A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Is stable and has a user-friendly dashboard and a good interface
We installed Hillstone T-Series after a ransomware attack. The dashboard and user interface are very good We cannot secure a specific IP class with this firewall. Another loophole with Hillstone T-Series is that when we connect through WiFi and turn our hot spot on, all who connect through the…

User-friendly CLI and efficient dashboard streamline operations with robust security features
I find Palo Alto Networks VM-Series easy to deploy, and none of my customers have had significant complaints. My customers have high certifications provided by Palo Alto Networks. The friendly dashboard and the ability to easily command and use the CLI make Palo Alto Networks VM-Series a better product. It offers robust solutions, making it valuable to my customers.

"For the performance they provide, the price is acceptable."
"It is a stable solution compared to other vendors."
"The most useful feature of FortiGate IPS for me is Application Control."
"In a scenario where FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) notably enhanced my customer's network performance, we discussed many points."
"The best feature of Fortinet FortiGate is SD-WAN; it ensures continuous connectivity by taking over during link failures, preventing any downtime for the company."
"The quick resolution of issues with Fortinet FortiGate is due to the support of the company and the fact that the equipment is easy to work with."
"We like signature-based anomaly detection and zero-day protection features."
"The product is easy to install since we only need to follow the user manual, documents, and articles provided by Fortinet to install the product."
"We installed Hillstone T-Series after a ransomware attack. The dashboard and user interface are very good."
"The only firewall able to monitor traffic from a CCTV network. Can detect unauthorized devices plugged into the network, which standard firewalls can't do."
"It has been stable so far."
"AWS has improved our agility to apply firewall rules. It has reduced the amount of time that it takes to apply firewall rules because everything is based in the cloud."
"The main advantage of Palo Alto Networks VM-Series stems from the fact that you can access it with the help of cloud services."
"The interface with Panorama makes it very easy to use."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is the zero-trust security architecture."
"It is nice to have a rock solid security platform that we can count on."

"It has the ability to create Palo Alto VM-series using software."
"Palo Alto's robust threat intelligence supports new updates, and I can open cases directly with their Threat Intelligence team."

Cons

"I prefer Palo Alto over Fortinet FortiGate. Its IPS engine is not better than the Palo Alto version. The monitoring tool needs improvement, and the syslog configuration needs enhancement."
"The interface and product support could use improvement."
"It is somewhat expensive compared to other solutions such as Sophos."
"The support costs and licensing are sometimes so expensive."
"In my opinion, Fortinet FortiGate could be improved by making the appliance smaller than what we have here, as it is pretty big."
"Their support's response time can be better. In the past six months, they took quite a long time to respond to the support tickets."
"There's room for improvement in the interface, especially following their upgrade to version nineteen."
"At the moment, the main concern is the pricing and the type of licensing."
"Licensing is not cheap."
"Another loophole with Hillstone T-Series is that when we connect through WiFi and turn our hot spot on, all who connect through the hotspot get all the functions, and the security does not work."
"They have a very good technical support team, but I think there are some communication issues due to language differences."
"The implementation should be simplified."
"From time to time, they have released some content updates that have some issues, maybe twice a year."
"Palo Alto Networks VM-Series is a complex product to work with."
"The user interface could use some improvement."
"There is no proper support channel to follow up on cases."
"With Palo Alto Networks VM-Series, it is hard for me to manage its network configuration part."
"The tool is very costly."
"In the next release, I would like to see better integration between the endpoints and the firewalls."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate FortiGate Next Generation Firewall a five out of ten for pricing."
"The licensing costs are very low."
"Pricing for this product is comparatively lower than other products. It's an affordable solution, but when expanding the number of users, they'll ask you to replace the model, so that's an added cost."
"If you compare the price of Fortinet FortiGate IPS to other firewalls, Check Point is priced very high followed by Palo Alto and Sophos. Fortinet FortiGate IPS price is more reasonable."
"Fortinet FortiGate gives you most of the features in one license."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten"
"The licensing cost is at the intermediate level."
"The price for the device and software is high. However, the solution is of good quality and has a lot of features."
"On a scale from one to ten, with one being low and ten being high price, I would rate the price of Hillstone T-Series at three. There are no additional costs other than renewal costs."
"We got a much cheaper price than that provided by Fortinet right now."
"It is an expensive product."
"We used BYOL, because of the cost to own."
"The VM series is licensed annually."
"The license fee is slightly high."
"The cost of this product varies from customer to customer and the relationship with IBM, including how many offerings from IBM are already being used."
"Do not buy larges box if you do not need them. Rightsizing is a great task to do beforehand."
"There is a need to make payments toward a yearly subscription-based model in which you need to add modules that you want to use in your company."
"For what you get, it does do what it says. It is a good value for an enterprise firewall."
