Room For Improvement

Enhance parent/child logic, dashboard customization, and support while improving interface, permissions, and container monitoring for user satisfaction.
Users want better integration, modern UI, improved network monitoring, cloud support, and user-friendly navigation in Splunk AppDynamics.
I wish the user interface would be customizable to allow users to create personal context-specific workspaces to hide irrelevant data, rather than trying to have a one-size-fits-all interface.
IT Infrastructure Engineer at Ethical Trade SErvices Africa
The container monitoring seems to be really behind compared to some bespoke cloud-native monitoring solutions that are designed around Kubernetes, containers, and ephemeral environments.
Sr. Systems Engineer at a financial services firm with 201-500 employees
One thing Dynatrace had that I enjoyed was real-time support chat available to reach someone and get help in real-time.
Observability Engineer at Universal Music Group
Splunk AppDynamics does not support the complete MELT framework, which includes metrics, events, logging, and tracing for the entire stack.
Senior Principal, Enterprise Architect at a computer software company with 201-500 employees
If AppDynamics could develop a means to monitor without an agent, it could significantly improve application performance and reduce potential problems.

A good integration with Splunk would be very interesting, as Splunk is a good product for logs, and that part is currently missing in Splunk AppDynamics.
Director of Technical Part at NOS SGPS

Setup Cost

LogicMonitor provides competitive pricing with good value for features, though cloud licensing and large environments may pose challenges.
Enterprise buyers should consider AppDynamics' complex pricing and value for monitoring, despite it being more expensive than alternatives.
I experienced no issues with pricing, setup cost, and licensing; it was very transparent, and the licensing model is very clear and easy to understand.
Technical Lead: Enterprise Monitoring at a retailer with 10,001+ employees
We completed a three-year deal for Splunk and for AppDynamics, which costs millions of dollars.
Development Operations Engineer at a retailer with 10,001+ employees
Customers have to pay a premium price, however, they receive considerable value from the product.

Valuable Features

LogicMonitor offers customizable dashboards, robust alerting, and integrations to enhance efficiency, proactive issue detection, and decision-making.
AppDynamics provides comprehensive monitoring and diagnostics tools for optimizing application performance and enhancing infrastructure visibility.
The dynamic alerting and root cause analysis have helped us fix issues before they cause a full-blown outage or degrade performance for end users.
IT Infrastructure Engineer at Ethical Trade SErvices Africa
Our SLAs and SLOs were averaging about 10 to 15 failed SLAs and SLOs that were over the time allotted to get those resolved, and those are now down to about two to three per week.

This is the best feature because, although you can't monitor a whole application at once, Splunk AppDynamics gives you the option that if there is any failure—simple failure regarding anything set up as per our use cases—you will get an alert.

Has reduced false positives and enabled real-time insights during global events
LogicMonitor could improve their support system. One thing Dynatrace had that I enjoyed was real-time support chat available to reach someone and get help in real-time. With LogicMonitor, that is not really an option. We have to set up an email or reach out to support and try to set up an ad hoc call, which cannot be done in real-time when time is the most sensitive issue. That is definitely one area where they could improve. There are not many gaps or anything that LogicMonitor does not already have available. More data sources or more reporting options would be helpful to make sure all bases are covered, no matter what kind of report or data we are looking to pull. Outside of that, there are really not many notes regarding changes to the application itself.

Has enabled us to detect issues instantly through alerts and monitor every service from a single dashboard
Splunk requires significantly more improvements compared to Splunk AppDynamics, specifically regarding the licensing aspect. Splunk renews licenses every six months, which is inconvenient. It would be better to have a one-year license to avoid needing to update keys constantly, which can only occur on weekends, making it a burdensome task. Although Splunk is better for certain use cases, Splunk AppDynamics is broader in functionality. Specifically, I want enhancements related to creating dashboards not only for logs or minor services but also for configuration levels, allowing us to check configurations immediately without manually opening the entire code when exceptions arise—a feature I wish to see improved in Splunk, although it may not be necessary for Splunk AppDynamics.
