable but licensing should unlimited."
"We now feel the pricing is a good value. Previously we had a just a normal license but now we've got an Enterprise license. Since the Enterprise, it's been a lot better value. We did think it was pretty expensive before, but with the Enterprise license it's almost less than half that price. If you have a number of accounts within the organization that use Statseeker, I would suggest get the Enterprise license."
