Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Real-time threat detection and alarm management have improved security operations
Google SecOps is extremely useful for threat detection and hunting. It provides a detailed pipeline for detection and is beneficial for real-time threat monitoring when integrated with Mandiant. The tool's integration capabilities are effective, and it helps in managing alarms for normal threats efficiently. Overall, Google SecOps is a very useful service for security operations.

Log analysis has become faster and more accurate, enabling precise threat detection
Regarding areas for improvement in Singularity Platform, I would say the data security posture and control over sensitive information could be enhanced. If the control were more robust, then it would be better. For instance, when I analyze a log using Singularity Platform, the logs I see are clear, but if they were more descriptive, it would be much better. For example, when I find a log suspicious, if it automatically points out that a particular point in the log at a specific timing or frame is looking malicious, it would be easier for me. I would not have to go through many logs to find this information.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main benefit of using Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks while employing Palo Alto Firewall at the internet edge is that it improves security on our endpoint devices, integrating seamlessly with Palo Alto Firewalls to deliver comprehensive network, analyst, and security details all in a single dashboard, which allows us to manage everything from our network devices."
"One of the things that I enjoy the most is using policy extensions. It's like having host firewalls to control USB connections. I think it's a wonderful tool to restrict use when connecting to our computers. Another important tool is Home Insights. That is an add-on to the Cortex solution. I like that because we can see all the vulnerabilities in the environment and control what assets are connected to our network."
"The product has an intuitive dashboard."
"The most valuable for us is the correlation feature."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks saves time in various ways, although the user interface is fairly standard."
"The normal protection was really effective, and we detected situations that if we didn't have Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, it's highly likely that we would have been affected, but it protected the infrastructure."
"The positive impacts I see from Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks include a complete 360-degree view of our security posture altogether, being a uniform platform where we are ingesting logs from multiple resources."
"Without hyperbole, I have never, in my entire career, encountered a vendor or a vendor community as awesome as Siemplify. Siemplify and the Siemplify Community quite literally made it possible for our SOC to increase almost five-fold in our number of clients and number of analysts and to go from a Monday to Friday 9-5 shop to a 24/7 shop all in the span of under a year and a half and all while continually adding capabilities and improving the services we offer to our clients."
"The playbooks feature in Siemplify is crucial for automation. We've utilized both standard and custom integrations with other security operation solutions, enhancing our flexibility. The user interface is generally straightforward, although recent changes may require some adjustment and Siemplify's integrations and capabilities offer potential support for various compliance requirements."
"Google SecOps is extremely useful for threat detection and hunting."
"Overall, Google SecOps is a very useful service for security operations."
"The most valuable feature of Siemplify is the playbooks that can be created."
"I believe Singularity Platform is perfectly fine overall."
"I have tried some paid tools, but I have found that Singularity Platform is far better than others, and as a log analyst and SOC analyst, I find it better than others."
"Singularity Platform's real-time personalization feature has helped our customer experience strategies by allowing us to have different workspaces where we have custom views, and depending on the use case because we have many products that use Singularity Platform, they interact with the UI in different ways, producing different elements and giving us tailored views for different products."
"Singularity Platform's functionality for ransomware rollback is quite useful because if you have a ransomware attack, most EDR solutions do not have the feature to do a rollback and bring the system to its earlier state, but that is one of the unique features that Singularity Platform has which can be a game changer for customers."
"Singularity Platform's best features are its scheduled reports and its automated end-of-day business capabilities, which allow any activities that occur projected or expected to come in overnight without manual intervention."
"Singularity Platform allows us to have one single view of potential threats and the health of our environment, helping us optimize operational efficiency."
"Once it fully adapts to the environment, customers don't even need to monitor their endpoint protection landscape, as it can automatically learn and mitigate any threats or problems with minimal human interaction."
"The best features I and my clients like the most about Singularity Platform are that, first of all, it's easy to handle, it doesn't take a lot of time to get into, there's no real obscurity, it takes a load of work from the team, and in most cases, you can literally just configure it once and leave it running until something comes up, and it will just work."

Cons

"It's more focused on network communication. If a customer wants to increase the level of protection and start working with documents, it's impossible to integrate these features into the system. It's more of a communication-oriented system than a content security-oriented system."
"Data privacy is a matter of concern. You have to be careful with data privacy, it can be sensitive and Cortex can have most of your access."
"It'll help if customization was easier."
"It takes time to scan the servers and devices."
"I would like to see them include NDR (Network Detection Response)."
"The solution lags to the real-time scenarios here and there."
"If they had pulse rate detection, it would be better."
"Cortex does not offer an on-premises solution. However, some customers would prefer not to be on the cloud. It would be ideal if it could offer something on-prem as well."
"The main improvement could be in the accuracy and detail provided in threat descriptions."
"I'm inclined to say that I'd love to see some Machine Learning capabilities integrated into the platform, however, I just attended a demo this morning where Siemplify gave a sneak peek into some Machine Learning capabilities that they are currently developing and have roadmapped for release soon."
"Building the playbooks could be easier and the integration could improve. It is a difficult process, such as what API connections need to be made."
"We often encounter minor issues that could be improved, but we maintain communication with the developers and submit feature requests. Recently, I requested enhancements such as improved search functionality within playbooks and expanded options for exporting case data."
"The main improvement could be in the accuracy and detail provided in threat descriptions."
"The first thing I would say about the negative side of Singularity Platform is that it lacks some customization and integrations compared to competitors."
"Regarding areas for improvement in Singularity Platform, I would say the data security posture and control over sensitive information could be enhanced."
"Regarding the pricing, Singularity Platform is very high compared to other platforms that have been worked with, such as CrowdStrike and other Sophos EDRs."
"Technical support from SentinelOne is somewhat dependent on the engineer you are assigned. Some TAC cases are solved in a good time, but some cases faced challenges because the engineer was not competent or was not able to understand the issue or take it to its logical conclusion."
"I believe that CAM and Clearwater are superior to Singularity Platform."
"The dashboards can be improved, and their dashboarding functionality needs to be better. The way the dashboards look is not really impactful or meaningful."
"The areas that have room for improvement in Singularity Platform include the fact that I am really not happy with the vulnerability management."
"Sometimes, these customized solutions our developers develop also get flagged in real time, and the processes get stopped and are blocked, and we have to whitelist the processes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price was fine."
"The tool's price is moderate."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"If one wishes to work with another team or large number of users at a future point, he must purchase a license for them."
"Compared to CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR is an expensive solution."
"Cortex XDR is a costly solution."
"The price is on the higher side, but it's okay."
"It has a yearly renewal."
